“long lost” – reminds me of
fantasy and fairy tales
1) Begins with a CU tracking shot of the girl’s
feet as she walks into the woods (sepia filter
used to imply a traditional fairy tale)
Cut to a high angle canted shot of the girl
walking, showing the enormity of the woods
(sepia filter fades into a cold blue one to
suggest a chilling atmosphere)
2) “hollow inside” – skeleton.
CU shots of girl’s face and
antagonist’s face to show the
contrast between them. (gothic
feature - otherness) Antagonist’s
face is juxtaposed over the girl’s
face.
4) Girl looking around, ECU of
the antagonist behind trees,
watching the girl. This section
is very chaotic with lots of cuts
between the girl and the
Other; representing the girl’s
panic.
3) MCU of the side of her
frightened face – the antagonist
comes towards her and leans over
her shoulder. The girl turns
around – antagonist is nowhere to
be seen.
5) The girl is scared and climbs up a tree,
but the antagonist grabs her leg –
sequence of OTS shots as the antagonist
tries to pull her down. The girl falls to the
ground (slow motion) and pulls a knife
from the basket, but when she turns
around, the antagonist has disappeared.
8) Setting changes to inside a house in
a bathroom. Girl washes the blood
from her hands thoroughly in the sink.
6) Girl looks down at the knife she
holds by her side. CU shot of her
horrified face as she drops what she
thinks is a clean knife, now stained
with blood.
7) ECU of knife on the ground - Basket
turned over and girl running away in
the background.
9) She looks up slowly into the
mirror. Disgusted, she takes a pen
and furiously writes ‘SAVE ME’ on
the mirror.
10) The lights begin to flicker on and off.
In the mirror she sees the antagonist,
who gets increasingly closer. As he goes
to grab her shoulder she turns around
screaming. She sinks down to the floor,
screaming, crying and covering her ears.
Numerous shots of the antagonist
whispering in her ear and CUs of his face
juxtaposed over the scene.
11) Cut to bed room lit with low
key lighting. Girl is in her bed,
hunched up. She hears whispering
under the bed so looks
underneath.
12) The antagonist’s face is shown
and his hand reaches out of the
darkness to grab the girl when the
video cuts to black suddenly.
13) Post song scene – mirroring
beginning of the girl skipping into the
woods – pedestal movement upwards
shows it is not the girl, but the
antagonist.
