BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Water-Cooled Cable is one of the important parts used in Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)
and Ladle furnace (LF).
As one of the earliest manufacturers in China, BEIJING SINO STEEL ENGINEERING &
EQUIPMENT CO., LTD. has more than 20 years of experiences in this field. Our
products are widely used by more than 80 Large & Medium sized Metallurgical &
Machinery enterprises in China and World.

1. SDL series of Water Cooled Cable
1.1 Characteristic
1) Strands of copper twist wire are wound together by special process to avoid all kinds
of drawbacks caused by bore welding. Special insulating materials are used against
strands rubbing and electric erosion, therefore the service life of cable is extended by
eight to ten years. The well-distributed current is favourable to three phases
equilibrium, for this reason, the hot spots are smoothed.
2) The cable joint is made into plane joint using the electrolytic copper bar to ensure
better pressure joining, reliability and conductibility. Moreover, because the flow rate
and direction of cooling water at the joint of the cable are very reasonable, to be able
to make every strands of cable to be cooled sufficiently.
3) All parts of cable are made of nonmagnetic material.
4) Special heat-resistance rubber is adopted for making outer layer of cable and a few
of bumper protection sleeves are used to avoid the rubbing among the rub pipes
during operation.
5) Since the electrolytic copper twist wires are pressed to the copper joint, the contact
resistance is nearly zero.
6) The water pressure testing on the cable is done before delivering, ensuring non-
leakage of cooling water.
7) All strands wires are supported by the core pipe, ensuring the cable position not
changed the operation.
8) Because of lower reactance of cable and steady operation, it is able to increase the
output of transformer by 10-15 percent, with a distinguished electricity saving.

9) With this kind of cable, the current density can be raised, consequently the copper is
saved, and the breaking off of copper wires and the spreading out of strands are
prevented.
10) This new type of cable is easy to install, is reliably operated and is convenient for
maintenance, are welcomed by maintenance workers.

2. RSL series of Water Cooled Cable
2.1 Characteristics
1) The cable wire is woven into a cylindrical net structure, distance between
different part of the cable is enlarged which can reduce the reaction of the
cable.
2) The cable is fully cooled, the current is well distributed on it, the current density
can reach 5A/mm2, compared with the twist-wire cable, the efficacy of the cable
is improved.
There have no bracing rubber pipe and interval casing pipe in the cable, the
cooling water can reach the copper wire net directly, so that the cable is fully
cooled, and the ageing rubber lump blocking the cooling water is avoided.
3) The cable wire are pressed to the copper joint through special connection
structure, the contact resistance is nearly zero.
4) The cable has good deflection and small curvature radius which can prevent
the cable from losing efficacy and prolong the service life of the cable.
5) The joints of the cable are cuboid shaped and are colled by water, which make
the connection simple and reliable, according to user’s special requirement, the
shape of the joint can be made into pipe shape for connection.

2.3 Description of the above structure:
1) cable joint is made into plane joint, using T2 copper bar with the characteristic of
large contact area, easy to install and easy to uninstall. The outside dimension
and the connect dimension can be made as per user’s special requirement. The
joint and the soft copper conduit are pressed together tightly with little contact
electric resistance.
2) The soft copper conduit is made of copper bare wire with a cylindrical net
structure, the current is distributed equally on the cable which can lower
reactance.
3) The outer layer pipe of the cable is made of heat resistance wear resistance,
voltage resisting rubber. Bumper protection sleeves can be offered at user’s
option, the sleeves are used to avoid the rubbing among the rubber pipes during
operation, thus the service life of the cable is extended.
4) The connection of the copper joint and the rubber pipe is strengthened by hoops
which are pressed by special equipment, this connection structure can bear
0.6Mpa hydraulic pressure.
