2. After the tragic collapse of the garment factory building (Rana Plaza) in
Dhaka, Bangladesh in April 2013, which killed 1,129 people and injured
several hundreds, US-based Health and Education for All, Inc. launched a
health care delivery system named “Health Call”. Heath-Call is an on-site
diagnostic and treatment program run by a network of local and
international (USA) primary and specialty physicians, and trained Health and
Information Workers (HIW) for on-site data collection, patient’s sample
collection for lab tests, follow-up visits and medicine distribution.
In August 2013, feasibility for a mobile phone-based health care delivery
system and a survey for the physical and mental health of the workers in
three large garment factories (>3,000 employees in each factory) were
carried out in collaboration with BRAC Health and Health Awareness
Foundation in Dhaka.
