Emotional intelligence involves self awareness, social awareness, self management, and relationship management. It allows people to relate better to others, form healthier relationships, achieve greater success at work, and lead a more fulfilling life. The document discusses each of the four components of emotional intelligence and provides examples. It explains why emotional intelligence is important for performance at work, physical and mental health, and relationships. The document provides tips on how to develop emotional intelligence and concludes that while IQ is important, emotional intelligence may be more important for success in life.

 We all have different personalities, different wants &
needs, and different ways of showing our emotions.
 If we hope to succeed in life we need to navigate
through this and all it takes tact and cleverness.
 It is a distinct combination of emotional and social
skills and competencies that influence our overall
capability to cope effectively with demands and
pressure of work and life.

 Your understanding of your strengths
and weakness, your motivation factors,
and how and why you respond to
situation in particular way.
 It enables us to sustain our behavior
over time , despite setbacks.

It is ability to hear and understand other’s
thoughts, feeling and concerns, even when
partly expressed or unspoken.
 It’s being aware of others needs.

 It is how effectively we manage our
own emotions, and how well we control
our responses to new or challenging
situations.
 Emotional self-control is the ability to
keep impulsive feelings and emotion
under control.

Relationship management (social
skills) is our ability to apply emotional
understanding in our dealings with
others.
It includes the ability to develop
relationships, build rapport (trust).

9. Why is emotional intelligence so important?

Emotional intelligence can help you
navigate the social complexities of the
workplace, lead and motivate others, and
excel in your career.
In fact, many companies now view
emotional intelligence as being as important
as technical ability and require EQ testing
before hiring.

Uncontrolled stress can raise blood pressure,
suppress the immune system, increase the risk
of heart attack, contribute to infertility, and
speed up the aging process.
The first step to improving emotional
intelligence is to learn how to relive stress.

Uncontrolled stress can also impact your
mental health, making you vulnerably to
anxiety and depression.
If you are unable to understand and
manage your emotions, you’ll also be
open to mood swings.
An inability to form strong relationships
can leave you feeling lonely and isolated.

By understanding your emotions and
how to control them, you’re better able
to express how you feel and understand
how others are feeling.
This allows you to communicate more
effectively and forge stronger
relationships.

13. EI is our ability to recognize, understand
and regulate our emotions and to respond
those emotions in constructive ways.
We need to understand, manage & control
our emotion.
Its developed over time and place
environment, time play important roles in
development of EI.

average and people with IQ more than 135+
are considered gifted. Einstein had IQ of
160+.
IQ is number derived from standardized
intelligence test.
EQ is a measure of persons level of Emotional
