Examples of inquiry-based, collaborative and reflective learning approaches using tools like virtual worlds, blogs and social media are also provided.
This document discusses how Botany Downs Kindergarten in New Zealand has embraced technology integration in early childhood education. It began when teachers observed children texting and taking photos on obsolete cell phones, realizing they needed to incorporate the children's technology skills into learning. They have since integrated iPads, interactive whiteboards, movie-making, blogging and Skype to foster both individual and shared learning. Teachers act as role models by using technology for tasks like meetings and professional development. While starting with basic skills, the kindergarten aims to achieve "redefinition" by using technology for new activities not previously possible.
The document discusses the emergence of online learning as the second strand of education alongside formal education. It argues that online learning enables a connection-centric model where learners are connected to mentors, content, and conversations. The role of parents is shifting to that of learner facilitators who understand learners' needs, curate appropriate online content, and help learners make sense of fragmented online information. With the rise of Web 2.0 technologies, the web is becoming the classroom where learners can learn from many knowledgeable others. When guided well, online learning can make learners more autonomous and self-directed.
The document discusses the history and success of e-learning. It notes that e-learning uses internet technologies to deliver broad solutions that enhance knowledge and performance. The document then reviews the history of e-learning and how it has evolved from early technologies to modern implementations. It also discusses some of the benefits of e-learning, such as increased productivity, supporting new learning approaches, and its just-in-time flexible nature.

Management der Kernbank IT

The document discusses common modes of dynamic behavior in systems including exponential growth, goal seeking, and oscillation. Exponential growth is characterized by constant doubling time. Goal seeking behavior diminishes in rate of change as the goal is approached. Oscillation occurs when actions to eliminate discrepancies from a goal overshoot and undershoot due to time delays. These behaviors can interact, such as s-shaped growth that initially grows exponentially and then levels off due to constraints, or may overshoot and oscillate due to delays. Other behaviors discussed include equilibrium, randomness, and chaos.

This document provides a rationale and resources for teaching about the five senses to kindergarten students using technology. It recommends using websites, YouTube videos, Pinterest boards, podcasts, and apps to make learning about sight, sound, smell, taste and touch fun and interactive. Activities include a Sesame Street video on senses, a Kidspiration diagram for students to describe sensory experiences, and interactive games identifying senses. The document also provides links to general educational resources like NSTA, National Geographic Kids, Scholastic, and Teachers Pay Teachers to find lesson plans and materials about the five senses.
The document discusses the importance of lifelong learning for people of all ages. It suggests that:
1) Children should be educated with lessons that are interesting, creative, and true, taught by dedicated school teachers with support from involved parents.
2) Adults need to keep learning to update their skills and understand new generations, possibly through online courses on teaching or parenting.
3) Even older adults can continue learning interesting topics to stay engaged and help educate their grandchildren.
The document proposes creating online learning platforms to assist teachers and engage students, as well as community events to promote these ideas. Lifelong learning at all stages is emphasized.
MissionV - Virtual Worlds Technology for the support of High Potential Students MissionV
Presentation given in Second Life by Margaret Keane of MissionV Education Ltd at the Bavarian Center for Gifted and Talented Children Global Gifted Conference, May 28th 2011
Use of 3D Immersive Technology for the Support of Gifted LearnersGiftedkids.ie
Short version of Margaret Keane's (Giftedkids.ie) and James Corbett's (Daynuv.com) presentation on their virtual worlds schools project MissionV to the Irish Teaching Learning Festival, Dublin, October 16th 2010
The document discusses how increased screen time and lack of outdoor time for children has led to issues like increased obesity and mental health disorders. It proposes that a new mobile app called Nature Passport could help address this by using gamification and geocaching techniques to motivate kids to get outside and engage in outdoor educational activities that integrate science and math. The app would be developed by organizations like IslandWood and Nature Play Australia and would have a soft launch at the 2014 World Parks Congress in Sydney.
This document discusses teaching e-safety as part of the new Computing curriculum. It aims to raise awareness of e-safety risks and trends, understand where e-safety fits into the curriculum and Ofsted framework, audit current practice, and provide resources. It discusses how e-safety protects pupils in their technology use and supports intervention. Good practice includes an age-appropriate e-safety curriculum that teaches safety and responsibility. Current trends from an Ofcom survey show children prioritize popularity over risks and may not consider their digital footprint. Resources are provided to help create an e-safety curriculum.

The webinar concluded with recommendations for sharing framing strategies to build broader support for early STEM education.
The Elders provided perspectives on the meaning and benefits of literacy in three areas:
1. Community concerns and aspirations - Literacy is important for cultural survival and passing knowledge to future generations as well as strengthening relationships between Elders and youth.
2. Social gains and life skills - Literacy enables basic tasks like reading signs and doctor's orders as well as improving social and recreational interactions and understanding how society functions.
3. Education and professional success - Literacy "opens doors" and leads to self-esteem, degrees, and employment opportunities as well as computer literacy and advanced theoretical knowledge. Overall, literacy encompasses skills for daily living through to college-level education.
This document summarizes three articles about using technology to assist students with disabilities. The first article discusses considerations for assistive technology decisions during IEP meetings. The second describes how iPad applications help students with communication and learning. The third highlights a technology summer camp that engaged students through internet activities. The summaries identify the key topics, benefits discussed, and legal acts related to providing technology accommodations.

4. Exceptionally able children can be found in all socio-economic groups and
in all communities. It is Giftedkids’ vision to see an education system in
place which allows for the early identification and support of all
exceptionally able children in Ireland, regardless of their socio-economic
background, culture or learning challenges, so that early potential can be
recognised and successfully guided towards achievement.
5. Giftedkids.ie is a web based support and advocacy voluntary group which provides
online supports for parents, teachers and exceptionally able children in Ireland. Our
mission is to build an online gifted community where parents and teachers can
share their unique experiences, offer support and ask for advice. We advocate on
behalf of gifted children by promoting awareness of gifted issues to the general
public and special interest groups through the use of ICT tools such as social media
(Twitter), webinar technology, podcasting and a GK youtube video channel. We
also advocate with education policy makers and individual schools around the
possible development of a gifted education policy for schools.
