Teachers play a vital role in shaping students and society. They are dedicated to their students' well-being and education beyond regular working hours. In recognition of teachers' efforts and sacrifices, the Philippine government has established acts like the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers and provisions in the 1987 Constitution to protect teachers' rights and privileges. These acts define teachers and provide tenure, academic freedom, tax relief, and other benefits. While the acts serve to guide teachers and protect them from threats, amendments may be needed to meet current needs.

RA 4670
Teachers are very essential part of the society and I can’t really imagine the world without teachers.
They are indeed one of the most influential and powerful forces for equity, access and quality in education and
the key to sustainable global development. Teachers nurtures and shapes the future of the students and as well
as the society. For me, they are the true heroes because they are not just a teacher or a public servant but they
can also be a counselor, doctor, and a parent to their students. They are very dedicated to their noble profession
in the fact that they can extend their working hours and scopes of their job for the sake of their students. They
are the true heroes because they are sacrificing most of their time on their job rather than spending their time
with their loved ones or just for themselves to relax.
Because of the hardwork and dedication, the state recognizes the major roles and contributions of
teachers in nurturing future leaders. States gave the rights and privileges of the teachers for their noble
profession. As I read the RA 4670 also known as the Magna Carta for public school teachers and the Article XIV,
Section IV of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, I could truly understand and so overwhelmed that the state
recognizes the teachers by the means of those acts. We truly deserves those rights and privileges provided by
the state because we take upon ourselves the responsibility of taking care of their students in school even beyond
the regular working teaching hours. Furthurmore, we particularly stationed in far flung areas where there are
no public service vehicles and the only way to reach those areas are to walk and cross the rivers bear more
burdens. In recognition of these heroic deeds that State shall bestow honor to public school teachers by allowing
the draping of the Philippine Flag on their caskets. The State recognizes the commitment, dedication and
sacrifices of public school teachers as evidenced by R. A. No. 4670 or the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers.
However, the existing policy needs amendments to meet the present needs of the country’s public school teachers.
In conclusion, the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers and the 1987 of the Philippine constitution
particularly the Article XIV, Section IV helps me a lot to understand fully the rights of the teachers. This acts
are very important to the public school teachers. It protects the rights of the teachers like the tenure of office,
academic freedom, Tax reliefs, and other benefits. Magna Carta for Public School Teachers and 1987 Philippine
Constitution serves as the guide to utter protection and freedom, away from threats and terminations from the
concerned authorities. If you are not aware of this law, you are always threatened by the administrators or any
person in authority to terminate you from work once you violated the law. However, in order to be protected
from abuses; every teacher must know and understand very well the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers
and the 1987 constitutions because it serves as their guide on their profession and their rights, privileges and
benefits were written on these.
As teachers’ efforts are being recognized in building the nation, an Act was passed into law to look
after the welfare of the public school teachers and to promote, improve, and secure the professional rights of
a teacher—known to be the Republic Act (RA) 4670 or Magna Carta for Public School Teachers.A teacher is
defined in this act as “all persons engaged in teaching (look into the provision of the law: in any level of
instruction, on full-time basis) basic education in public schools and all other persons performing supervisory
functions in all public schools in basic education, specifically: department heads, assistant school heads, school
heads, district, division, and regional supervisors, assistant schools division superintendent, schools division
superintendents, assistant regional directors, regional directors and bureau/service/center directors, but shall
not include support personnel such as legal, medicaland dental, planning, property/supply, financial and human
resource employees.”
One of my experienced in DepEd was sending me from a place which is very far from my hometown.
They always say that localization should be followed but my rights is being violated in this part. They swap me
from a teacher that already married in that place. I am also the first applicant in the school but it turns out
that the second applicant stay in our hometown and they send me away. I realized that life is so unfair, the
only thing you need to do is make it fair. I promise myself that once I become a principal, I should choose the
applicants that qualified enough to be in that position.
