This document discusses the use of nanoparticles in poultry nutrition. It begins with an introduction to nanotechnology and how it has been applied in various agricultural sectors like meat, eggs, fish, and dairy. It then discusses different types of nanoparticles like inorganic, organic, metal oxide, and carbon-based nanoparticles. The document outlines various ways nanoparticles can benefit poultry through improving feed efficiency, controlling nutrient absorption, and promoting growth. It also discusses challenges in the use of nanoparticles and concludes that nanoparticles show promising results in improving poultry performance, health, egg quality, and gut health.

15. CHALLENGES FACING USING NANOPARTICLES IN
PULTRY NUTRITION
Potential toxicity of nanomaterials is not fully studied and
risk assessments including hazard identification, hazard
characterization and exposure assessment are essential
(Oberdörster et al., 2005)
The meat of animals fed on these particles showed poor
quality due to low resistance to micro-organisms growth, poor
water retention and poor carcass traits (Fang et al., 2015).
There is a lack of knowledge on the fate of ingested
nanoparticles in human body and it is essential to investigate
routes of exposure and also it is important to accumulate basic
knowledge on their absorption, distribution, metabolism,
and excretion (Bai et al., 2018).
