An institution is an organisation or
company, public or privately owned that
produces and/or distributes media
products.
Conglomerates Independent
 This type of institution
is a major company that
owns other subsidiary
company's. One such
example of a
conglomerate is Disney,
Disney own a plethora
of subsidiary company's
from TV to movies.
 An independent
institution is exactly
what the name says.
 An independent
company that does not
have any links with a
conglomerate.
 They do not own any
subsidiaries.
 They tend to only
produce minor
products.
Types
Disney has a managed to establish a difference to
other companies and its subsidiaries with its positive,
Unique and instant brand image and logo.
Powerful institutions like conglomerates can
influence the attitudes, interests, beliefs, and
desires of people on a worldwide scale.
A conglomerate like Disney has
many subsidiary companies such as
but are not limited to; Marvel, Pixar,
Lucas Films. Click the image to see
more.
Fierce Productions is an independent film
company. It holds no subsidiaries, and only
produces independent films.
Fierce Productions being an independent company is free to
make and produce any film it chooses, one such film that
has been particularly successful is Honey Trap.
Fierce Productions worked in a partnership
with Bright Pictures on Honey Trap
My Film
A subsidiary is a company that is owned
by another, much larger, company. My Film

My film, Roulette, is based on the mafia and
their gambling, an action-thriller hybrid,
our film would most likely be distributed by
an independent institution.
If we thought logically, a group of A-
Level students are producing a film,
they would have to achieve their
budget via crowd funding and tax
credits. This would not amass to a big
budget. Therefore locations would be
limited as well as props, costume,
makeup, lighting, setting and casting.
Based on this its only logical that the
film would only be distributed by an
independent institution like; Fierce
productions and Bright pictures.

What cinemas will show my film?
Click to find out.
 Considering that my film would most likely be produced and
distributed by an independent production company, it makes
sense that my film would also be shown in an independent
cinema.
In the south east of England there are well over 60
independent cinemas, to which I may have my film
shown.

Unlike major cinemas, independent cinemas have no links to
conglomerates. This allows for independent films to be shown.
