2. OSI MODEL
The OSI Model (Open Systems Interconnection Model) is a conceptual framework
used to describe the functions of a networking system.
There are 7 layers in the OSI model and each layer has a different capability. OSI
model helps networking professionals in understanding information flow from one
source to destination. Although the OSI model not performing any function in the
networking process.
4. TCP/IP Model
TCP/IP stands for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol
and is a suite of communication protocols used to interconnect
network devices on the internet. TCP/IP is also used as a
communications protocol in a private computer network (an
intranet or extranet)
7. Using logical connections makes it easier for us to think about the
duty of each layer.
Another way of thinking of the logical connections is to think about
the data unit created from each layer. In the top three layers, the
data unit (packets) should not be Logical connections between
layers of the TCP/IP protocol suite Link 1 LAN Switch Logical
connections Source host Destination host Source host Destination
host Router Link 2 LAN Physical Data link Network Transport
Application Physical Data link Network Transport Application
Switch Router To link 3 changed by any router or link-layer switch. In
the bottom two layers, the packet created by the host is changed
only by the routers, not by the link-layer switches.
