ASSEMBLY SESSION STARTING MAY 23
First India Bureau
Lucknow: Patience
and decency are the vir-
tues that help one pro-
gress in public life, said
Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister Yogi Adity-
anath cautioning mem-
bers of the state Assem-
bly against personal
interests and interfer-
ence in official work.
In his address to the
state Assembly, the CM
said he is of the view
that the more practical
a public representative
is, the easier it is for
him to communicate
with the public and live
up to their expectations.
“I have seen that neg-
ativity can never take a
public representative
forward,” he said.
“In public life, a per-
son’s patience and de-
cency always takes him
forward while haste, af-
fection for (govern-
ment) contracts and in-
terference in every sin-
gle matter leads to his
downfall,” he said.
The chief minister
also claimed that
casteism does not exist
in the state. “If politics
of casteism is true them
how Suresh Khanna is
a nine-time MLA from
Shahjahanpur and Sat-
ish Mahana elected
from Kanpur for the
eighth time,” he asked.
The chief minister
said public representa-
tives should serve inter-
ests of the state and the
country. “If we live up
to the expectation of
the public in a positive
manner, then people
will also continue to
support us,” he said.

the UP Assembly’s bud-

MLAs to keep them-
selves away from ‘con-
tract leases’ and ‘trans-

“Those who tend to
show loyalty towards
‘contract leases’ and
‘transfer postings’ in-
stead of the people, are
thrown out of the sys-
tem. Hence, the public
representatives should
focus on making efforts
to implement the
schemes of the central
and state government,”
said the CM while con-

ment of the MLAs in

. “The 25 crore peo-
ple of the state have
chosen all 403 of you to
be their leaders with
great confidence. So,
you have to be account-
able to the public,” said
CM Yogi, adding, “Set

.Hence,we
have to move forward
with a positive attitude,
which will lead to peo-
ple expressing confi-
dence in you.
Highlighting that he
has been in politics
since 1998, CM Yogi
said, “I have been both
MLA and MP and real-
ised that the more inti-
mately a public repre-
sentative connects with
the people, the more he
will be able to work
with confidence. When
I was an MP
, I saw thou-
sands of children were
dying every year due to
the outbreak of En-
cephalitis in Gorakh-
pur and surrounding
areas. Hence, when I
became the CM after 20
years, I started working
on it by establishing in-
ter-departmental coor-
dination.”
As a result, there has
been a 95 percent de-
cline in the number of

tis in the state. This
model came in handy
during the COVID-19
period too, which was
appreciated as a model
in the country and the
world.
Happy for election of 47
women to the assembly:
Governor Anandiben
was welcomed by the chief minister and oth-
er members of the assembly. In her address,
the Governor welcomed the 128 MLAs who
have been elected for the first time to the as-
sembly.
Patel said she is happy that 47 women have
been elected to the assembly and their number
is increasing.
She asked the members not to promise any-
thing to the public which they can’t deliver.
“The image of a public representative is tar-
nished when your children and relatives move
with you and start performing your duties. To
keep the right image, one must follow the law,”
Patel said.
Earlier on 20 May, Lok Sabha Speaker Om
Birla inaugurated e-vidhan’ system of the
functioning of the House which is to switch
over steadily to the paperless mode of working,
using digital communication means and
streaming of the House proceedings on You-

session on June 6
Set example for
UP people: CM
“On June 6, there
will be a joint ses-
sion of the Legisla-
tive Assembly, which
will be attended by
the President. We
all have to listen to
him graciously,” said
CM, adding, “There
should be discus-
sions in the house, no
matter how long they
take. This practice
identifies you as a
good public repre-
sentative. This is how
your tenure will be
recognised.”Claiming
that everyone coming
to the Assembly is a
public representative,
CM said, “Our efforts
should be to raise is-
sues of public interest
in fewer words.”
CM Yogi also
appealed to the
public reps to set
an example for
the people of Uttar
Pradesh through
mutual coordina-
tion and discussion.
“Our government has
already started work-
ing on improving the
mutual coordination
and discussions. As a
result, Alvida Namaz
did not happen on
the streets and there
was no discrimina-
tion in taking off the
loudspeakers from
the religious places,”
said Yogi adding that

have been taken
down have been

UPgovttoaugmentdairy
sector, dairy units to be
developedonPPPmodel
First India Bureau
Lucknow: Aiming to
boost the dairy sector
in the state, a potential
source of employment
and revenue genera-
tion, the UP govern-
ment is planning to
open dairy units
through the public-pri-
vate partnership (PPP)
model.
Chairing a high-level
review meeting on Sat-
urday
, Yogi Adityanath
said that strengthening
the dairy sector of the
state is one of the top
priorities of our gov-
ernment today
. “Dairy
units can be opened on
the PPP model in the
state. Make a planned
effort to engage more
and more youth in the
dairy sector.” the CM
maintained.
The government
will extend all cooper-
ation to companies
keen to work in the
dairy sector here un-
der the public-pri-
vate-partnership mod-
el, he added.
The step of govern-
ment will also help
farmers get into the
dairy business along
with crop cultivation.
The opening of new
dairy units will also
generate revenue for
the government.
Stressing the need for
comprehensive re-
forms in the function-
ing of the Animal Hus-
bandry Department,
the CM said govern-
ment officers of the
department should be
sent to the districts as
nodal officers. They
must check the ar-
rangements in the cow
shelters, and get the
‘bhoosa’ banks or fod-
der banks built across
districts.
Strictest action
should be taken
against those involved
in heinous crimes like
cow smuggling, he add-
ed. As per the vision of
the government, the
dairy sector, animal
husbandry, white revo-
lution can play a mas-
sive role in changing
the condition of the
farmers for the better.
Animal husbandry

Gorakhnath temple hands over loudspeakers
in compliance of CM Adityanath’s orders
First India Bureau
Lucknow/Gorakh-
pur: The Gorakhnath
temple handed over two
loudspeakers to the dis-
trict administration on
Saturday
. This comes
following the instruc-
tion of Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath to re-
move loudspeakers in
religious places and
hand them over to
schools.
These loudspeakers
are to be handed over to
schools by the district
administration, the UP
Chief Minister’s office
informed. The temple is
situated in the home-
town of CM Yogi and is
a part of Gorakhnath
Math, whose head priest
is Adityanath. Around
54,000 unauthorised
loudspeakers were re-
moved from religious
places and the volume
of over 60,000 was set to
permissible limits
across the state.
A statewide drive has
been undertaken to re-
move illegal loudspeak-
ersfromreligiousplaces
and set the volume of
others within permissi-
ble limits. Additional
Director General of Po-
lice (Law and Order)
Prashant Kumar had
said that a total of 53,942
loudspeakers were re-
moved and a volume of
60,295 loudspeakers was
set within permissible
limits as of May 1.
In the backdrop of
communal clashes in
the state, CM in April
said that everyone has
the freedom to follow his
or her religious ideolo-
gy and allowed the use
of loudspeakers at reli-
gious sites, but the
sound should remain
confined to the premises
so that it doesn’t cause
inconveniencetoothers.
Following the orders,
the Gorakhnath Temple
trust in Gorakhpur low-
ered the volume of the
loudspeakers installed
on the premises. Also,
the loudspeakers were
repositioned to keep
them away from roads
and public premises

Bijnor: Bhartiya Kisan Union president Naresh Tikait
on Saturday alleged that the split in the outfit was

that the parting of some leaders won’t impact them.
Fissures within the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU)
had come out in the open on the
death anniversary of its founder
president Mahendra Singh
Tikait on May 15, with a senior
national office-bearer announc-
ing the formation of a separate
outfit. BKU vice-president Rajesh
Chauhan said he took the decision
after being “insulted” and alleged
that the outfit sided with political
parties in the elections, an apparent reference to
UP Assembly polls. The new outfit was named the
Bhartiya Kisan Union (Arajnaitik). “Arajnaitik” means
apolitical in Hindi. Reacting to it, Tikait told reporters
on Saturday that the new organisation was formed
at the behest of the BJP government.

portunities to at least
one person in every
family in the next five
years, the UP govt is
mulling to make the
‘family card’ of each
family in the state.
The thought-process
in this regard is on by
experts, according to
an official spokesman.
The scheme envisions
employment for a mem-
ber of every family
which does not have a
job in the state and im-
prove their living con-
ditions. It also set im-
portant social goals,
such as empowering
women and widening
opportunities for mar-
ginalized population
groups. The state govt
is thinking to take a
slew of measures, of
which one includes the
developing of family
cards.
The family card will
be aimed at keeping
the economic,social
and employment sta-
tus of the family. It will
help the government to
identify and work to-
wards providing em-
ployment or self-em-
ployment to members
of those families
whose economic status
is low. Since the pro-
cess will take some
time, the govt has de-
cided to consider the
ration card of each
family for the purpose.
Based on the assess-
ment, the govt will con-
nect one member of
each such family em-
ployment generation
scheme of the govt. It
may be recorded that
UP has recorded the
lowest unemployment
rate of 2.9 percent as
per the latest survey
released by the CMIE.
The govt is striving
hard to bring it down
to zero by providing
employment to one
member of every fam-
ily in the state.
The visionary poli-
cies and employment-
oriented schemes initi-
ated by CM Yogi have
played a huge role in
promoting the setting
up of new businesses
and simultaneously
generating new job
opportunities for the
youth.

and found it true.
No flag was has been
seen flying outside the

is known to be a treat
for the eyes for people
coming from all parts
of the nation. “ I used
to salute the national

When contacted
about the missing na-

times there are works
needed. The flag may
need some sort of

When asked about al-

of having another flag
he said,” It is not easy
for people to do so. It is
a time taking and la-
bourious task, and
therefore takes time”.
Badaun (PTI): A
21-year-old man was
allegedly killed by his
former girlfriend and
her family members
here, officials said on
Saturday. Police said
they arrested the
woman Santosh Ku-
mari and her uncle
Rajaram, and that the
duo has confessed to
the killing.
Based on their state-
ments, victim
Dinesh’s mutilated
body was recovered
from a well in Angola
village under Bilsi po-
lice station area, the
woman’s native place,
they said. According
to the complaint filed
by one Ravindra Pal
Singh, a resident of
Kot village here, his
son Dinesh was in a
relationship with Ku-
mari and he wanted to
marry her. However,
her parents fixed her
marriage elsewhere.
Dinesh, however,
pressured Kumari to
elope with him and
this irked her, police
said. Kumari and Ra-
jaram hatched a plan
to kill Dinesh and
they summoned him
to their village on
May 10. The duo stran-
gled Dinesh and
dumped his body in a
well. On May 12, Ku-
mari got married as
decided by her par-
ents, the police said.
As Dinesh was miss-
ing for several days,
his family members
filed a police com-
plaint on May 13.
They alleged that they
had raised suspicion
against Kumari and
her family members
since the day their son
went missing, but the
police ignored their
plea.

Lucknow: The stories
of brave police person-
nel taking a stand even
when faced by grim
situation during the
Bikru incident on July
2, 2020 have been ascer-
tained again by the
statement of SSP to
the commission.
It was reported that
the police personnel
who had gone to nab
Vikas Dubey put up a
brave front even when
outnumbered, out-
gunned and seriously
injured. The cops were
caught unawares and
each tried to save their
injured comrades from
line of fire.
All these brave deeds
of the police personnel
though have not been
honoured even after 2
years of the incident.
CM Yogi has in the past
praised the martyred
policemen and injured
policemen but no med-
al has been presented
to them. On the tragic
night of July, a group
of policemen had gone
to Bikru to arrest Vi-
kas Dubey, when
Dubey and his accom-
plices trapped the po-
lice personnel and
opened fire at them.
In the incident,
eight police personnel
were killed while four
constables, Kaushelen-
dra Singh who was SO
Bithoor and a home
guard were injured.
After the death of
Vikas Dubey, the govt
constituted a commis-
sion under Justice
Chauhan to uncover
what transpired in Bik-
ru village due to which
no medal or distinction
were given to the cops.
In the investigation,
all were given a clean
chit but it was only the
home guard who re-
ceived the medal
whereas other cops
involved in the inci-
dent are yet to receive
medal.

OVER 3-CR PEOPLE CONNECTED
TO EMPLOYMENT IN LAST 5 YRS
Under ‘Mission Rozgar’, employment opportuni-
ties are being provided to the people of the state
through various departments, institutions, and corpo-
rations. In the last five years, under various schemes
of self-employment of the Yogi govt, work has
been done to connect about three crore people with
employment. Due to the ever-increasing industry and
trade in UP, the state has reached the lowest level in
terms of unemployment. Even after COVID, the state
govt has left no stone unturned in providing jobs.

BACK AKHILESH
IN SAME COIN
DURING RS POLL
ohammed Azam
Khan’s reference to
the “contribution”
of his own people in
his “destruction”
has left a lot unsaid but one can
safely presume that he felt be-
trayed by his party and its pres-
ident Akhilesh Yadav. It is no
secret that during Azam Khan’s
long period of trial and tribula-
tion nobody from the party stood
by him. Shivpal Yadav also ex-
tended his support after he him-
self was pushed to the sidelines
by Akhilesh Yadav. It will be no
surprise if Azam Khan chooses
to part ways with the party even
if he has nowhere to go.
Azam’s moves will be keenly
watched during the Rajya Sabha
elections. The Samajwadi Party
has 111 legislators, 32 of whom
are Muslims. They have to be
kept in good humour if Akhile-
sh Yadav has to win the three
Rajya Sabha seats the numbers
entitle him to. If he doesn’t, then
it will be a sad commentary on
his leadership which is already
facing a lot of questions.

because you are
part of the top 10
percent of the wage bracket.
This group is below the top
one percent, or the rich, who
account for 5-7 percent of the
national income. Below the
middle income group are
those earning less than Rs
5,000 a month. They consti-
tute 15 percent of the popula-
tion. Given the subsidised
ration being distributed
among the poor and high in-
flation the middle income
group is the worst hit as it
gets no financial/material
support from the govern-
ment. The overall income
disparity between the top
one percent and the 15 per-
cent lower income group is
also far too stark. This ine-
quality gets more pro-
nounced when one looks at
the trend which shows the
rich getting richer and the
poor poorer.
These findings have been
revealed in the State of Ine-
quality in India Report of the
Prime Minister’s Economic
Advisory Council released by
Bibek Debroy, Chairperson
of the Council.
Notably, Debroy said at the
launch that there’s a lack of
comprehensive data to bring
down inequality the report
has recommended a guaran-
teedemploymentprogramme
for the urban unemployed on
the lines of Mahatma Gandhi
National Rural Employment
Guarantee Act (MNREGA)
and a Universal Basic In-
come scheme.
On the face of it a MNRE-
GA like scheme for urban
areas looks impractical in
view of the differences in the
nature of rural and urban
activities.
For a complete picture of
the economy

must come out with the data

to newspaper reports said
that India did not learn ‘dem-
ocratic values’ from the Brit-

these values? Who intro-
duced the democratic elec-

ma was a democracy till 1962.
In that year General Ne Win

India was ruled by Mus-

The Muslims ruled over us
with the help of us Hindus.
No democracy during the
Mughal rule, leave alone the

historical evidence exist that
Ghazani was ever effectively
challenged. Who said govern-

Yes, Panchayats did exist in

Can the erudite, Vice-Chan-

Draupadi and Sita being real
historical persons. Read Gan-

that they were mythological
figures. Incidentally the Cho-

Santishree Pandit is quot-

thus, “Many people believe
that feminist or women’s

I have read a fair amount of
the writings of Marx. He

The greatest Marxist histo-
rian of the 20th century Eric

as I can recall, Karl Marx
was not a feminist. Gandhiji
was. He had Sarojni Naidu

I sincerely hope that the

LOSS OF CONGRESS
IS GAIN OF BJP
Sunil Jakhar naturally was
upset and spoke up criti-
cally of the so-called high
command. A show cause
notice was sent to him. This
was the breaking point. He
resigned from the Congress
party and joined BJP. The
loss of the Congress was
the gain of the BJP.

Hardik Patel, the very
young and active patidar
leader too has resigned
and lambasted the unsa-
voury activities going on at
the Udaipur Shivir. He was
particularly hard on Rahul
Gandhi. Not a happy situa-
tion for the Congress.
WITTY NAVJOT SIDHU IS IN PATIALA JAIL
Navjot Singh Sidhu was, in his youth a World class cricketer.
Had he been a less unpredictable and centrifugal individual, he
would have captained our Test Team. Unfortunately his cricket ca-
reer ended rather abruptly. His TV programme was hugely popular.
He is a naturally witty person. His TV audiences ran into millions.
He had to give up his TV occupation after joining politics. 1988 has
finally caught up with him. In that year he had a fracas with a car
driver at a car parking lot. Sidhu, in a fit of temper hit the man who
died on the spot. On Friday 20, Navjot Singh Sidhu was sentenced
to one year’s rigorous imprisonment. He is now in Patiala jail.

Climate change has arrived.
Never has the summer
temperature in Delhi been

monsoon in Delhi will break

AFTER-EFFECTS OF CHINTAN SHIVIR
The post Chintan Shivar scenario must worry serious minded congressmen and Congress
Women. Sunil Jakhar has been an active member of the Party for decades. He could have been
president of the Punjab Congress Committee, if a nasty female had not pronounced that a Hindu
could not become PCC President. This was incredible.
Nowhere has it been written in the Congress Constitu-
tion that a Hindu cannot become PCC President of Pun-
jab because he is a Hindu. Sonia Gandhi should have
overruled the woman. She did not. Jakhar naturally
was upset and spoke up critically of the so called high
command. A show cause notice was sent to him. This
was the breaking point. He resigned from the Congress
party and joined BJP. The loss of the Congress was the
gain of the BJP. Sunil’s father was Speaker of the Lok
Sabha twice an Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Hardik Patel, the very young and active patidar
leader too has resigned and lambasted the unsavoury activities going on at the Udaipur Shivir. He
was particularly hard on Rahul Gandhi. Not a happy situation for the Congress.

‘CONGNOT‘BIGDADDY’,RESPECTSREGIONALPARTIES’
Speaking at an event in London, Gandhi described the ‘fight’ against BJP as a ‘group effort’
New Delhi (PTI):
Backtracking from his
stand in Udaipur, Con-
gress leader Rahul Gan-
dhi said his party re-
spects regional outfits
and does not want to be
“the Big Daddy” while
asserting that the fight
against the BJP will be
a “group effort”.
During an interactive
session at the ‘Ideas for
India’ conference in
London, he made a
scathing attack on the
BJP government alleg-
ing the “deep state” in
India is attacking insti-
tutions and capturing
them such as the media.
Alleging that people’s
voices are being stifled,
Gandhi said the Con-
gress will reach out to
the masses and fight to
save ‘the idea of India’.
The former Congress
chief asserted his party
will coordinate with re-
gional outfits to launch
a nationwidemovement
against the ruling dis-
pensation and will
reach out to the people
in a big way
.
“We have to coordi-
nate with our friends in
the opposition. I don’t
view the Congress as
the ‘Big Daddy’. It is a
group effort with the
opposition. But it is a
fight to regain India,”
he said at the conclave.
A video of the event
was released by the
Congress on Saturday
.
“The point I made in
Udaipur, which was
misconstrued, is that
this is an ideological
battle now. It is a nation-
al ideological battle,
which means that of
course we respect the
DMK as a Tamil politi-
cal organisation, but
the Congress has the
ideology at the national
level,” Gandhi said.
“In no way is the Con-
gress superior to other
opposition parties, we
are all fighting the same
battle. They have their
space, we have ours, but
an ideological battle is
taking place is between
the national vision of
RSS that of the Con-
gress,” Gandhi added.

DECLARES FINANCIAL AID OF `5L TO KIN
Sharat K Verma
New Delhi: Elections
have been announced
for 57 Rajya Sabha seats.
Elections are to be held
on these seats on June
10 next month and it is
being claimed that BJP
seats will increase in
the Upper House. It is
also being said that af-
ter the Lok Sabha, the
BJP is now moving to-
wards a majority in the
Rajya Sabha as well.
However, there is no in-
crease in BJP’s seats
under normal circum-
stances. Its number of
seats will remain the
same as before or there
will be a decrease of one
seat in it. Yes, if the BJP
nominates such people
on all the seven vacant
seats of the nominated
category, who declare
themselves as members
of the BJP as soon as
they take oath, then the
BJP will have the advan-
tage of three seats. Four
of the seven retired MPs
were members of the
BJP and Mary Kom,
Chhatrapati Sambhaji
and Narendra Jadhav
kept themselves inde-
pendent.
Among the states
where Rajya Sabha elec-
tions are to be held, the
BJP will have the advan-
tage of only three seats
in Uttar Pradesh, but it
will have to bear the loss
of seats in Rajasthan,
AndhraPradesh,Chhat-
tisgarh, Maharashtra,
Jharkhand and Telan-
gana. In Uttar Pradesh,
11 seats are falling va-
cant, out of which five
seats belong to the BJP
and it will get three ad-
ditional seats this time.
In this way, the party
will have the advantage
of three seats in Uttar
Pradesh. Apart from
this, BJP will have the
advantage of one seat in
Uttarakhand, where
Pradeep Tamta of Con-
gress is retiring. Apart
from these four seats,
the BJP has no advan-
tage in any state.
The BJP will suffer
the maximum loss of
three seats each in Ra-
jasthan and Andhra
Pradesh. All the four
seats falling vacant in
Rajasthan belong to the
BJP. According to the
position of the parties
in the assembly, this
time the Congress can
win three seats. The
Congress-led govern-
ment has 125 MLAs and
needs 41 votes to win a
seat. Meanwhile, four
seats are falling vacant
in Andhra Pradesh, out
of which three seats are
of BJP
. This time all the
four seats will go to the
account of YSR Con-
gress. Three out of six
seats falling vacant in
Maharashtra belong to
the BJP, but this time it
will be able to win only
two seats and will lose
one seat.
Of the two seats fall-
ing vacant in Chhattis-
garh, one seat belongs
to the BJP but it will not
be able to win a single
seat this time rather
will lose one seat. Two
seats are falling vacant
in Jharkhand, out of
which BJP will be able
to win only one seat this
time. So, there will also
be a loss of one seat.
Apart from these, in the
states where elections
are held, the number of
BJP seats in Bihar, Ma-
harashtra, Karnataka,
Madhya Pradesh and
Haryana will remain
constant. That is, the
more people who retire,
the more people will
come back again. In this
way
, BJP is gaining four
seats in two states and
losing nine seats in five
states. Even if we add
the advantage of three
seats in the nominated
category, the gain is
seven and the loss is
nine. So, BJP’s seats are
going to remain fixed at
one hundred only
.

LEOPARD DIES

VILLAGE
Atwo-year-old leopard, that
strayed into a village here,
died while being shifted to a
forest, an official said on
Saturday. Prima facie it appears
that it died due to scorching heat
and hunger, he said, adding that
the autopsy report will ascertain
the exact cause of its death.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO)
Manish Singh told reporters that
villagers in Nabinagar happened
to see the leopard lay
unconscious and they informed
the forest department. A team
administered treatment to the
leopard and it was being taken to
the Nanpara forest range, but it
died on the way, Singh said.
“There are no signs of injury on
its body. It seems that the
leopard was hungry and thirsty
for a long time,” he added.
According to the DFO, a panel of
three veterinarians will conduct
the autopsy, post which, he said
his team will proceed with the

AKHILESH ACCUSES BJP GOVT
OF FAILING TO CONTROL CRIME
Lucknow (PTI): Sama-
jwadi Party president
Akhilesh Yadav on Fri-
day accused the ruling
BJP of failing to con-
trol crime in Uttar
Pradesh. Yadav claimed
that crimes against
children have attained
new records under the
BJP rule.
In a statement issued
from the SP headquar-
ters, Yadav claimed that
from January 1 to April
30, 82 children, includ-
ing 35 boys and 47 girls,
have gone missing from
four districts of the
state. The former chief
minister said 28 chil-
dren are missing in
Kushinagar, 23 in Deo-
ria, 16 in Gorakhpur,
and 15 in Maharajganj.
“Anarchy and disorder
are being encouraged in
the state. The BJP lead-
ers are arrogant and the
local administration is
under pressure from
the ruling party to save
the culprits,” Yadav
said. A Dalit girl was
raped and murdered by
a BJP worker in Sau-
rikh, Kannauj. Her
body had several injury
marks due to the physi-
cal assault, he claimed.
He also said that BJP
supporters recently cre-

plaza in Jhansi.
Yadav said it is im-

ple, especially women,
of Uttar Pradesh from
the criminals, BJP lead-

who claims to have ze-

SC clarifies on Places of Worship Act
First India Bureau
Varanasi: In what
could be a crucial obser-
vation with regard to
cases on the nature and
character of religious
structures in the coun-
try, the Supreme Court
on Friday orally re-
marked that the Places
of Worship Act,
1991 does not bar the as-
certainment of the reli-
gious character of a
place of worship.
The remark was
made by Justice DY
Chandrachud during
the hearing of the
G y a n v a p i - K a s h i
Vishwanath case. “As-
certainment of reli-
gious character is not
barred under Section 3
of the 1991 Act.
 Suppose there is a
Parsi temple and there
is a cross in the corner
of the area. Does the
presence of Agyari
make the cross Agyari
or Agyari Christian?
This hybrid character
is not unknown,” he re-
marked. However, Sen-
ior Counsel Huzefa Ah-
madi, who was appear-
ing for the Muslim par-
ty, contested the same.
“The religious charac-
ter of the (Gyanvapi)
Mosque as on August
15, 1947 is not in dis-
pute,” he said. ”It is
strongly in dispute,” the
lawyer for Hindu par-
ties retorted. “You may
think so. If this is enter-
tained, then the 1991
Act may be only a dead
letter. This is the con-
troversy the Act wanted
to avoid,” Ahmadi coun-
tered. The Places of
Worship Act of 1991,
which was introduced
at the height of the Ram
Janmabhoomi move-
ment, seeks to protect
the status of all reli-
gious structures as they
stood on August 15,
1947.
Section 4 of the Act
states that the religious
character of a place of
worship existing on Au-
gust 15, 1947 shall con-
tinue to be the same as
it existed on that day
. It
bars courts from enter-
taining cases filed over
the character of such
places of worship. The
provision further states
that such cases already
pendingincourtswould
stand abated. If any suit
or proceeding is insti-
tuted on the ground
that conversion of reli-
gious character of a
place of worship has
taken place after Aug
15, 1947, then such case
has to be disposed of in
a manner that the char-
acter existing on Au-
gust 15, 1947 is restored.

Lucknow: Arecommis-
sioner-level officers still
going to be posted as dis-
trict collectors in the
state? Even after being
promoted to Secretary/
Commissioner rank, 4
IAS officers are still
posted as collectors.
The bureaucracy
corridor in the state is
full of talks about when
these special secretary
rank IAS officers get
their new postings, so
that new IAS officers
can be promoted as col-
lectors.At the begin-
ning of the year the
government promoted
11 IAS (6 RR and 5 SCS)
officers of 2006-batch to
the rank of secretary
and only IAS Zuher Bin
Sagir (RR) was not pro-
moted owing to the de-
partment inquiry
against him.
It has been 5 months
since these IAS officers
were promoted but yet
four are still posted as
collectors. These in-
clude Kaushal Raj Shar-
ma DM Varanasi, Selva
Kumari J, DM Aligarh,
Abhishek Prakash DM,
Lucknow and Shruti
Singh DM Etawah.
Kaushal Raj Shar-
ma, DM Varanasi holds
the record of holding
the post of DM for the
longest period among
the IAS officers of 2006
batch. Selva Kumari is
known to have a strong-
hold in the govern-
ment. Abhishek
Prakash, has been try-
ing to move to a com-
missioner- level post
for long but due to his
fame of being hard-
working and ethical,
the government wants
to replace him with a
similarly capable of-
ficer but is unable to
decide on a name.
There are internal
jokes though that the 4
DMs will get new post-
ings as per their rank
only after the civic
body elections.

Prayagraj: The Alla-
habad High Court has
denied bail to an ac-
cused of forced conver-
sion of a minor to Mus-
lim Religion and com-
pelling her for perfor-
mance of Nikah.
The single-judge
benchof JusticeDinesh
Kumar Singh observed
that the accused-appli-
cant not only betrayed
his wife and family, but
also breached the trust
of an innocent girl, who
believed in him and
got entangled in his
false love.
The accused-appli-
cant is a married man
who practice Muslim
faith. He introduced
himself trough social
media to the prosecu-
trix as ‘Raj’and entan-
gled in his false love
web. He enticed away
the tender aged girl.
The medical age of the
prosecutrix was deter-
mined to be 16-17 years
and as per the educa-
tional testimonials, her
age was determined to
be 16 years.
The accused-appli-
cant was charged for of-
fences punishable un-
der Sections 363, 366,
376 IPC, Section 3/5
POCSO Act.
The Court took into
consideration all the
facts including the foul
play of the accused-ap-
plicant in hiding his
marital status and
faith.
HC: No bail to Anwar who
forced minor to convert
OBSERVATION
Rejecting the bail application, the bench of Justice
Dinesh Kumar Singh observed, “Looking at the
nature of the offence, marital status of the appli-
cant and also the fact that he introduced himself
as ‘Raj’ to the prosecutrix though he is Anwar Ali,
and the prosecutrix being minor court does not
find any ground to enlarge the applicant on bail.”
COURTESY MEET!

were also present.
CHICKEN
SANDWICH, RAHUL
AND HARDIK
The politics of to-
day’s era has re-
duced the fine line be-
tween ‘Nayak’ and
‘Pratinayak’, even
though the tradition of
singing paeans of one
‘Nayak’ may be attrib-
uted to a particular
party
, but this tradition
has been broken in the
Congress. It is learned
from the sources that
when Rahul Gandhi
had gone to Gujarat
prior to the Udaipur
Chintan Shivir, party
working president
Hardik Patel had
reached out to meet him
at his luxurious hotel in
Ahmedabad. Patel is
said to have taken with
him a special Gujarati
vegetarian dish pre-
pared at his home for
Rahul. But even in
Hardik’s company, Ra-
hul found it more appro-
priate to order chicken
sandwiches from the
hotel’s restaurant in-
stead of Patel’s home
cooked Guja-
rati cuisine.
Hardik felt
bad about
this. After this, Hardik
handed over a list of
about one hundred and
fifty influential Gujara-
ti people whom he want-
ed to be introduced to
Rahul. But Rahul ex-
pressed his reluctance
to meet these people and
said that he is in a re-
laxed mood now and has
to return to Delhi the
next day, so this time it
will not be possible to
meet these people. Ra-
hul further told Hardik
that if he wanted to in-
troduce these people, he
can bring them to Delhi.
Hardik was displeased
with this, and after leav-
ing the hotel room, he
angrily told some of his
trusted friends, “If our
leader does not want to
come out of the gyms
and massage rooms,
then only God can save
the Congress.” Howev-
er, Rahul apparently
learned about this com-
ment by Hardik and was
stunned. Upon reaching
Delhi, he complained to
his mother about
Hardik and said- ‘This
man is very rude, we
will not call him to
Udaipur.’ Sonia tried to
pacify Rahul stressing
that party works on con-
stitution and can not be
run on whims and fan-
cies. But
when Rahul
remained
a d a m a n t
on his stand, a decision
was taken that no work-
ing presidents would be
called in the Udaipur’s
Chintan Shivir. But this
decision of the high
command was criti-
cized everywhere.
Therefore, in view of
the growing dissatisfac-
tion in the party, Sonia
Gandhi has now decid-
ed that ‘very soon the
party’s mini contempla-
tion camp will be organ-
ized, in which state gov-
ernmentministersfrom
Congress-ruled states
of RajasthanandChhat-
tisgarh, Maharashtra
and Jharkhand, party’s
national spokesperson
etc about 120 leaders in-
cluding working presi-
dents will be invited.
RAHUL GOES TO
LONDON
Soon after the end of
Udaipur Chintan
Shivir, Congress’s re-
splendent ‘star’ Rahul
Gandhi has reached
London. He has gone to
London at the invitation
of UK-based think-tank
‘Bridge India’, where he
is going to participate in
the ‘Ideas for India’ con-
ference, and along with
this Rahul has also de-
livered a speech at Cam-
bridge University
. But
surprisingly, earlier in
such international fo-
rums Rahul was called
as a single speaker, but
this time the list of
speakers speaking in
‘Ideas for India’ is much
longer. Congress’s Sal-
man Khurshid, Sam
Pitroda, CPI(M) General
Secretary Sitaram
Yechury
, RJD President
Tejashwi Yadav and Ra-
jya Sabha MP Manoj Ku-
mar Jha, TMC’s fire-
brand MP Mahua Moi-
tra and TRS’s KT Rama
Rao are also going to
speakinthisconference.
PRIYANKA ANGRY
WITH PRAMOD
KRISHNAM
During a meeting at
the Congress’
Chintan Shivir at
Udaipur, Congress lead-
er Pramod Krishnam
demanded, in a loud
voice, that Priyanka
Gandhi should be made
the new president of
the party. This demand
made Priyanka so un-
comfortable that she
immediately pointed
her eyes at her col-
league Deepender Hoo-
da. Deepender silenced
Acharya Pramod and
said, “we are no one to
decide the name of the
party president, leave
this decision to the par-
ty and the family.” Af-
ter this, it was Mall-
ikarjun Kharge direct-
ed his anger at Acharya
Pramod and scolded
Acharya in a slightly
loud voice saying, “You
keep quiet, it is not
your job to decide this
nor is it a forum to raise
such an issue.” After
the meeting was over,
Acharya Pramod took
Sachin Pilot along to
meet Priyanka. As soon
as the duo arrived at
Priyanka’s room, Pri-
yanka could not control
her anger and she
scolded Acharya say-
ing, “You need to im-
prove yourself. Do not
even try to create a
quarrel in the family.
You try to publicize out-
side that you are my
political advisor, today,
you tell me how many
of your messages do I
reply to?” While Acha-
rya Pramod Krishnam
stood there without a
word from his side, it
was Sachin Pilot who
handled the matter and
somehow quelled Pri-
yanka’s anger.

Kingshuk Bhaduri and de-
signer Ashfaq Ahmed to
name a few. The designers
presented a collection that
was a blend of simple silhou-
ettes, fine detailing, and a hint
of shimmer. Supermodel Kang-
na Malik walked the ramp and
won many hearts with her
ramp walk at a fashion week.
Designer Kingshuk Bha-
duri displayed a collection
that emphasised comfort
while staying stylish. A
combination of sharara
pants with angrakha
jackets, long flowy dress-
es, fitted trousers and
sheer shirts for men
were the highlight of
the collection. A lot of
georgettes and jersey
material were used
to keep the collec-

Talking about
the collection,
the designer said
that she wanted
to create a Hol-
lywood 40s look
with some
classic looks.
“It was a
summer col-
lection and
s u b t l e
shades were mostly used in
the line. It was a wonderful
show. I was very excited to be
here at DTFW.” Chandni Dev-
gan was the showstopper for
the designer and donned a
sequined lehenga in cream
with thread embroidery.
Designer duo Vipin Aggar-
wal and Rajdeep Roy put to-
gether a show with a mes-
sage on sustainability. Ele-
gant summer dresses with
asymmetrical hems, summer
blazers, shorts and fitted
shirts and pants for men
were part of the collection.
Print in green and a touch of
gold was the common feature
of the collection. There was
an added element of shim-
mer as designer Ashfaque
Ahmad ended the show with
his dazzling designs in gold.
From fitted floor-length
gowns to glow ones with the
trail, the collection was
about easy to wear evening
wear. Said the designer, “I
have a simple approach,
myth that you can wear
gowns, it was for summer
parties.” About his asso-
ciation with
DTFW, Ash-
faque said, “I
have been as-
sociated with
DTFW for
quite some time
now and each time I enjoy
this experience.”

The announcement assumes significance in the wake of the fact that as many as 21,227 people were killed in road accidents last year. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath re- cently expressed seri- ous concern over the number of deaths in road accidents in the state and announced a slew measures to pre- vent mishaps, which included raising aware- ness of traffic rules and regulations and enforcing them, con- ducting round the clock patrolling on highways as well as penalising those involved in run- ning unauthorised parking lots. It is worth mention- ing here that UP is the first state in the coun- try to run Live Emer- gency Monitoring Sys- tem. When I was an MP , I saw thou- sands of children were dying every year due to the outbreak of En- cephalitis in Gorakh- pur and surrounding areas. Hence, when I became the CM after 20 years, I started working on it by establishing in- ter-departmental coor- dination.” As a result, there has been a 95 percent de- cline in the number of deathsduetoencephali- tis in the state. This model came in handy during the COVID-19 period too, which was appreciated as a model in the country and the world. Happy for election of 47 women to the assembly: Governor Anandiben was welcomed by the chief minister and oth- er members of the assembly. This is how your tenure will be recognised.”Claiming that everyone coming to the Assembly is a public representative, CM said, “Our efforts should be to raise is- sues of public interest in fewer words.” CM Yogi also appealed to the public reps to set an example for the people of Uttar Pradesh through mutual coordina- tion and discussion. “Our government has already started work- ing on improving the mutual coordination and discussions. As a result, Alvida Namaz did not happen on the streets and there was no discrimina- tion in taking off the loudspeakers from the religious places,” said Yogi adding that the loudspeakersthat have been taken down have been donated to schools. UPgovttoaugmentdairy sector, dairy units to be developedonPPPmodel First India Bureau Lucknow: Aiming to boost the dairy sector in the state, a potential source of employment and revenue genera- tion, the UP govern- ment is planning to open dairy units through the public-pri- vate partnership (PPP) model. Chairing a high-level review meeting on Sat- urday , Yogi Adityanath said that strengthening the dairy sector of the state is one of the top priorities of our gov- ernment today . “Dairy units can be opened on the PPP model in the state. Make a planned effort to engage more and more youth in the dairy sector.” the CM maintained. The government will extend all cooper- ation to companies keen to work in the dairy sector here un- der the public-pri- vate-partnership mod- el, he added. The step of govern- ment will also help farmers get into the dairy business along with crop cultivation. The opening of new dairy units will also generate revenue for the government. Stressing the need for comprehensive re- forms in the function- ing of the Animal Hus- bandry Department, the CM said govern- ment officers of the department should be sent to the districts as nodal officers. They must check the ar- rangements in the cow shelters, and get the ‘bhoosa’ banks or fod- der banks built across districts. Strictest action should be taken against those involved in heinous crimes like cow smuggling, he add- ed. As per the vision of the government, the dairy sector, animal husbandry, white revo- lution can play a mas- sive role in changing the condition of the farmers for the better. Animal husbandry can become a huge source of additional in- come for the small farmersof thestateand is a great way of eco- nomic empowerment of women, to increase their participation in entrepreneurship. Gorakhnath temple hands over loudspeakers in compliance of CM Adityanath’s orders First India Bureau Lucknow/Gorakh- pur: The Gorakhnath temple handed over two loudspeakers to the dis- trict administration on Saturday . This comes following the instruc- tion of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to re- move loudspeakers in religious places and hand them over to schools. These loudspeakers are to be handed over to schools by the district administration, the UP Chief Minister’s office informed. The temple is situated in the home- town of CM Yogi and is a part of Gorakhnath Math, whose head priest is Adityanath. Around 54,000 unauthorised loudspeakers were re- moved from religious places and the volume of over 60,000 was set to permissible limits across the state. A statewide drive has been undertaken to re- move illegal loudspeak- ersfromreligiousplaces and set the volume of others within permissi- ble limits. Additional Director General of Po- lice (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar had said that a total of 53,942 loudspeakers were re- moved and a volume of 60,295 loudspeakers was set within permissible limits as of May 1. In the backdrop of communal clashes in the state, CM in April said that everyone has the freedom to follow his or her religious ideolo- gy and allowed the use of loudspeakers at reli- gious sites, but the sound should remain confined to the premises so that it doesn’t cause inconveniencetoothers. Following the orders, the Gorakhnath Temple trust in Gorakhpur low- ered the volume of the loudspeakers installed on the premises. Fissures within the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) had come out in the open on the death anniversary of its founder president Mahendra Singh Tikait on May 15, with a senior national office-bearer announc- ing the formation of a separate outfit. BKU vice-president Rajesh Chauhan said he took the decision after being “insulted” and alleged that the outfit sided with political parties in the elections, an apparent reference to UP Assembly polls. The new outfit was named the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Arajnaitik). “Arajnaitik” means apolitical in Hindi. Reacting to it, Tikait told reporters on Saturday that the new organisation was formed at the behest of the BJP government. Mission Rozgar: 1 job to every family YOGI GOVT HAS SET A TARGET TO PROVIDE GOVT JOBS, EMPLOYMENT IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS Lucknow (PTI): In a major step toward ful- filling the resolve of providing employment or self-employment op- portunities to at least one person in every family in the next five years, the UP govt is mulling to make the ‘family card’ of each family in the state. The thought-process in this regard is on by experts, according to an official spokesman. The scheme envisions employment for a mem- ber of every family which does not have a job in the state and im- prove their living con- ditions. It also set im- portant social goals, such as empowering women and widening opportunities for mar- ginalized population groups. The state govt is thinking to take a slew of measures, of which one includes the developing of family cards. The family card will be aimed at keeping the economic, social and employment sta- tus of the family. It will help the government to identify and work to- wards providing em- ployment or self-em- ployment to members of those families whose economic status is low. Since the pro- cess will take some time, the govt has de- cided to consider the ration card of each family for the purpose. Based on the assess- ment, the govt will con- nect one member of each such family em- ployment generation scheme of the govt. It may be recorded that UP has recorded the lowest unemployment rate of 2.9 percent as per the latest survey released by the CMIE. The govt is striving hard to bring it down to zero by providing employment to one member of every fam- ily in the state. The visionary poli- cies and employment- oriented schemes initi- ated by CM Yogi have played a huge role in promoting the setting up of new businesses and simultaneously generating new job opportunities for the youth. Asheesh Kumar Shukla Lucknow: When Prashant, who works as a government servant, who was coming from Bhopal stepped down from the Sabarmati Ex- press, he found that the National Flag, which, he used to salute every- time he comes to Luc- know, his home town, is missing. No flag was has been seen flying outside the railway station, which is known to be a treat for the eyes for people coming from all parts of the nation. “ I used to salute the national flag every time I come Lucknow, it was a ritu- al which was missed yesterday’’, he said, when he found that the flag was missing from the station. The pictur- esque tricolour that used to paint scenic skies of the ‘Badi line’ side of the Charbagh railway station is also missed by the passen- gers of Lucknow Met- ro, that takes an elevat- ed route starting Char- bagh Metro station. When contacted about the missing na- tional flag “ Some times there are works needed. The flag may need some sort of patchworks or fading colours need to be ad- dressed. This flag is no small flag therefore needs some time for maintenance”, said Vikram PRO of the DRM office in Lko. When asked about al- ternate arrangements of having another flag he said,” It is not easy for people to do so. It is a time taking and la- bourious task, and therefore takes time”. Badaun (PTI): A 21-year-old man was allegedly killed by his former girlfriend and her family members here, officials said on Saturday. According to the complaint filed by one Ravindra Pal Singh, a resident of Kot village here, his son Dinesh was in a relationship with Ku- mari and he wanted to marry her. However, her parents fixed her marriage elsewhere. Dinesh, however, pressured Kumari to elope with him and this irked her, police said. Kumari and Ra- jaram hatched a plan to kill Dinesh and they summoned him to their village on May 10. The duo stran- gled Dinesh and dumped his body in a well. First India Bureau Lucknow: The stories of brave police person- nel taking a stand even when faced by grim situation during the Bikru incident on July 2, 2020 have been ascer- tained again by the statement of SSP to the commission. It was reported that the police personnel who had gone to nab Vikas Dubey put up a brave front even when outnumbered, out- gunned and seriously injured. The cops were caught unawares and each tried to save their injured comrades from line of fire. All these brave deeds of the police personnel though have not been honoured even after 2 years of the incident. CM Yogi has in the past praised the martyred policemen and injured policemen but no med- al has been presented to them. On the tragic night of July, a group of policemen had gone to Bikru to arrest Vi- kas Dubey, when Dubey and his accom- plices trapped the po- lice personnel and opened fire at them. In the incident, eight police personnel were killed while four constables, Kaushelen- dra Singh who was SO Bithoor and a home guard were injured. After the death of Vikas Dubey, the govt constituted a commis- sion under Justice Chauhan to uncover what transpired in Bik- ru village due to which no medal or distinction were given to the cops. In the investigation, all were given a clean chit but it was only the home guard who re- ceived the medal whereas other cops involved in the inci- dent are yet to receive medal. It is no secret that during Azam Khan’s long period of trial and tribula- tion nobody from the party stood by him. Shivpal Yadav also ex- tended his support after he him- self was pushed to the sidelines by Akhilesh Yadav. It will be no surprise if Azam Khan chooses to part ways with the party even if he has nowhere to go. Azam’s moves will be keenly watched during the Rajya Sabha elections. The Samajwadi Party has 111 legislators, 32 of whom are Muslims. They have to be kept in good humour if Akhile- sh Yadav has to win the three Rajya Sabha seats the numbers entitle him to. If he doesn’t, then it will be a sad commentary on his leadership which is already facing a lot of questions. TOP TWEETS M f you earn Rs 25,000 or more per month feel happy because you are part of the top 10 percent of the wage bracket. This group is below the top one percent, or the rich, who account for 5-7 percent of the national income. Below the middle income group are those earning less than Rs 5,000 a month. They consti- tute 15 percent of the popula- tion. Given the subsidised ration being distributed among the poor and high in- flation the middle income group is the worst hit as it gets no financial/material support from the govern- ment. The overall income disparity between the top one percent and the 15 per- cent lower income group is also far too stark. This ine- quality gets more pro- nounced when one looks at the trend which shows the rich getting richer and the poor poorer. These findings have been revealed in the State of Ine- quality in India Report of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council released by Bibek Debroy, Chairperson of the Council. Notably, Debroy said at the launch that there’s a lack of comprehensive data to bring down inequality the report has recommended a guaran- teedemploymentprogramme for the urban unemployed on the lines of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) and a Universal Basic In- come scheme. On the face of it a MNRE- GA like scheme for urban areas looks impractical in view of the differences in the nature of rural and urban activities. For a complete picture of the economy , the government must come out with the data about monthly per capita ex- penditure. INCOME DISPARITY SYNDROME Debroy said at the launch that there’s a lack of comprehensive data to bring down inequality, the report has recommended a guaranteed employment programme for the urban unemployed on the lines of MNREGA and a Universal Basic Income scheme I n May 10, the newly appoint- ed Vice-Chancellor of Jawa- harlal Nehru University, the distinguished Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, according to newspaper reports said that India did not learn ‘dem- ocratic values’ from the Brit- ish. From where did we learn these values? Who intro- duced the democratic elec- toral process in India? Bur- ma was a democracy till 1962. In that year General Ne Win over threw Thakin Nu’s dem- ocratic government. Did the Cholas really run a democracy, did they have a Parliament, was the Ruler elected by the people. India Cultural nationalism? The Culture of Tamil Nadu is dif- ferent from the culture of the Braj region, where I come from. India was ruled by Mus- lims for nearly a thousand years. They were a minority . The Muslims ruled over us with the help of us Hindus. No democracy during the Mughal rule, leave alone the Guptas or Harsha. Ghazni looted the Somnath Temple many times, did any Hindu ruler challenge him. Does historical evidence exist that Ghazani was ever effectively challenged. Who said govern- ment of the people, for the people, by the people. Not Swami Dayanand Saraswati. Yes, Panchayats did exist in certain parts of Bharatvar- sha but these were not na- tional institutions. Can the erudite, Vice-Chan- cellor produce facts about Draupadi and Sita being real historical persons. Read Gan- dhiji, he categorically states that they were mythological figures. Incidentally the Cho- las did not rule this country for 2000 years. Santishree Pandit is quot- ed in the Indian Express thus, “Many people believe that feminist or women’s rights movement began only with Marx and ended there.” I have read a fair amount of the writings of Marx. He treated his wife abdominally . The greatest Marxist histo- rian of the 20th century Eric Hobsbawm, nowhere men- tion Marx’s feminism. As far as I can recall, Karl Marx was not a feminist. Gandhiji was. He had Sarojni Naidu elected President of the Con- gress in 1925. I sincerely hope that the erudite Shrimati Dhulipudi Pandit has been misquoted. However, the fact cannot be denied that Brahmins had till very recent times were addressed as gurus. All spir- itual, intellectual and schol- arly activity in Bharatvash from the beginning of time was solely under the supervi- sion and control of this ex- traordinary Community, whose population has never reached double figures. Nowhere has it been written in the Congress Constitu- tion that a Hindu cannot become PCC President of Pun- jab because he is a Hindu. Sonia Gandhi should have overruled the woman. She did not. Jakhar naturally was upset and spoke up critically of the so called high command. A show cause notice was sent to him. This was the breaking point. He resigned from the Congress party and joined BJP. The loss of the Congress was the gain of the BJP. Sunil’s father was Speaker of the Lok Sabha twice an Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Hardik Patel, the very young and active patidar leader too has resigned and lambasted the unsavoury activities going on at the Udaipur Shivir. He was particularly hard on Rahul Gandhi. Not a happy situation for the Congress.

CHANDRAPUR MISHAP: CM UDDHAV DECLARES FINANCIAL AID OF `5L TO KIN Sharat K Verma New Delhi: Elections have been announced for 57 Rajya Sabha seats. Elections are to be held on these seats on June 10 next month and it is being claimed that BJP seats will increase in the Upper House. It is also being said that af- ter the Lok Sabha, the BJP is now moving to- wards a majority in the Rajya Sabha as well. However, there is no in- crease in BJP’s seats under normal circum- stances. Its number of seats will remain the same as before or there will be a decrease of one seat in it. Yes, if the BJP nominates such people on all the seven vacant seats of the nominated category, who declare themselves as members of the BJP as soon as they take oath, then the BJP will have the advan- tage of three seats. Four of the seven retired MPs were members of the BJP and Mary Kom, Chhatrapati Sambhaji and Narendra Jadhav kept themselves inde- pendent. Among the states where Rajya Sabha elec- tions are to be held, the BJP will have the advan- tage of only three seats in Uttar Pradesh, but it will have to bear the loss of seats in Rajasthan, AndhraPradesh,Chhat- tisgarh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Telan- gana. In Uttar Pradesh, 11 seats are falling va- cant, out of which five seats belong to the BJP and it will get three ad- ditional seats this time. In this way, the party will have the advantage of three seats in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, BJP will have the advantage of one seat in Uttarakhand, where Pradeep Tamta of Con- gress is retiring. Apart from these four seats, the BJP has no advan- tage in any state. The BJP will suffer the maximum loss of three seats each in Ra- jasthan and Andhra Pradesh. All the four seats falling vacant in Rajasthan belong to the BJP. According to the position of the parties in the assembly, this time the Congress can win three seats. The Congress-led govern- ment has 125 MLAs and needs 41 votes to win a seat. Meanwhile, four seats are falling vacant in Andhra Pradesh, out of which three seats are of BJP . This time all the four seats will go to the account of YSR Con- gress. Three out of six seats falling vacant in Maharashtra belong to the BJP, but this time it will be able to win only two seats and will lose one seat. Of the two seats fall- ing vacant in Chhattis- garh, one seat belongs to the BJP but it will not be able to win a single seat this time rather will lose one seat. Two seats are falling vacant in Jharkhand, out of which BJP will be able to win only one seat this time. So, there will also be a loss of one seat. Apart from these, in the states where elections are held, the number of BJP seats in Bihar, Ma- harashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana will remain constant. That is, the more people who retire, the more people will come back again. In this way , BJP is gaining four seats in two states and losing nine seats in five states. Even if we add the advantage of three seats in the nominated category, the gain is seven and the loss is nine. So, BJP’s seats are going to remain fixed at one hundred only . • 9. LUCKNOW | SUNDAY, MAY 22, 2022 08 2NDFRONT Stretch your mind with experience and you will never be the same again. —Jagdeesh Chandra, CEO Editor-in-Chief, First India SC clarifies on Places of Worship Act First India Bureau Varanasi: In what could be a crucial obser- vation with regard to cases on the nature and character of religious structures in the coun- try, the Supreme Court on Friday orally re- marked that the Places of Worship Act, 1991 does not bar the as- certainment of the reli- gious character of a place of worship. The remark was made by Justice DY Chandrachud during the hearing of the G y a n v a p i - K a s h i Vishwanath case. “As- certainment of reli- gious character is not barred under Section 3 of the 1991 Act.  Suppose there is a Parsi temple and there is a cross in the corner of the area. Does the presence of Agyari make the cross Agyari or Agyari Christian? This hybrid character is not unknown,” he re- marked. However, Sen- ior Counsel Huzefa Ah- madi, who was appear- ing for the Muslim par- ty, contested the same. “The religious charac- ter of the (Gyanvapi) Mosque as on August 15, 1947 is not in dis- pute,” he said. ”It is strongly in dispute,” the lawyer for Hindu par- ties retorted. “You may think so. If this is enter- tained, then the 1991 Act may be only a dead letter. This is the con- troversy the Act wanted to avoid,” Ahmadi coun- tered. The Places of Worship Act of 1991, which was introduced at the height of the Ram Janmabhoomi move- ment, seeks to protect the status of all reli- gious structures as they stood on August 15, 1947. Section 4 of the Act states that the religious character of a place of worship existing on Au- gust 15, 1947 shall con- tinue to be the same as it existed on that day . It bars courts from enter- taining cases filed over the character of such places of worship. The provision further states that such cases already pendingincourtswould stand abated. If any suit or proceeding is insti- tuted on the ground that conversion of reli- gious character of a place of worship has taken place after Aug 15, 1947, then such case has to be disposed of in a manner that the char- acter existing on Au- gust 15, 1947 is restored. Ahtesham Siddiqui Lucknow: Arecommis- sioner-level officers still going to be posted as dis- trict collectors in the state? Even after being promoted to Secretary/ Commissioner rank, 4 IAS officers are still posted as collectors. The bureaucracy corridor in the state is full of talks about when these special secretary rank IAS officers get their new postings, so that new IAS officers can be promoted as col- lectors. At the begin- ning of the year the government promoted 11 IAS (6 RR and 5 SCS) officers of 2006-batch to the rank of secretary and only IAS Zuher Bin Sagir (RR) was not pro- moted owing to the de- partment inquiry against him. It has been 5 months since these IAS officers were promoted but yet four are still posted as collectors. These in- clude Kaushal Raj Shar- ma DM Varanasi, Selva Kumari J, DM Aligarh, Abhishek Prakash DM, Lucknow and Shruti Singh DM Etawah. Kaushal Raj Shar- ma, DM Varanasi holds the record of holding the post of DM for the longest period among the IAS officers of 2006 batch. Selva Kumari is known to have a strong- hold in the govern- ment. Abhishek Prakash, has been try- ing to move to a com- missioner- level post for long but due to his fame of being hard- working and ethical, the government wants to replace him with a similarly capable of- ficer but is unable to decide on a name. There are internal jokes though that the 4 DMs will get new post- ings as per their rank only after the civic body elections. Prayagraj: The Alla- habad High Court has denied bail to an ac- cused of forced conver- sion of a minor to Mus- lim Religion and com- pelling her for perfor- mance of Nikah. The single-judge benchof JusticeDinesh Kumar Singh observed that the accused-appli- cant not only betrayed his wife and family, but also breached the trust of an innocent girl, who believed in him and got entangled in his false love. The accused-appli- cant is a married man who practice Muslim faith. He introduced himself trough social media to the prosecu- trix as ‘Raj’and entan- gled in his false love web. He enticed away the tender aged girl. The medical age of the prosecutrix was deter- mined to be 16-17 years and as per the educa- tional testimonials, her age was determined to be 16 years. The accused-appli- cant was charged for of- fences punishable un- der Sections 363, 366, 376 IPC, Section 3/5 POCSO Act. The Court took into consideration all the facts including the foul play of the accused-ap- plicant in hiding his marital status and faith. HC: No bail to Anwar who forced minor to convert OBSERVATION Rejecting the bail application, the bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh observed, “Looking at the nature of the offence, marital status of the appli- cant and also the fact that he introduced himself as ‘Raj’ to the prosecutrix though he is Anwar Ali, and the prosecutrix being minor court does not find any ground to enlarge the applicant on bail.” COURTESY MEET! Jagdeesh Chandra met former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr Raman Singh during a courtesy meet at the VIP Lounge, Jaipur International Airport on Saturday. Jammu and Kashmir BJP State President Ravindra Raina and Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra were also present. CHICKEN SANDWICH, RAHUL AND HARDIK The politics of to- day’s era has re- duced the fine line be- tween ‘Nayak’ and ‘Pratinayak’, even though the tradition of singing paeans of one ‘Nayak’ may be attrib- uted to a particular party , but this tradition has been broken in the Congress. It is learned from the sources that when Rahul Gandhi had gone to Gujarat prior to the Udaipur Chintan Shivir, party working president Hardik Patel had reached out to meet him at his luxurious hotel in Ahmedabad. Patel is said to have taken with him a special Gujarati vegetarian dish pre- pared at his home for Rahul. But even in Hardik’s company, Ra- hul found it more appro- priate to order chicken sandwiches from the hotel’s restaurant in- stead of Patel’s home cooked Guja- rati cuisine. Hardik felt bad about this. After this, Hardik handed over a list of about one hundred and fifty influential Gujara- ti people whom he want- ed to be introduced to Rahul. But Rahul ex- pressed his reluctance to meet these people and said that he is in a re- laxed mood now and has to return to Delhi the next day, so this time it will not be possible to meet these people. Ra- hul further told Hardik that if he wanted to in- troduce these people, he can bring them to Delhi. Hardik was displeased with this, and after leav- ing the hotel room, he angrily told some of his trusted friends, “If our leader does not want to come out of the gyms and massage rooms, then only God can save the Congress.” Howev- er, Rahul apparently learned about this com- ment by Hardik and was stunned. Upon reaching Delhi, he complained to his mother about Hardik and said- ‘This man is very rude, we will not call him to Udaipur.’ Sonia tried to pacify Rahul stressing that party works on con- stitution and can not be run on whims and fan- cies. But when Rahul remained a d a m a n t on his stand, a decision was taken that no work- ing presidents would be called in the Udaipur’s Chintan Shivir. But this decision of the high command was criti- cized everywhere. Therefore, in view of the growing dissatisfac- tion in the party, Sonia Gandhi has now decid- ed that ‘very soon the party’s mini contempla- tion camp will be organ- ized, in which state gov- ernmentministersfrom Congress-ruled states of RajasthanandChhat- tisgarh, Maharashtra and Jharkhand, party’s national spokesperson etc about 120 leaders in- cluding working presi- dents will be invited. RAHUL GOES TO LONDON Soon after the end of Udaipur Chintan Shivir, Congress’s re- splendent ‘star’ Rahul Gandhi has reached London. He has gone to London at the invitation of UK-based think-tank ‘Bridge India’, where he is going to participate in the ‘Ideas for India’ con- ference, and along with this Rahul has also de- livered a speech at Cam- bridge University . But surprisingly, earlier in such international fo- rums Rahul was called as a single speaker, but this time the list of speakers speaking in ‘Ideas for India’ is much longer. Congress’s Sal- man Khurshid, Sam Pitroda, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury , RJD President Tejashwi Yadav and Ra- jya Sabha MP Manoj Ku- mar Jha, TMC’s fire- brand MP Mahua Moi- tra and TRS’s KT Rama Rao are also going to speakinthisconference. PRIYANKA ANGRY WITH PRAMOD KRISHNAM During a meeting at the Congress’ Chintan Shivir at Udaipur, Congress lead- er Pramod Krishnam demanded, in a loud voice, that Priyanka Gandhi should be made the new president of the party. This demand made Priyanka so un- comfortable that she immediately pointed her eyes at her col- league Deepender Hoo- da. Deepender silenced Acharya Pramod and said, “we are no one to decide the name of the party president, leave this decision to the par- ty and the family.” Af- ter this, it was Mall- ikarjun Kharge direct- ed his anger at Acharya Pramod and scolded Acharya in a slightly loud voice saying, “You keep quiet, it is not your job to decide this nor is it a forum to raise such an issue.” After the meeting was over, Acharya Pramod took Sachin Pilot along to meet Priyanka. As soon as the duo arrived at Priyanka’s room, Pri- yanka could not control her anger and she scolded Acharya say- ing, “You need to im- prove yourself. Do not even try to create a quarrel in the family. You try to publicize out- side that you are my political advisor, today, you tell me how many of your messages do I reply to?” While Acha- rya Pramod Krishnam stood there without a word from his side, it was Sachin Pilot who handled the matter and somehow quelled Pri- yanka’s anger.
