1. How to make a Professional Documentary Codes and Conventions of a Documentary
2. Voiceover A convention of documentary is having a voice over however I think the team have decided to have no voice overs but instead just let the audience watch and experience it for themselves. I think everybody including TJ have agreed to this idea. Voiceovers can sometimes be biased and lead the audience the wrong way and therefore we have decided to have no voiceovers.
3. This is going to be easy for us as we will be going out into town and shooting with the police. We have been given access to Nightclubs and other events taking place in Leicester. We will also be going to different concerts which will be taking place in Leicester. Future events include Skepta and Wretch 32 who will be performing at the 02 Academy in Leicester. We will also be able to see people getting arrested and taken into custody suites which will try and convey the message to the audience. We are also going to be interviewing a lot of people and sticking it into our main productions and therefore getting real footage of events will not be a problem. One problem which may occur though is the fact that we are going to have to shoot when events actually take place and we can’t choose when events take place. This means that most of our weekends will be taken up by shooting. Real footage of events
4. Technicality of realism This would include shooting footage and conveying it in the right way for example if we shoot someone getting arrested, we can’t not show how the police deal with it as that would be giving a wrong message about the Leicester Police.
5. Archive footage/stills We are planning to use footage which the police already have and also CCTV footage. We also have the support of the police and therefore we can get footage from them which will help to get the message across in the final product. There are plenty of CCTV footages out in Leicester and it would also capture more footage which we may have missed.
9. Police officersSometimes some interviews may disagree with the message of the documentary however it is out job to disapprove them in someway. Interviews with ‘experts’
10. Use of Text/Titles We are going to have text at the beginning of the documentary where we show some facts about Leicester. Labels. Dates etc. tend to be believed unquestionably and are quick of conveying information.
11. TJ has mentioned that he wants some music in the documentary. I have got some very good contacts from my AS media project and therefore it won’t be hard to find artists in Leicester. There will be non-degetic sound in the documentary and when we go out into town. In our documentary as we have decided to have an interview there will also be a dialogue between two people. When we start planning for the documentary we are going to think about sound in a lot more detail. Sound

13. Bouncers can be interviewed at the club door where they usually stand on nights out/
15. Police officers can be interviewed in Custody Suites where conventionally they are normally based. We will be going out into Nightclubs and concerts and therefore we will be allowed access all areas (like we were with Summer Sundae) and therefore it is important we take advantage of this and get as many shots and angles as possible.
