5. WHAT IS ROCK ?
The materials of the earth`s crust
or lithosphere are generally
called as rocks.
Or
Rocks are the aggregates of one or
more than one minerals.

7. IGNEOUS ROCKS
• The igneous rocks are formed due to cooling , solidification
and crystallization of hot and molten Material known as
magmas and lavas.
• Igneous rocks are also termed as primary rocks because
these were originated first of all the rocks.
• All the subsequent rocks are formed , weather directly or
indirectly, from igneous rocks , that`s why these are also
called parent rocks.

9. SEDIMENTRY ROCKS
• The sedimentary rocks are formed due to aggregation and
compaction of sediments.
• Sedimentry rocks are also called as stratified or layered
rocks because these rocks have different type of sediments.
• Sedimentry rocks are called as secondary rocks.

13. METAMORPHIC ROCKS
• The metamorphic rocks include rocks that have been
changed either in form or composition without weathring.
• Metamorphic rocks are generally formed due to changes in
form of sedimentry and igneous rocks.
• Sometimes , even previously formed metamorphic rocks are
again metamorphosed.
