SPECIAL LIBRARIES
A library concerned almost exclusively
with the literature of a particular
subject or group of subjects (Wright,
1968) .
A mission-oriented library that ranges
from a public-funded scientific and
technical research library to the private
sector corporate information center
(Okoro, 1999).

4. DEFINITIONS OF SPECIAL
LIBRARIES
Collects, organizes,
preserves, and
disseminates information
to its particular users
(Jegede and Towolawi,
2010) .
Collects updated and comprehensive information on the subject
concerned with the parent organization and disseminates the
information promptly to the people associated with the
organization on-demand and in anticipation (Ashikuzzaman,
2013).

5. DEFINITIONS OF
SPECIAL LIBRARIES
Established to serve the needs of
clientele groups such as scientists,
economists, statisticians, lawyers,
doctors, engineers, traders,
entrepreneurs, administrators, bankers,
military and paramilitary members, etc.
(Bilawar, 2013).

SPECIAL LIBRARIES
Collections are often heavily weighted
to one area of interest supporting a
specific user’s base (Online Computer
Library Center, 2020).
Serves a particular population, such as
the blind and physically handicapped or
dedicated to special collections
(American Library Association, 2020).
