1. Me and Gee didn’t know where to start to try and get
copyright permission for Examples music and therefore Gee
decided to contact Example himself first.
2.
3. So Gee sent Example and Email and now all we could do is
wait until Example read the email and passed it on to the
relevant people and as he was on tour in Australia we never
thought we would get a reply. However after a while Gee got
an Email from a women named Verity Griffiths who worked
for Example so somehow Example himself read the email and
passed it on to the relevant people. Now we were getting
somewhere.
4.
5.
6.
7. While I was waiting for Verity to ask Examples
manager I decided to email Suzanne for publishing
approval.
After email Suzanne, she put me in touch with her
collegues Pru who sent me an email…..
8.
9.
10. So Pru contacted me during half term asking me to fill
in a form….
11.

13. So I waited for Pru to contact me again.
At this point we have completed the rough draft and
used Examples music for our rough draft.
14.
15. We thought we were going to be able to use his track for
free of charge as that is what Veriety said however his
publishing company wants us to pay.
Pru gave me 2 options:
Option 1: We would be charged £50.00 for coursework use
only.
Option 2: We would be charged £500.00 if this video got
transferred to the Police.
This video has to go to the Police as they have requested it
and therefore we didn’t know what to do and therefore we
went to Miss Gregory as we did not want to pay £500.00 but
didn’t mind paying the £50.00.
16. So Miss Gregory read the email and gave us 2 options which we could follow.
Option 1
The Media Department pays the £50.00 and we use the track for our
coursework and replace the music for the Police or ask them to replace
Examples music which means we would not have used the music for public
places.
Option 2
We speak to TJ and explain the situation and if he wants to keep the Example
track then we get £500.00 from him and pay his publishing company which
means we would not be in any legal trouble, TJ would be able to use the track
and would not have to replace the music.
If TJ agrees to this then the Media Department would not have to pay the
£50.00 and both parties can use the track for their use.
We will definitly be using the track and will pay the £50.00 for coursework use
however it’s not up to TJ to see if he wants to pay the £500.00
