The Republican Party believes that the role of the federal government in education should be limited and that teachers, parents, and school boards should have most control over schools. They support increasing access to higher education through savings accounts for challenging coursework in high school. Republicans also continue working to allow voluntary prayer in schools and reforming immigration to emphasize border control and family reunification.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
1. Essay on Government in Education
Government in Education
Government in education has always been a disputable topic. The Republican Party believes that
the role of federal government must be limited. Teachers, parents, and school boards should have
most of the control over schools. The party is in favor of home schooling and calls for enforcement
of laws that would protect the family's privacy to do so. As college tuition continues to rise,
Republicans want to increase the access to these universities with savings accounts. These savings
would target higher benefits for students who take more challenging courses in high school. There is
also much debate over prayer in schools. The Republican Party continues to work to get voluntary
prayer back into schools. I think...show more content...
The Republican Party wants to reform and toughen the current immigration system in order to
emphasize family. The system needs to devote resources to border control and give priority to
spouses and children. The party believes that needed skills for determining eligibility for admission
to our country should be emphasized. Republicans also support increasing the number of H–1B visas
to ensure that workers with more high–tech skills are placed into specialized positions. The H–2A
program for short–term agricultural workers also needs expansion. President Bush supports the
concept called "English–Plus", which insists on English proficiency but recognizes the valued
richness that other languages bring to our country. Democrats are in support of the reforming of the
INS to provide better services. Also, there needs to be increased resources for English language
courses. The party believes that "family reunification" should continue to be the most important
aspect of our current immigration system. Democrats want protection of immigrants who are hired
by employers in order to exploit them. There is need for restoration of basic due process protections,
so that immigrants can no longer be deported for minor offenses. The Green Party says, "Don't

2. Role of Education
The role of Assessment in Education System Education is the most important aspect in people's
lives. In today's society, education is essential in order to be successful economically and socially.
'Durkheim believes that education enables children to internalize the social rules that contribute to
the functioning of the society' (Giddens, A., 2006, p.686). He also claimed that education should be
under the control of the state, free from special interest groups. Other than this, 'Karl Marx, the
father of the conflict theory, believed that education system perpetuates the existing class
structure...to prepare children for their roles in the capitalist, technological society, controlled by the
dominant groups in society' (Ballantine, J.,...show more content...
According to the National Curriculum of the Maldives, 'the purpose of classroom assessment is to
empower both teachers and their students to improve the quality of learning in the classroom' (Cited
in EDC website, p.98).
Assessment should tell the educators and individual learners something that they already know
stretching learners to the limits of their understanding and ability to apply their knowledge. There
are various methods and strategies that are used in order to find out what the students already know
and to connect them with what is to be taught. In order to obtain students prior knowledge and
understanding, teachers administer assessment techniques to collect information about what and
how much their students are learning. Assessment in schools can be classified into diagnostic,
formative and summative strands.
Diagnostic assessments are used to provide educators with information about students' prior
knowledge, skills, attitudes, learning styles and motivation to assist them to develop an effective
learning programme that suits the educational needs of the learners. After diagnostic test summative
and formative assessments are used to evaluate students' learning.
Summative test typically comes at the end of course or unit of instruction. It is designed to

3. Role of Education
INTRODUCTION
IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION
Generally, at the start of a very young age, children learn to develop and use their mental, moral and
physical powers, which they acquire through various types of education. Education is commonly
referred to as the process of learning and obtaining knowledge at school, in a form of formal
education. However, the process of education does not only start when a child first attends school.
Education begins at home. One does not only acquire knowledge from a teacher; one can learn and
receive knowledge from a parent, family member and even an acquaintance. In almost all societies,
attending school and receiving an education is extremely vital and necessary if one wants to achieve
success.
However,...show more content...
TAPPING INNER FORCES
But moral values are not the only constructive elements of social processes, rather, they are
expressions of the inner forces that operate in the spiritual reality of every human being, and
education must concern itself with these forces, if it is to tap the roots of motivation and produce
meaningful and lasting change. THE PURPOSE OF EDUCATION
The purpose of education for individuals both male and female ––– is to develop the powers and
capacities latent within them, so that they may contribute their share to an ever advancing
civilization. THE RELEVANCE OF EDUCATION
Universal education must be relevant to the true needs of a community and contribute to the
unification of mankind. It must enable people both to move in the direction of their own choosing
and help them appreciate those universal qualities that distinguish the entire human race. WOMEN
& EDUCATION
Women must be educated not only for the service they render to humanity as the first educators of
children, but ultimately, for the special contribution women must make to the creation of a just
world order, an order characterized by such compassion, vigour and scope which has never been
seen in human history. EDUCATION SHOULD HELP SELF DISCOVERY
Education should lead to the discovery and perfection of one's capabilities and instil a commitment
to serve the best interests of the community and the world as a whole. MORAL EDUCATION

4. A Successful Educator Essay
The primary goal of an educator is to provide a student with the tools needed to accomplish lifelong
goals as an adult. Specifically, each teacher is charged the responsibility to equip a student with the
knowledge and skills that will contribute to his/her cumulative educational goals. All too often,
students do not come to school with an unconditional love of learning. The educators therefore, have
the ominous task of educating, motivating and coaching the often disinterested young person. Often,
the best teachers are those that find ways to connect with their students. They therefore, find ways to
encourage connections to the students short and long term goals. Many times, students do not find it
easy to identify goals. Younger...show more content...
Students who are well taken care of and live in safe happy environments are therefore, better
equipped to succeed in a learning environment. Educators must be observant of the student's well
being and willing to facilitate intervention if a student is in distress. Teachers often have to make
difficult decisions to protect their students. By law if an educator suspects child abuse or neglect, it
must be reported to the proper authorities. There may be times when a teacher has to go against the
student's wishes to protect him/her but, the educator must consequently adhere to "what is in the
best interest of the child." A successful teacher of flourishing students is involved in the school
community. Many times their day is lengthened as they choose to become integrated into other
aspects of their students' lives. Teachers see other sides of students when they are willing to
participate in extracurricular activities. Interaction with their students in non–learning environments
thus, gives the educator additional tools to help in the educational process. Interactions such as this
allow teachers to take their students interests and integrate them into the classroom learning
environment. Learning should not be limited to the traditional classroom. Moreover, there are many
"teachable moments" that can be utilized outside the classroom. Team sports, student government,
debate team, etc. provides the
