28. CN III: CONNECTIONS
THE MAIN OCULOMOTOR NUCLEUS RECEIVES
Corticonuclear fibers from both cerebral hemispheres.
Tectobalbar fibers from the superior colliculus (through this route
it receives information from visual cortex).
fibers from MLF by which it is connected to the 4th, 6th & 8th
cranial nerves.
ACCESSORY PARASYMPATHETIC NUCLEUS RECEIVES
Corticonuclear fibers for the accommodation reflex
Fibers from the pretectal nucleus for direct & consensual light
reflex.
35. TROCHLEAR NERVE (IV)- View from below
• Only cranial nerve to emerge dorsally
• Crossed cranial nerve
• Very long and slender

46. The trigeminal nerve emerges from anterolateral
surface of the pons as a large sensory root & a
small motor root.
These root continue forward from posterior cranial
fossa to middle cranial fossa by passing over the
medial tip of petrous part of temporal bone.
CN V: Trigeminal Nerve
(Course)
53. Mandibular nerve gives rise to four terminal branches in
the infra-temporal fossa:
Buccal nerve, Inferior alveolar nerve, Auriculotemporal
nerve and Lingual nerve.
These branches innervate the skin, mucous membrane
of
• Floor of oral cavity
• External ear
• Lower lip
• Chin
• Anterior 2/3rd of tongue(only general sensation)
• Lower molar,Incisor and canine teeth and associated
gingiva.
