SETTING is the time and place in which the story
unfolds. The time could be in the past, the present,
or the future; during the day or the night; in any
season. The place, or scene may be imaginary or
real.

Writers use characters to perform the actions and
speak the dialogues of a story. They move a story’s
plot forward. They are the who of a story.
