2. ● After changing ideas, I quickly realised my new
artist hypothetically perhaps wouldn't be signed
to 'Fueled By Ramen', as they both are different
musically. While they still perhaps are
glamorous, I wouldn't say my latest track, which
I identified as being 'Electronic Dance Music', is
as Rocky, therefore, I set about research
another Record Label my artist could potentially
be signed to, if in the real world.
3. ● Before, in my previous Record Label research, I
stated how my track's artist could potentially
come from 'Fueled by Ramen'. This time,
however, I'm going to go for an even smaller
label and bring forward 'Big Beat' for my artist
to hypothetically be a part of. Artists such as
Knife Party, Martin Solveig, Icona Pop and
Skrillex have all be a part of this label...
4. ● 'Big Beats Records' is an American owned record label
owned by Warner Music Group, operating as a
subsidiary of Atlantic Records.
● It was founded as an Indie label in 1987 by 22-year old
New York DJ, Craig Kallman; the company initially
operated out of Kallman's parent's apartment.
● Kallman and Big Beat was brought into the Atlantic
stable in 1991 by David Morris, head of Atlantic
Records after receiving success on the underground
dance music circuit.
● Atlantic then purchased the label outright in 1992.
5. How are Big Beat products
distributed?
● Aside from the internet, there are several
means to how their products could be
distributed. These include artist CDs;
gigs/concerts/music events and it goes without
saying, social media. On the next slide, I will
give you specific examples of product
distribution by said company:
6. Big Beat are one of the labels
of Australian Electronic Dance
Music duo, Knife Party; who
are featuring at various
worldwide festivals throughout
the summer. Their UK features include
Creamfields Festival in Halton and SW4
Festival in London.
As part of duo, Jack Ü (with Diplo), Skrillex
Is performing at both, Reading and Leeds
Festival this year.
Martin Solveig also has 20 day residency
At Pacha in Ibiza, along with a
Lollapalooza in Berlin, Germany
appearance.
7. ● In conclusion, I believe my track could
hypothetically come from an artist signed under
'Big Beats Records'. This record label have
helped to steady the careers of current well
known Electronic Dance Music artists such as
those featured in this presentation, which would
only mean big things for my very own artist if
this was the case; allowing my artist to thrive in
comfortable business deal.
