Erasmus project essay Protecting Nature through Alternative Energy Sources by Paula, Romania
1. Protecting Nature through Alternative Energy Sources
(essay by Paula Spătăcean, the 9th class a, BET, "Constantin Noica" Theoretical
High School Sibiu, Romania, coordinated by her teacher Petrina Dobrotă)
From my point of view, I could say that nature is a wonderful place left on
this Earth where we can find the peace of mind we all need. If I describe nature
from a poetic point of view, I would attribute beautiful human qualities to it
because it is a wise friend and more is the sacred temple where the songs of
thousands of birds are heard as a beautiful choir of suave voices.
Nature is like heaven on Earth, it is the house of many animals of all sorts
and of towering trees that rise upward as a springy wind. When we think of all of
these things, our hearts are affectionate and we think how we can keep this paradise
cleaner and purer.
We need to do something. It's up to us how we keep it. We all know there are
many sources of energy through which we can protect the miracle that has been left
in our hands. The most important energy sources are wind, solar, and hydraulic
energy. All have an important role in protecting nature.
Wind energy is a renewable energy source generated by wind power. It is
still a minor source of electricity. It is extensively used today and new wind
turbines are being built all over the world, with wind power being the fastest
growing energy source in recent years. Most turbines produce energy over 25% of
the time, this percentage increases in winter when the winds are stronger.
2. The main advantage of wind energy is the emission of 0 of pollutants and
greenhouse gases due to the fact that no fuels are burned. There is no waste. Wind
does not involve the production of any kind of waste. Costs are reduced per unit of
energy produced. The cost of electricity produced in modern wind power plants has
fallen substantially in recent years, reaching the US, even lower than in the case of
fuel-based energy.
Solar energy refers to a renewable energy source that is directly produced by
light and by solar radiation. It is available in immense quantities, is inexhaustible
and is ecological. Solar energy capture means are not polluting and have no
harmful effects on the atmosphere.
Hydraulic energy is the ability of a physical system to perform a mechanical
work when moving from one position to another. The idea of using the energy of
the watercourses is extremely old. The existence and use of water wheels is
documented in the third millennium BC in China and Ancient Egypt. They were
built in three variants: upper, lateral or inferior intake, and increased wheel power
through the processing of a bigger specific hydraulic energy.
Turning back by the Time Machine, we found out that even the old men had
a brilliant mind to discover new ways to protect nature and especially energy
production. We have learned a lot from them, but now it is up to us to keep the
nature cleaner and no more "pollution". If it were after me, I would set up a pro-
nature campaign to learn all about it and of course to do everything possible to stop
rubbish litter and factories to be reduced to the maximum. I wish success in
keeping the beautiful nature we were entrusted to ourselves!
