– Is any linguistic expression that has a relation between
the utterance and the thing(s) or person(s) that being
referenced, in a language.
4. What is Reference and Denotation?
– Reference is a relation between a word that associated with its concept, and
referenced with the object.
– Example :

– Denotation is the literal meaning of or the actual definition of a word.

contributed and widen the meaning of its utterance or sentence itself.
– There are two kinds of sense relation, they are:
– a) Syntagmatic : A relation that deals with how each word should be arranged
in order to give wider meaning.

realized that my mom wasn’t at home.” There was someone else
who called me that day.

– Denotation is literal meaning, while Connotation is affection meaning.
– Sense Relation has two kinds of form:
1) Syntagmatically, or how it should be arranged into grammatically order.
2) Paradigmatically, or how many choice of word that have same sense of meaning
and can be chosen to be inserted into an utterance.
– Lexical Meaning deals with individual meaning of word.
– Grammatical Meaning deals with how a single word, can have different sense of
meaning in an utterance or sentence.
– Sentence Meaning deals with implied meaning that being uttered or stated in a
sentence.
