BLIS-II
When I first entered Silliman University, I knew basically no one- no
acquaintances nor friends. Nevertheless, I was filled with excitement,
anticipation, and curiosity. As I stayed at the dormitory, attended my
classes, and participated in events, I met all sorts of people- of all ages,
courses, ethnicities, religions, and cultures. In those several months of
learning, as a College of Computer Studies student, I expanded my
knowledge on library science, and met a group of people, who later
became my circle of friends. Through them, I was able to expand my
horizons, not just academically, but also socially and emotionally.
As we near the month of August, people around me keep on sharing
their stories and expectations for a certain festival. Hibalag, they say. What
isHibalag? If you had asked me this question a year ago, I would've been
tongue-tied or at a loss for words. Lights were installed everywhere,
booths were being established, and the students were preparing to
showcase their colleges. As I stepped my foot into this world of colors, I can
happily say that I've never felt like I was a Sillimanian until that moment.
Being from one booth to another, I felt so euphoric and exhilarated. From
entering horror chambers and joining various activities, to tasting the
delicacies offered and having fun with my clique, I was able to experience
and learn a lot of things, and fully enjoy Hibalag as a holistic venture.
On this year's Hibalag season, I believe that we will still be able to
showcase everyone's creativity, and enjoy all the booths and gimmicks that
they will exhibit. The only difference is that I'm now more involved as a
member of the council in presenting the true purpose of Hibalag. As a
Sillimanian, this is only my sugilanon. What's yours?
