he Government of National Capital Territory
of Delhi (Amendment) Bill 2023 was moved
by Union Home Minister Amit Shah after
long hours of adjournments over Opposition protests
against the contentious move. The Lower House
passed the Bill by voice vote on August 3. With the
entire Opposition, barring the Biju Janata Dal and the
YSR Congress Party, standing behind the Aam Aad-
mi Party on the issue the opposition to the Bill was
stiff despite the outcome being known. The support
by the BJD and the YSRCP, though being on ex-
pected lines, came as a dampener for the opposition.
The peaceful discussion on the Bill, which one
witnessed in the Upper House on Monday, could
have taken place earlier too but for I.N.D.I.A. parties’
wrong assumption that the BJD and YSRCP would
side with them. Having failed to stop the Bill’s pas-

The issue was later taken up by the Minister of In-

MEMORY
OF SOURCE
We only know that we
were born; we don’t
even know how we
were born. Somewhere
from three or four years
of our age onwards,
we start understanding
things around us.
Our memory is very
short; it appears this
is our only life. We
are not aware of our
source. The moment we
become aware of your
source, and our infinite
past, our whole life
changes.
It’s just like someone
suddenly realises how
wealthy he or she is.
Immediately your style
of walking changes.
This is the awareness of
the source.
THEMYSTERIES
OFWEALTH
SRISRIRAVI
SHANKAR
The writer is an Indian yoga
guru, a spiritual leader,
founder of The Art of Living
ne of the
greatest illu-
sions created
in the world
is wealth.
There is so much disparity
in the world. There is no
logical reasoning or expla-
nation as to why someone
is born in Africa and suf-
fers for a piece of bread,
while there is surplus
bread elsewhere and is of-
ten wasted.; why some
dogs enjoy the comfort of
a home while others are
strays in the streets?
Wealth is something that
is bestowed on you. There
are eight types of wealth.
Wealth as material com-
fort: The first type of
wealth is what we com-
monly understand as
wealth - the material
wealth. Just being born in
Ford’s home, somebody
acquired all that wealth
without any effort. Why
does this happen when
somebody else had to toil
all his life to make money?
Why do some people in-
herit while others do not?
Wealth as health: Just
having money is not suf-
ficient. Some people may
have a lot of money but
they cannot eat well. They
may have diabetes or high
cholesterol. That wealth is
nothing. Some people do
not have money, but they
have enough to eat and
they are healthy. Like
many farmers in India:
they don’t have any money
but they have plenty of
food with them. Anyone
who goes to them is fed;
they can feed the whole
town. They can sleep well.
Wealth as success (Vi-
jaya Lakshmi): Some may
be born into a very wealthy
family, but they face failure
in whatever they do. They
are never successful in
whatever they undertake.
Wealth as courage: One
must see life as an adven-
turous game and should
play the game without
worrying about the out-
come, whether you win or
loose. But if one is afraid
of making mistakes or do-
ing anything, one lacks the
wealth of courage. If one
lacks the wealth of cour-
age, there is no fun in life
even if the person has a lot
of money. Someone may
not have any money, but if
they possess courage, they
reflect wealth.
Wealth as friendliness:
The fifth type of wealth is
friendliness,havingacaring
attitude, having a sense of
belonging. One may have
the other types of wealth,
but will still feel as though
in a tight compartment,
without a sense of belong-
ing. That is what happens at
most parties. Many rich
people go to a party just to
show off how rich they are,
but they feel so out of place.
You find sugar-coated mis-
ery there. Everybody is so
stiff. It’s like a war field ac-
tually. Parties are like a
competition ground or bat-
tlefield; everyone is carry-
ing a shield. That is no
wealth at all.
Wealth as skill: Another
wealth is having different
skills and talents. Some
people write well, some
are good in arguing, some
are good in debating, some
have a knack for music,
some have a wonderful
voice, some cook well,
some are talented in bring-
ing up a child, in adminis-
tration, and still others are
talented in completely dif-
ferent things. They put
their maximum efforts to
achieve what they want yet
they fail to achieve their
goal. Effort is not enough
to achieve one’s goal.
Wealth as dignity: The
world is full of lessons if
only we observe it with full
awareness. Be as humble
as the grass. Then nothing
can touch you, nothing. No
one can humiliate you. In
the eyes of the Divine, it is
those who serve creation,
are true kings and queens.
Walk like a king and be a
perfect servant!
Wealth as memory of the
source: We only know that
we were born; we don’t
even know how we were
born. Somewhere from
three or four years of our
age onwards, we start un-
derstanding things around
us. Our memory is very
short; it appears this is our
only life. We are not aware
of our source. The moment
we become aware of your
source, and our infinite
past, our whole life chang-
es. It’s just like someone

diately your style of walk-

Prime Minister Narendra

that Jammu and Kashmir
is the biggest example
where democracy has
been established at the
ground level after 2019,
following the abrogation
of Article 370.
Taking a dig at Con-
gress, PM Modi said for
over four decades after
the country’s independ-
ence, there were no ef-
forts to strengthen the
Panchayati Raj institu-
tions in the country.
Addressing a two-day
regional Panchayati Raj
council held in Haryana,
PM Modi said, “For four
decades after independ-
ence, the Congress did
not understand that how
necessary it is to imple-
ment the Panchayati Raj
system in the villages.
The District Panchayat
system that was formed
after this, it was left to its
own fate during the Con-
gress rule.
“During the Congress
regime, no concrete ef-
forts were taken to
strengthen the Panchaya-
ti Raj system. Maximum
work remained limited to
figures and documents.
Jammu and Kashmir is
the biggest example. In
the year 2019, after the
abrogation ofArticle 370
for the first time Gram
panchayat and district
level elections took place
in which over 33,000 lo-
cal public representatives
have been elected. For
the first time democracy
got established there on
ground level,” he said.
The Prime Minister
further said that after
2014, the BJP govern-
ment has worked a lot to
strengthen Panchayati
Raj and local Swaraj and
for Panchayati Raj bod-
ies a provision of over Rs
2 lakh crore had been
made which is three
times in compression to
the last government.
The Prime Minister
also urged party workers
to take the benefits of the
Panchayati Raj system to

in the last line of society.

On Sunday night, First
India had shown the exact
prevailing condition as
two renowned night clubs

Furthermore, there are
allegations of supply of
hookah and drugs in these
clubs and there are also
allegations of misbehav-

women by bouncers.
After the live of First

officers went to the actual

presence and the two of-
ficers arrived without any
police force and as a re-

ran away in front of these
officers. But not a single
arrest could be made due
to lack of police force.
Even as the response

“This will take the

“Similarly, we have also

of Raj dreams about
making Rajasthan one

government is moving
forward with
Gandhiji’s thoughts
and positive thinking.
I am not arrogant like
Modiji, I am a man
who listens to
criticism. It is being
said that Modiji will be
the face in Rajasthan.
Will he come to
Rajasthan to get the
road constructed? Will
Modi open CHC PHC,

‘Pratham Sevak’ of
Rajasthan I will

basis of work done in
last 5 years.
Ashok Gehlot,
CHIEF MINISTER
Many write history, but very few change geography.
CM Ashok Gehlot has changed the geography of the
State. Many incite religious sentiments to rule, but
CM Gehlot has done historic work. I feel proud that I
am the Revenue Minister in this era. The state
government has formed about 1500 revenue
villages, 125 sub-tehsils, 85 tehsils, 35 SDM, 13 ADM
offices and 19 districts with the concept of ‘Har Ghar
Nyay, Har Ghar Khushhali.

COPS DIDN’T ALLOW ME TO ENTER VENUE: SOLANKI 17 NEW DISTRICTS
FROM P1…
Congress MLA Ved Solanki has levelled a major
allegation and claimed that he was stopped from
attending the Chief Minister’s programme at Birla
Auditorium in Jaipur on Monday. Solanki accused police
and administration officials and took the name of police
officer Kunwar Rashtradeep. “I was neither allowed to enter
the auditorium nor allowed to go on stage. I came to ex-
press gratitude to the Chief Minister for making Jaipur rural
a district. But in the Congress government, Congress’ own
MLA was stopped by the police officers. Yet I stood outside
the Auditorium and listened to the programme for about two
hours,” he said.

The creation of districts reflects the vision of the
State govt for the all-round development of Raj.
RAMLUBHAYA, DIST FORMATION COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN
I’m bigger...
The CM said Modi gets
respect abroad only be-
cause people there know
that he is from Mahatma
Gandhi’s country, where
democracy and the rule
of the ballot have been
“kept alive by the Con-
gress”. He said Modi has
been elected in a democ-
racy where Congress
had maintained the rule
of the ballot.
It is said Modi has be-
come a big world leader,
Gehlot told the gather-
ing. He then asked peo-
ple to find out what the
world thinks about the
violence in Manipur.
He objected to Modi
mentioning the Con-
gress-ruled states of Ra-
jasthan and Chhattisgarh
while commenting on
the video that showed
two Manipur women be-
ing paraded naked by a
mob. Gehlot called the
comparison an “insult”.
Modi had condemned
crime against women,
mentioning BJP-run Ma-
nipur two other states
in same breath. Gehlot
said answer to violence
can’t be violence.
“Do Modi’s party and
RSS people understand
this? Tagore, whom they
believe in, had said that
humanity is greater than
nationality. If there is no
love, where will the na-
tion be,” the CM asked.
Citing PM Modi’s recent
programme in Sikar, the
CM Gehlot further said,
“Rajasthan is on top in
many fields. PM refused
to speak to a CM and
PMO panicked when I
hit the tweet at 7. When
I replied, they couldn’t
respond back. I am not
proud like Modi ji. I am
a man who listens to
criticism. It is being said
that Modi ji will be the
face in Rajasthan. Will
Modi come to Rajasthan
to get the road construct-
ed? Will Modi open
CHC PHC, will Modi
open Tehsil and SDM of-
fices? Modi is a Vishwa
Guru, I am the first serv-
ant of Rajasthan. I will
contest elections on the
basis of 5 years’ work.”

programme on Monday.
CM EXPRESSES GRIEF OVER BHILWARA INCIDENT
Meanwhile, the horrific Bhilwara incident was
also discussed in the meeting and Chief Minister
expressed grief over the Bhilwara incident. Now,
on Tuesday, two ministers of the government - Rajendra
Yadav and Ramlal Jat - will go to Bhilwara.

t's that special
time of the year
again when fe-
lines take centre
stage and rule our
Instagram feeds
with their cuteness and sassy at-
titudes. International Cat Day has
arrived, celebrating the captivat-
ing world of cats and their enig-
matic charm that has enchanted
humans for ages. From their mes-
merizing eyes to their soft, velvety
paws, these furry creatures have
woven their way into our hearts
for thousands of years. So, on this
purrfect day, let's pay tribute to the
true rulers of our
hearts and em-
brace the sassiness of our feline
overlords!
THE FELINE ORIGINS
Cats descended from fierceAfrican
Wildcats with claws and all! Their
significance in history can be
traced back to ancient Egypt,
where they were revered and wor-
shipped as feline gods, like Bastet,
the goddess of protection and
pleasure, with the head of a cat and
a slender female body. Cats were
like the Avengers, protecting hu-
mans from all things creepy and
crawly including rats and mice.
However, during the Middle
Ages in Europe, cats faced a chal-
lenging time. Accused of being
disease carriers during the Black
Death, they became victims of
mass slaughter. Yet, the resilient
nature of cats allowed them to
make a heroic comeback in the
1600s, and they played a crucial
role in controlling pests during
the colonization
of America.
Now, they have
triumphantly
conquered the
w o r l d ,
with an
estimated population of half a bil-
lion, ruling over our homes and
hearts.
MILK? NO CAN DO!
First and foremost, let's talk about
that age-old myth: the love affair
between cats and milk, nurtured by
none other than our beloved Tom
and Jerry. While the idea of a cat
delicately sipping milk from a sau-
cer is utterly endearing, the truth is
that most adult cats are lactose in-
tolerant. So, consuming milk can
lead to digestive issues, such as
upset stomachs and diarrhoea. So
what can you feed them?
NUTRITION: THE SECRET TO A
HEALTHY CAT
Cats are obligate carnivores,
meaning they thrive on a diet rich
in animal-based proteins. Taurine,
a precious amino acid vital for
their eyesight, heart health, and
overall well-being, is readily
available in animal tis-
sues. However, cats
can't synthesize it
within their bodies,
making it crucial to
include it in their diet.
Grain-free commer-
cial cat foods thought-
fully ensure that our
feline companions re-
ceive this essential nu-
trient in abundance. As
more pet parents embrace
holistic pet care, natural di-
ets for cats are gaining popu-
larity, consisting of human-
grade ingredients like boiled
chicken, lamb, and raw fish.
Always consult with a veterinar-
ian to meet your cat's dietary needs
while exploring natural food op-
tions.
GROOMING AND HYGIENE
Cats are meticulous groomers, tak-
ing care of their hygiene needs in-
dependently. Baths should be re-
served for specific circumstances,
as not all cats are fans of water. For
day-to-day grooming, cats spend
countless hours maintaining their
fur to purrfection, distributing natu-
ral oils and regulating their body
temperature. Grooming also acts as
a stress reliever, helping our feline
friends stay calm and composed
amidst the hustle and bustle of hu-
man-centric domains.
PRIVATE PERSONS WHO
DON’T NEED TRAINING!
If you’ve had cats, you’d know
that these mysterious creatures
cherish their personal space, often
seeking solace in hidden nooks
and cosy corners. It's no wonder
they're masters of the art of discre-
tion when it comes to their bath-
room habits. Unlike dogs that may
require elaborate house training,
cats take naturally to litter boxes.
Just show them where you place
the litter tray and they’ll take care
of the rest! It’s one less thing for
us to worry about!
KNEADING AND PURRING
One of the most enchanting behav-
iours of cats is kneading or
making biscuits. This rhythmic
paw-pressing dates back to kitten-
hood when they kneaded their
mother's belly to stimulate milk
flow. As adults, cats con-
tinue this behav-
iour when
content and
secure, find-
ing comfort
and security in the
familiar motion. And let's not for-
get the mesmerizing purr! A cat's
purr is a truly magical sound that
soothes our souls and has thera-
peutic effects, reducing stress and
promoting healing.
PROTECTING OUR FELINE
COMPANIONS
Veterinarians have crafted a cat
vaccine schedule. Kittens receive
their initial vaccinations between
6-8 weeks, guarding against foes
like feline distemper and the
menacing cat flu.
Booster doses bol-
ster their immu-
nity, standing
tall against
the ever-
evolving
forces of
disease.
So it’s
settled then,
cats are
more than just pets; they are cher-
ished members of our royal fami-
lies and so we must bestow upon
them the gift of protection, love,
and the promise of a future filled
with mischief, play, and cuddles by
the hearth. Happy International Cat
Day to all cat enthusiasts – may
your day be filled with feline love
and enchantment!And for those of
you who don’t have a cat, go adopt
one from a shelter near you. An
adopted kitty is far more playful
than a bought one.

Why do some people in- herit while others do not? Wealth as health: Just having money is not suf- ficient. Some people may have a lot of money but they cannot eat well. They may have diabetes or high cholesterol. That wealth is nothing. Some people do not have money, but they have enough to eat and they are healthy. Like many farmers in India: they don’t have any money but they have plenty of food with them. Anyone who goes to them is fed; they can feed the whole town. They can sleep well. Wealth as success (Vi- jaya Lakshmi): Some may be born into a very wealthy family, but they face failure in whatever they do. They are never successful in whatever they undertake. Wealth as courage: One must see life as an adven- turous game and should play the game without worrying about the out- come, whether you win or loose. But if one is afraid of making mistakes or do- ing anything, one lacks the wealth of courage. If one lacks the wealth of cour- age, there is no fun in life even if the person has a lot of money. Someone may not have any money, but if they possess courage, they reflect wealth. Wealth as friendliness: The fifth type of wealth is friendliness, havingacaring attitude, having a sense of belonging. One may have the other types of wealth, but will still feel as though in a tight compartment, without a sense of belong- ing. That is what happens at most parties. Many rich people go to a party just to show off how rich they are, but they feel so out of place. You find sugar-coated mis- ery there. Everybody is so stiff. It’s like a war field ac- tually. Parties are like a competition ground or bat- tlefield; everyone is carry- ing a shield. That is no wealth at all. Wealth as skill: Another wealth is having different skills and talents. Some people write well, some are good in arguing, some are good in debating, some have a knack for music, some have a wonderful voice, some cook well, some are talented in bring- ing up a child, in adminis- tration, and still others are talented in completely dif- ferent things. They put their maximum efforts to achieve what they want yet they fail to achieve their goal. Effort is not enough to achieve one’s goal. Wealth as dignity: The world is full of lessons if only we observe it with full awareness. Be as humble as the grass. Then nothing can touch you, nothing. No one can humiliate you. In the eyes of the Divine, it is those who serve creation, are true kings and queens. Walk like a king and be a perfect servant! Wealth as memory of the source: We only know that we were born; we don’t even know how we were born. Somewhere from three or four years of our age onwards, we start un- derstanding things around us. Our memory is very short; it appears this is our only life. We are not aware of our source. The moment we become aware of your source, and our infinite past, our whole life chang- es. It’s just like someone suddenly realises how wealthy he or she is. Imme- diately your style of walk- ing changes. This is the awareness of the source. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL One of the greatest illusions created in the world is wealth. There is so much disparity in the world. There is no logical reasoning or explanation as to why someone is born in Africa and suffers for a piece of bread, while there is surplus bread elsewhere and is often wasted.; why some dogs enjoy the comfort of a home while others are strays in the streets? • 9. From P1… On Sunday night, First India had shown the exact prevailing condition as two renowned night clubs of the city were function- ing unabatedly till 2 AM. Furthermore, there are allegations of supply of hookah and drugs in these clubs and there are also allegations of misbehav- ior with young men and women by bouncers. After the live of First India, merely two police officers went to the actual spot, for the sake of police presence and the two of- ficers arrived without any police force and as a re- sult more than 200 people ran away in front of these officers. But not a single arrest could be made due to lack of police force. Even as the response from Jaipur Police was rather ‘lukewarm’ on the matter, CM Gehlot took it upon himself to respond to the situation and while praising First India for its reality check, called a meeting at 10 PM at CMR. In First India’s re- ality check of night clubs at 1 am on Sunday night, the game of Night Clubs was going on in the pres- ence of police officers whereas according to rules, music has to stop at around 10 PM. On Monday evening Gehlot took cognizance of the news report. This development caused a major stir in all Night Clubs of Jaipur and it was observed that Night Clubs of Jaipur didn’t open after 12 midnight from Mon- day itself. Notably, this step of Gehlot is being praised in all sections of the society since if the or- ders were flouted, hun- dreds of people would have roamed in big night clubs of Jaipur under the influence of alcohol and hookah! He said the dream of every resident is to make Rajasthan one of the leading states by 2030 and added that govt is moving forward with Gandhi’s thoughts. “Why am I talking about 2030? I have worked in the fields of education, health, electricity, water and roads, so it is comes to mind why shouldn’t I move forward?” he said. Gehlot said that the way former PM Dr Man- mohan Singh gave the country the right to get food security, education, information and employ- ment by enacting a law. “Similarly, we have also given RTH, Rajasthan minimum income guar- antee, minimum Rs 1000 social security pension to every eligible person of Rajasthan. The CM said Modi gets respect abroad only be- cause people there know that he is from Mahatma Gandhi’s country, where democracy and the rule of the ballot have been “kept alive by the Con- gress”. He said Modi has been elected in a democ- racy where Congress had maintained the rule of the ballot. It is said Modi has be- come a big world leader, Gehlot told the gather- ing. He then asked peo- ple to find out what the world thinks about the violence in Manipur. He objected to Modi mentioning the Con- gress-ruled states of Ra- jasthan and Chhattisgarh while commenting on the video that showed two Manipur women be- ing paraded naked by a mob. Gehlot called the comparison an “insult”. Modi had condemned crime against women, mentioning BJP-run Ma- nipur two other states in same breath. If there is no love, where will the na- tion be,” the CM asked. Citing PM Modi’s recent programme in Sikar, the CM Gehlot further said, “Rajasthan is on top in many fields. International Cat Day has arrived, celebrating the captivat- ing world of cats and their enig- matic charm that has enchanted humans for ages. From their mes- merizing eyes to their soft, velvety paws, these furry creatures have woven their way into our hearts for thousands of years. So, on this purrfect day, let's pay tribute to the true rulers of our hearts and em- brace the sassiness of our feline overlords! THE FELINE ORIGINS Cats descended from fierceAfrican Wildcats with claws and all! Their significance in history can be traced back to ancient Egypt, where they were revered and wor- shipped as feline gods, like Bastet, the goddess of protection and pleasure, with the head of a cat and a slender female body. Cats were like the Avengers, protecting hu- mans from all things creepy and crawly including rats and mice. However, during the Middle Ages in Europe, cats faced a chal- lenging time. Accused of being disease carriers during the Black Death, they became victims of mass slaughter. Yet, the resilient nature of cats allowed them to make a heroic comeback in the 1600s, and they played a crucial role in controlling pests during the colonization of America. Now, they have triumphantly conquered the w o r l d , with an estimated population of half a bil- lion, ruling over our homes and hearts. MILK? NO CAN DO! First and foremost, let's talk about that age-old myth: the love affair between cats and milk, nurtured by none other than our beloved Tom and Jerry. While the idea of a cat delicately sipping milk from a sau- cer is utterly endearing, the truth is that most adult cats are lactose in- tolerant. So, consuming milk can lead to digestive issues, such as upset stomachs and diarrhoea. So what can you feed them? NUTRITION: THE SECRET TO A HEALTHY CAT Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they thrive on a diet rich in animal-based proteins. Taurine, a precious amino acid vital for their eyesight, heart health, and overall well-being, is readily available in animal tis- sues. However, cats can't synthesize it within their bodies, making it crucial to include it in their diet. Grain-free commer- cial cat foods thought- fully ensure that our feline companions re- ceive this essential nu- trient in abundance. As more pet parents embrace holistic pet care, natural di- ets for cats are gaining popu- larity, consisting of human- grade ingredients like boiled chicken, lamb, and raw fish. Always consult with a veterinar- ian to meet your cat's dietary needs while exploring natural food op- tions. GROOMING AND HYGIENE Cats are meticulous groomers, tak- ing care of their hygiene needs in- dependently. Baths should be re- served for specific circumstances, as not all cats are fans of water. For day-to-day grooming, cats spend countless hours maintaining their fur to purrfection, distributing natu- ral oils and regulating their body temperature. Grooming also acts as a stress reliever, helping our feline friends stay calm and composed amidst the hustle and bustle of hu- man-centric domains. PRIVATE PERSONS WHO DON’T NEED TRAINING! If you’ve had cats, you’d know that these mysterious creatures cherish their personal space, often seeking solace in hidden nooks and cosy corners. It's no wonder they're masters of the art of discre- tion when it comes to their bath- room habits. Unlike dogs that may require elaborate house training, cats take naturally to litter boxes. Just show them where you place the litter tray and they’ll take care of the rest! It’s one less thing for us to worry about! KNEADING AND PURRING One of the most enchanting behav- iours of cats is kneading or making biscuits. This rhythmic paw-pressing dates back to kitten- hood when they kneaded their mother's belly to stimulate milk flow. As adults, cats con- tinue this behav- iour when content and secure, find- ing comfort and security in the familiar motion. And let's not for- get the mesmerizing purr! A cat's purr is a truly magical sound that soothes our souls and has thera- peutic effects, reducing stress and promoting healing. PROTECTING OUR FELINE COMPANIONS Veterinarians have crafted a cat vaccine schedule. Kittens receive their initial vaccinations between 6-8 weeks, guarding against foes like feline distemper and the menacing cat flu. Booster doses bol- ster their immu- nity, standing tall against the ever- evolving forces of disease. So it’s settled then, cats are more than just pets; they are cher- ished members of our royal fami- lies and so we must bestow upon them the gift of protection, love, and the promise of a future filled with mischief, play, and cuddles by the hearth. Happy International Cat Day to all cat enthusiasts – may your day be filled with feline love and enchantment! And for those of you who don’t have a cat, go adopt one from a shelter near you. An adopted kitty is far more playful than a bought one. Mariam Abuhaideri A Cat Mom thepersianladki@gmail.com I International CATurday!
