2. The mast head gives the name of the magazine and is rarely positioned
anywhere but the top centre of the magazine. Here, it is coloured orange in the
VOGUE font which is unique to this magazine and the colour makes it stand
out. Because of the high profile that the magazine has, part of the mast head is
hidden by Gigi’s head and hand because people will know what it says anyway.
The main image denotes Gigi
Hadid; a very famous
supermodel. This means the
target audience will be drawn to
this particular magazine because
if someone of such high status
is on the front cover then it
must be a good mag-celebrity
endorsement. The background
which she is stood in front of
has been blurred which allows
the audience to read the cover
lines more easily. She is looking
into the camera and the shot is
an eyelevel medium close-up
which makes the audience feel
like she's looking at them. This
draws them to the magazine.
Her name is also printed in large
typography which is further
celebrity endorsement, urging
people to buy the magazine.
The coversine's outline the main
image of Gigi which creates the
idea that they act as a frame.
They're printed in about 3
different fonts but kept to the
white and orange colour scheme so
they don’t overpower the image.
That size of the font for the
coversine's id also kept to a
maximum of 3 sizes for the same
reasons. They give snippets of
information of what is inside the
magazine and key words are
highlighted with either an italic
font or in larger typography. The
majority of the fonts used on the
front cover are sans serif which
gives the idea that the magazine is
quite informal and friendly.
The main cover line states “Your
STYLE FORECAST” which
singles out the reader and makes
them feel drawn to the magazine
because they feel like it is aimed at
them. It is also written in a lager
font which signifies that this is
what the publisher wants the
audience to read first
There is a small indication to
the date so the customers
know when it was issued.
3. The magazine
name is larger in
size than the
contents title
which is not
typical for a
contents page.
There's advertisement
for a product and a
headline which is
promoting
subscription to the
magazine to boost
sales
Here is where the regulars
are listed although the title
doesn’t state obviously.
However, they don’t need
to state that because
people who regularly buy
the magazine will know
what it means.
This is where the special
features are found and it is
highlighted in red font so its
clear for the reader to
identify where the
descriptions of the contents
start.
Each article is
labelled with a page
number so the reader
can find the page
without problems.
Under the title of
each article there is a
short description of
what to expect in
that article.
Contents title at the top along with
the date so we know what the page is
and when the issue was published
The contents page is colour schemed and overall very simply laid
out so the reader doesn’t get distracted whilst finding what to read.
