• Task 0.1) Getting to know the platform.
• Remark: You will have real access to the Toledo
environment once you have officially registered as a
student (Oct 10th).
• Task 0.1a) Open the Toledo tutorials and go to the
introduction on to how to use Toledo (
http://toledo.kuleuven.be/english/students). This site will be
of help when you are going to work in this curriculum. You
can already discover our VLE (Virtual Learning
Environment) via: http://tinyurl.com/mdhdzta. Once you
have full access (Oct 10th) you can change your personal
settings as well as the notification settings.

• Task 0.1b) Prepare your E-portfolio. Present yourself.
Make a short presentation of yourself by telling who you
are, what you like, which organisations you are connected
to, … What are your interests and hobbies, working
experience. Present this as from Oct 10th in your portfolio.
Upload a digital photo of yourself to the E-portfolio.
Remember to add your e-mail address and other contact
details. You can find an example here:

• Task 0.2a) Get a Google account if you do not have one
already. Put this Google account e-mail address in your E-portfolio
under contact details. (The e-mail address you’ve
used to register)
• Task 0.2b) Open the Webex training center. Check your
sound and microphone with the audio wizard and become
familiar with the Webex meeting room. (This is the
conference room we offer you to use for meetings when
appropriate).

• Task 0.2c) Get membership of the Zotero Usergroup
"Community Service Engineering". (Zotero is a free, easy-to-
use tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share
your research sources.)
• Download and install Zotero at https://www.zotero.org/

• Task 0.3a) Present your learning objectives and
expectations for the course in your E-portfolio (on a new
page as from Oct 10th) and plan your work schedule for
CSE. At which days of the week, timing, … can you make
yourself available? Present this in your E-portfolio. (time
availability – matching for group work)

• Task 0.3b) Examine the ‘real life project ideas’ in the pool
(Cera Award project ideas, ideas from research groups,
ideas from companies or international organisations).
Name 2 projects you would like to undertake, let us know if
you would like to work individually or in group (max. 3
people) on this project, rank the projects of your choice in
your order of preference. Write down the motivation for
your choices (200 words), what are your strengths and
weaknesses to undertake this project and why have you
chosen it. Write this down in your E-portfolio.
