Who Are They?
 The Salvation Army, as an international
movement, is an evangelical branch of the
Christian Church. Its message is based on the
Bible.
 Its ministry is motivated by love for God and a
practical concern for the needs of humanity.

What’s Their Mission?
 To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, supply
basic human needs, provide personal counseling
and undertake the spiritual and moral
regeneration and physical rehabilitation of all
persons in need who come within its sphere of
influence regardless of race, color, creed, sex or
age.
What’s Their Mandate?
 To offer a
seamless holistic
ministry which
addresses the
practical needs
and evangelizes
the soul for Christ.

 Helping people at their point of practical
need with appropriate support.
What do They do?
 Provide food, clothing, counseling, referrals,
camping, support groups, emergency
transportation and supplementary aid to those in
need.
 At Christmas they do the “Toy Mountain” drive
and give bags of toys to families that are low in
income or in need.
What do They do?
 The Ontario Central Division of the Salvation Army
operates 21 Family Services.
 Various support groups in family services include:
- Bible Studies
- Parent and Tot Groups
- Cooking On a Budget
- Showers & laundry facilities
- Individual and Family Counselling
- Budget Management & Trusteeship
- Child & Youth Camping Opportunities
- Homelessness prevention program
- Child/Adult Anger Management
- Christmas Assistance

 Anyone who needs help.

 The Salvation Army also provide financial

The Salvation Army partners with hundreds of
volunteers annually to assist with programs and
special events. Long and short term volunteer
opportunities for individuals and groups include:
 Food & clothing sorting
 Reception & office assistance
 Janitorial & Maintenance
 Warehouse workers & drivers
 Christmas toy sorting & packing
 Christmas elf tree tag program
 Emergency disaster assistance
