1. Evaluation task 2
Question: How does your media product represent
particular social groups?
In are film opening we only represent the main
character’s social group due to this is the only
character is not possessed. We have more than
one character in the film opening but they are seen
to be the same. This is is due to the factor that we
wanted them to feel like that they are on there own
and have no personality. So basically they are
represented as outcasts in sociality because they
are staying away from other social groups. For
example we make this obvious in one of the shots,
as you can see the possessed character is in the
corner, this is representing that he is hiding away
from society and what he has become.
For the main character we made it obvious to
the audience that he was a main role due to
showing his face at the end of the sequence.
We made him be in a high social group. You
can tell this by looking at the mise-en-scene.
For example his clothes suggest that he is in a
high social class. We represent with various
shots, but the most obvious one we have of
the character is when we see his face from a
low angle shot to repent that he is the
dominant character in the film. As you can see
he is looking down at his son to suggest that
he is the dominant character.
So in conclusion the characters that we represented in are media product was the social outcasts
and the upper class social group. I believe we represented this very well due to the factor of the
thought process behind it.
