2. Se7en
A film about two homicide detectives' (Morgan Freeman and (Brad Pitt
desperate hunt for a serial killer who justifies his crimes as absolution for the
world's ignorance of the Seven Deadly Sins. The movie takes us from the
tortured remains of one victim to the next as the sociopathic "John Doe"
(Kevin Spacey) sermonizes to Detectives Somerset and Mills one sin at a time.
The sin of Gluttony comes first and the murderer's terrible capacity is
graphically demonstrated in the dark and subdued tones characteristic of film
noir. The seasoned and cultured but jaded Somerset researches the Seven
Deadly Sins in an effort to understand the killer's modus operandi while the
bright but green and impulsive Detective Mills (Pitt) scoffs at his efforts to get
inside the mind of a killer
3. All of the typography is white and
looks like it was written in chalk. The
background is black which may relate
to a chalk board emphasizing the
chalk like font. This font really suits
the genre of the movie as a chalk
board usually indicates that an action
has been planned/ thought through.
This relates to the serial killer as no
murder was random and there was a
set amount of kills and ways he killed
his victims. The font also appears in a
dizzy/disorientated fashion which may
represent that the killer is not normal
and is mentally unstable.
4. Some backgrounds of the movie aren’t
black which may make it hard to read the
white words. The typography overcame
this by making the words on the screen
appear on . different parts of the screen
to make it easier to read and not conflict
with the background
5. Deadpool
Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces operative who now
works as a mercenary. His world comes crashing down when evil scientist Ajax
(Ed Skrein) tortures, disfigures and transforms him into Deadpool. The rogue
experiment leaves Deadpool with accelerated healing powers and a twisted
sense of humor. With help from mutant allies Colossus and Negasonic
Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Deadpool uses his new skills to hunt
down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
6. Deadpool’s typography is in complete
contrast to what is going on in the
background. The words are a plain
white and have no special font besides
being bold. Most of the typography is
not what its supposed to be(for ex.
Actor names are not correct). This
reflects the childish side of the main
character Deadpool. The font being
bold may also represent how bold
Deadpool is. Deadpool who is played
by Ryan Reynolds is on the cover of a
magazine(the headline-The sexiest man
alive) which again shows that this
movie isn’t how movies normally are.
Just like Se7en the words move all over
the screen to avoid any conflict with
the background. These words appear
fast wjich again contrasts with the
scene which is in slow motion.
7. Sin City
Four tales of crime adapted from Frank Miller's popular comics, focusing
around a muscular brute who's looking for the person responsible for the
death of his beloved Goldie, a man fed up with Sin City's corrupt law
enforcement who takes the law into his own hands after a horrible mistake, a
cop who risks his life to protect a girl from a deformed pedophile, and a
hitman looking to make a little cash.
8. Unlike the other two films this
typography is not consistent with the
color of the words. The “important”
words on the screen come out in a bold
red font. Most of these are names of
the actors/producers or the name of
the movie, mostly words that the
director would want you to focus on.
We know this because around the
outline of the red words is white, this
helps it stand out even more. The other
color of the typography is white. This
also stands out from the black
background(but not as much as red).
These are words like “produced by” and
ect. Both are witten in a font youd
expect to be on the cover of a graphic
novel(comic). This may have been used
because the movie itself is based after a
comic and the director may have
wanted to show that
