2. Plot
The main character is already on his journey as
the introduction shows Chris (Main Character)
outside, already in his travelling gear looking out
into the sunset, ready to begin his journey.
His back story will be covered with the use of a
non-diegetic narrative that fits in with the
soundtrack to give a continuous flow to the
trailer.
Chris (Main character) is introduced to the
audience through a narration of his back story
so the audience can collect information on the
main character. From the beginning of the
trailer his journey across the country has already
begun.
Chris is introduced to the audience through a
close up shot of his clothes leading up to his
face to fully show the main character.
Chris`s journey is focused on his ambition for
freedom, nature and experience. He finds
solitude within the ambience of natural
landscapes, clear skies and a clear mind.
Throughout his journey he will encounter a
multitude of mind sets, experiences and
landscapes.
The plot is simple, to find solace and a clear
mind within the ambience of nature, away from
society.
Main Character
One Main Character
Name: Chris Bishop
Characteristics: Adventurous, fun, happy, insightful
Setting
Most of the setting will feature natural
landscapes, from the introduction to the end of
the trailer; it will consist of mostly landscape shots
with the main character present within most of
the scenes.
As the trailer is short and an adventure film, it
makes sense for most of the footage to be filmed
mostly outside.
A lot of the scenes are filmed at sunset so the
shots will align with the tone of the music. With
the sunset shots it makes the film more inspiring
and appealing to audiences. The natural
landscapes help to create a more connective
and well flowing trailer as it involves the themes
of adventure, nature and travel.
3. Lighting
Most of the scenes will be
accompanied by natural
lighting as all of the trailer will be
outside. With some scenes being
on different days, locations and
environments it means that
consequently some of the
scenes will have different
lighting and weather. I like to
use this as an advantage to cut
up the scenes as to make it look
like the main character has
been travelling for a long time.
Costume & Props
The costume will consist of two t-shirts; white
and red as the colour creates a warm, loving
feeling with a powerful drive for success. His
coat is an old army coat of his late fathers as
well as his rucksack that he his is always
carrying.
He wears normal blue jeans and
climbing/walking boots (which are established
in the first scene) to show to the audience that
his journey will consist of long distances and
periods of walking.
The only props will be the cigarettes the main
character smokes along the way and this is to
give a sense of a calm and internally collected
person.
Cinematography
I have incorporated many creative camera shots into my film teaser trailer.
Many scenes include low angle shots of the landscape and the main character as he walks past
the camera.
Multiple tracking shots of the main character as he walks across the landscape.
A few shots consist of the camera moving from side to side to establish the look of the main
character and his reaction.
Throughout the trailer there will be many low angle shots, dolly shots and establishing shots.
The trailer will create a sense of calm so a lot of the shots will have colourful sunsets in the
background and landscape shots.
4. Sound
From the start of the trailer the scenes will be accompanied by a low tone non-diegetic
sound that will become increasingly loud as the trailer progresses.
As the main character is introduced to the camera his non-diegetic narration will overlap
the background music so the main focus is on the narration.
Many diegetic and also non-diegetic sounds of natural animals i.e. birds chirping and
crickets will appear very softly in the background to give the trailer and atmosphere a very
natural feel.
Editing
The trailer will start at a calm, slow pace which sets the tone for the rest of the trailer. As the
progression continues to introduce the main character, the pace of the trailer will speed up
slightly, increasing in cutting shots which lead on to the next clip. With the use of fading in and out
of a select few scenes it will set the tone for not only the genre, but for the trailer itself.
