• Marginalization refers to the
segregation/separation of the unimportant
or powerless position within a society or
group.
• Another term for Marginalization is social
exclusion.

• Marginalized population include, race, gander, identity, sexual
orientation, age, physical ability, and/or immigration status.
What are the different groups of children
who are marginalized?
• They include disabled children, children subjected to child protection
actions, children subjected to abuse, children living in remote rural
areas.

• Poor access to justice has been a critical barrier to human
development in the Philippines.
• In the absence of justice people are unable to have their voice
heard, exercise their rights, challenge discrimination or hold
decision makers accountable for their actions.
• In the Philippines 1 of 3 individuals live below poverty line.

• Poor families frequently suffers from hunger of malnutrition
from which follow numerous health problems, specially among
children who are physically more vulnerable than adults.
• 1 out of 5 newborns shows dietary deficiencies from the
moment of birth. 5.99% of pregnancy are teenagers.

CHILDREN
• 10% of Filipino children are forced to work to support the needs of
their family. They scavenge in public dumps which affects their
health, other children works non stop on sugar, rice, and tea
plantation.
• Children born out of wedlock, naitive children's and disabled children,
face discrimination as they are not accepted to the so called normal
of the society.
• And 17% of births are not officially registered in the Philippines,
which causes them to not be able to enjoy their rights as they are non
existent to the eyes of society.
