 The sequence of employment positions that an
individual held over his life.
 One starts his career as Sales intern to Sales officer
then to Sales officer then sales team leader etc.
 Exploration
 Establishment
 Mid career
 Late career
 Decline
 The transition of school life to work or practical life.
 Usually ends in mid twenties
 Prior to employment
 Least relevance to organization
 Unrealistic expectations
 Mr.Luqman applied for a job in nestle
company
 Nestle has good will
 He started to expect a 6 digit salary and
car as well
 It does not happens
 He will not work efficiently
 Results in Frustration for employee and
employer.
 Strategies
 Internships programs
 Cooperative educational program
 A career stage in which one begins to search
for work and finds a great job
 It is indeed dominated by two major
problems
1. Finding a niche
2. Making your mark
 A career stage marked by continuous improvement in
performance, leveling off in performance, or beginning
deterioration of performance.
 Continue to grow
 Plateaued mid career
 Bad performance ( deteriorate)
 That stage of career in which individuals no longer
learning about their jobs nor expected to outdo level of
performance from previous years.
 Elder states person
 those who have declined may experience job insecurity
 plateauing is expected; life off the job increases in
importance
 may be most difficult for those who were most
successful at earlier stages
 today’s longer life spans and legal protections for older
workers open the possibility for continued work
contributions, either paid or volunteer
