THE PIZZA AND THE PIZZA MAKER
GOALS:
-Breathing activity within emotional education.
-Focus the attention on the moment.
-To promote self control trough relaxing and breathing.
- To disconnect from a previous activity, normally stressing or
physically exciting, such as physical education class, an exam or a
test, a rainy day without playground time, sports or games at
break times.
- To increase, step by step and through practice, the attention
capacity for improving the creative way of problem resolution.
- To share respectfully the moment for doing the relaxing and
breathing exercises .
✳ During all the mindfulness practice, everybody is
consciousness breathing, slowly and carefully, as the teacher
will remind before starting and later again.
DESCRIPTION:
First step: All students come into class from the previous period➡
and the teacher asks them to sit down on their chairs and to put
the backs straight and the hands and arms on the table and the
head on the arms in a relaxed way. Arms must be relaxed and
they must sit down comfortably and then close their eyes for a few
moments.
Second step: They work in pairs. One will be first the pizza dough➡
and the other will be the pizza maker. Later they will change the
roles.
Third step: The teacher➡ asks the pizza maker to stand up and to
start to knead the dough, which is the partners back, calmly, and
following the voice and the instructions as well as they, both, are
breathing deeply and listening to a relaxing and low music that
must be sounding as a background from the beggining of the
activity and will last for all the time that it takes.
Fourth step: Then the teacher starts to ask the pizza maker to➡
add ingredients, slowly, one by one, to the pizza dough, and,
they do so just using their imagination and fingers to feel it and
make the partner feel it so on the back.
Fifth step: At this point, the teacher asks the pizza maker to put➡
the pizza in the oven, and make it hot, so the pizza maker warms
up with the breath the neck of the partner...who represents the
pizza.
Then, they will change the roles, and the pizza maker will sit down
and will become the pizza dough.
Final step: to end the practice, everybody must recover the➡
position from the beginning of the whole activity and listen
carefully again to the teacher's voice who will ask them if they
liked the activity or not, and how much. Their personal opinions
are recognized as very important for everybody in the class.
