This paper presents an effective algorithm to locate Single Line to Ground (SLG) fault at a transmission line. Post fault voltages and currents from both substation terminals were used as the input parameters to the algorithm. Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) was used to extract the magnitudes and phase angles of three phase voltages and currents. The modeling of the transmission line along with the algorithm was performed using Matlab/Simulink package. The results of fault location for SLG faults along the transmission line demonstrated the validity of the algorithm used even for high resistance earth fault.

Faults in underground cable may cause loss of supply to customers and loss of revenue for suppliers so it is imperative that the fault location process is efficient and accurate to minimise excavation time, which results in reducing inconvenience to all concerned. DC testing has been accepted for many years as the standard field method for performing high-voltage tests on cable insulation systems. Whenever DC testing is performed, full consideration should be given to the fact that steady-state direct voltage creates within the insulation systems an electrical field determined by the geometry and conductance of the insulation, whereas under service conditions, alternating voltage creates an electric field determined chiefly by the geometry and dielectric constant (or capacitance) of the insulation. Under ideal, homogeneously uniform insulation conditions, the mathematical formulas governing the steady-state stress distribution within the cable insulation are of the same form for DC and for AC, resulting incomparable relative values; however, should the cable insulation contain defects in which either the conductivity or the dielectric constant assume values significantly different from those in the bulk of the insulation,the electric stress distribution obtained with direct voltage will no longer correspond to that obtained with alternating voltage.

- This paper proposes a new technique of using discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and back-propagation neural network (BPNN) based on Clarke’s transformation for fault classification and detection on a single circuit transmission line. Simulation and training process for the neural network are done by using PSCAD / EMTDC and MATLAB. Daubechies4 mother wavelet (DB4) is used to decompose the high frequency components of these signals. The wavelet transform coefficients (WTC) and wavelet energy coefficients (WEC) for classification fault and detect patterns used as input for neural network training back-propagation (BPNN). This information is then fed into a neural network to classify the fault condition. A DWT with quasi optimal performance for preprocessing stage are presented. This study also includes a comparison of the results of training BPPN and DWT with and without Clarke’s transformation, where the results show that using Clarke transformation in training will give in a smaller mean square error (MSE) and mean absolute error (MAE). The simulation also shows that the new algorithm is more reliable and accurate.

While keeping the KV cache of all text chunks in memory is difficult, we show that it is possible to store them on cheaper yet slower storage. By improving the loading process of the reused KV caches, we can still significantly speed up prefill delay while maintaining the same generation quality.

This is a classic migration case study (the past, current and the future) at scale from a world-wide company transitioning from Confluent Platform and Confluent Cloud to self-managed Apache Kafka on Kubernetes using Strimzi. At Maersk, we have been architecting, designing and implementing our 3rd generation Event Streaming Platform. This platform is based on Kubernetes in Azure and using Strimzi to operate Apache Kafka at large scale, highly reliable, segregating data based on isolated use cases. Our 2nd generation was based on OnPrem Confluent Platform and Confluent Cloud and this presentation is the story of this migration and reasoning behind it. Furthermore, we would get into details on how we monitor (Grafana, Prometheus), alert (GoAlert and alert as code), operate and provide self-service solutions on top of Strimzi to enable business critical application in Maersk, implemented in GoLang using the GitOps deployment model with Flux and Kustomization among others. Finally, if time allows we will end with a demo of an open-source self service tool to monitor and explore the cluster with most wanted features such as topic message browsing and configuring and restarting connectors.
