2. Hot Desking
For some feedback I did a hot desking exercise in class in which others evaluated my music video
first edit. For this feedback the only real issue I encountered was that my video was too boring
and di not have enough variety of shots, this was addressed in my final edit, as I decided to film
some extra footage and splice this into my edit. This helped my edit feel less boring, however I
still retained some of how the video felt static, in order to retain the vision I had for the video.
3. Class Viewing
The class viewing came up with similar results to my hot desking and so the same response to
how the feedback was used applies.
4. Focus Group
Once I had copies of all of my final products I decided to hold a focus group with 5 people, 2 females
aged 18, and 3 males aged 18, 19, and 18 respectively. This was a good group of people as they fit my
target demographic very well. When questioned about my product they liked how all the colours were
the same on each of the products, and this meant they were all easily identifiable. One issue that they
did bring up however was that the black and white/red mixture on the digipak did feel slightly jarring.
This could have presented an issue however I was going for jarring when designing my digipak in this
manner so I actually achieved the desired effect so decided not to change this aspect of my digipak.
When presented with the advert I created they all liked how simple the design was, making all the
information easy to digest. However one aspect that they did not like was that the copy I showed them
had the Spotify logo at the bottom of the advert yet the text asked them to pre order the album, this
confused them as Spotify does not offer the ability to purchase music as a part of it’s service. This led
to me changing from the Spotify logo to the iTunes logo, as then the pre order text made sense on the
advert. When shown the video one person noted that there was not a disclaimer for viewers with
epilepsy which could have proved an issue due to the strobe lighting in my video, this meant that for
my final edit I added a disclaimer at the start of the video. The group did not have anything else that
they thought I should change for my promotional package.
