Calumet River, Gary, Indiana 2005
Arc Surveying & Mapping, Inc. was contracted by US Steel Corporation during 2005 through
2008 to perform single beam hydrographic surveys of the Calumet River at the US Steel facility
in Gary Indiana. Cross-sections were taken at 50 foot intervals and overlayed on USS contract
plan templates to assure compliance with EPA and other agency agreements regarding the
removal of contaminated sediments to native soil, computed quantities and provided expert
services during negotiations of excavated quantity resolutions. Surveying services were
performed under the direct supervision of Arc’s PLS and ACSM Certified Hydrographer.
