Some key stats included having the most rooms available and rooms sold, the highest year-to-date occupancy since 1997 at 61.3%, and the highest year-to-date average daily rate and revenue per available room ever at $116 and $71, respectively. Independent hotels make up 42% of the total US hotel industry and are weighted toward lower hotel segments like economy and midscale. Factors that could affect future independent hotel performance are discussed.
