2. The character of the poster is evidently the main
character, and the main attraction of the poster.
The use of jewelry can be used to grab audiences
attention. Audiences who often wear jewelry can
relate and ‘personally identify’
The symbol of the
channel is big and bold,
also it is in the usual E4
font and colour, this
makes the audience
recognise the channel
and if they are a regular
viewer they will
become interested in
the new series they are
advertising.
This promotes and
advertises the
new series that
will premier on
the channel E4.
The viewers will
then anticipate
and expect the
series and
become engaged.
The title of the series is
displayed in big and bold
writing and is clearly
visible, one of the first
things you see when you
look at the poster, this is
similar to the symbol of
the channel. It has the
same effect also, it
informs the audience and
makes them aware of the
series if they are regular
viewers.
The poster also
shows off the
supporting
characters, these
characters are
dominant within the
soap opera which
would cause for
their fan bases to
become engaged in
the new series.
The characters in the poster can be considered to be main
characters, taking this into account they would have a lot
of ‘star appeal’ (Richard Dyer) and this means they would
attract people to take interest in the new series if they are
appearing in it.

3. Strengths
• The strengths which I can identify in this poster
would have to be the use of ‘star appeal’ (Richard
Dyer).
• The clear display of the channel the series will air on.
The title of the series and also which series it is.
• The poster shows the characters dressed in quite
urban clothing, with jewelry and pieces of clothing
which the youth of today can relate to.
• Also, there is a clear background which makes the
characters stand out and makes them the main cover
stars.
