New Delhi: The CBI has
taken over the probe into
the case of coins worth
Rs 11 crore going missing
from the vaults of the SBI
branch in Mehandipur
Balaji in Dausa, officials
said on Monday.
State Bank of India (SBI)
had approached the
Rajasthan High Court
seeking a CBI probe into
the matter as the missing
amount was higher than
Rs 3 crore, the threshold
for seeking a probe by
the agency. On the high
court’s directions, the CBI
has taken over the FIR
earlier registered by the
Rajasthan Police.
The matter came to light
after the SBI branch decid-
ed to carry out counting of
money after a preliminary
enquiry indicated discrep-
ancy in the cash reserve at
the bank. A Jaipur-based
private vendor was roped
in to carry out the count-
ing of coins worth over
Rs 13 crore, according to
branch account books.
The counting revealed that
over Rs 11 crore worth
of coins were missing
from the branch. Only
3,000 coin bags carrying
about Rs 2 crore could be
accounted for and were
transferred to the RBI’s
coin holding branch.

Jaipur: Ugly scenes
were witnessed in the
GBM of Jaipur Munici-
palCorporationGreater
(JMCG) in which a mo-
tion to censure the com-
missioner was moved,
prompting the commis-
sioner and other offic-
ers and employees to
boycott the meeting.
Five proposals were
to be discussed in the
meeting chaired by the
Mayor Dr Somya but
amid din and uproar,
only two could be
passed. The meeting
was held after 444 days.
Scuffle also broke out
between the councillors
of BJP and Congress
and the meeting was ad-
journed thrice.
A censure motion
was brought against the
Commissioner on
which there was a con-
frontation between the
officials of the corpora-
tion and the public rep-
resentatives. All the of-
ficers and employees,
including the commis-
sioner, boycotted the
meeting and left.
The motion was
moved on behalf of Ji-
tendra Shrimali against
the Commissioner Yag-
yamitra Singh Deo. In
response, the commis-
sioner opposed and sig-
naled all the officers-
employees to walk out
of the house. Half of the
Congress councillors
also boycotted the house
in support of the com-
missioner. However,
half the Congress coun-
cillors and BJP council-
lors unanimously
passed the motion.
Till now, the opposi-
tion’s boycott has been
witnessed but this is the
first time that the offi-
cials have boycotted the
House. Speaking to the
media, Commissioner
said that many council-
lors made personal al-
legations against vari-
ous officers. Referring
to Rules, he said that no
member can make any
allegation on a person
or officer. He said that
the matter which is sub-
judice also cannot be
discussed in any way.
On the other hand, May-
or Dr Somya said that it
was not proper for Deo
to leave the house. The
meeting will resume to-
morrow.
Aconfrontation between the officers and public representa-
tives in Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater was seen in
the GBM on Monday. As soon as the motion was moved, the
commissioner objected and signaled all the employees and of-
ficers to walk out of the house. On signal by the commission-
ers, officers and employees sitting in the house stood up from
their seats and after 2 minutes, they all walked out of the house
along with the commissioner. For the first time in the history of
the Municipal Corporation, it has been seen that instead of the
opposition, the officers of the Corporation have boycotted.

‘GETTING BETTER AT VENDOR MANAGEMENT
CAN PROVIDE YOUR ORGANISATION A
STRATEGIC COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE’
here are several ways to get
ahead of your competition –
offer more competitive prices
on your products, provide
higher quality items and ren-
der more reliable customer
support. Guess who can help
you accomplish these?
Supplier relationship man-
agement allows for planning
and carrying out of strategic
plans between both parties.
You can benefit from your
suppliers’ expertise because
they can work with you in
identifying key areas that
need improvement, contrib-
ute towards product develop-
ment, and modify current
strategies to draw sales and
increase market share.
Regardlessof whatbusiness
you’re in, vendors play a key
roleinthesuccessof yourbusi-
ness. The time, money and en-
ergy used to nurture a positive
vendor relationship cannot be
measured directly against the
company’s bottom line.  How-
ever, a well-managed vendor
relationship will result in in-
creased customer satisfaction,
reduced costs, better quality
,
and better service from the
vendor. Whenandif problems
arise, rest assured that a well-
managed vendor will be quick
to remedy the situation
Being in the business of
business — whether you’re
the manufacturer, shipping
specialist, retailer or some-
one in between — requires a
significant amount of faith
in other people.
Whenyourelysoheavilyon
others to ensure that your
business is operating at its
highest efficiency
, you need to
recognizehowimportantyour
vendor management system
is. A vendor management sys-
tem allows you to build rela-
tionships with your suppliers
and service providers, which
in turn not only helps your
businessbuttheirsaswell.It’s
a simple analogy — when all
enginesarerunningsmoothly
,
your train will be the first to
arrive at the station.
Your suppliers are critical
to your success in the market
and your profits; they’re at
the heart of many of your or-
ganization’s processes and
activities. To get the best val-
ue for your money
, you should
betakingastrategicapproach
to efficiently managing your
suppliers. Doing so will have
myriad beneficial effects.
Take the example of Uniqlo.
Uniqlo is one of the fastest-
growing retailers in the in-
dustry
.
The brand, owned by Ja-
pan’sFastRetailing,isknown
for its colorful basics and sci-
entific approach to clothing.
In a report for New York
University’s Stern Center
For Business and Human
Rights, Sarah Labowitz and
Dorothee Baumann-Pauly
have clearly mentioned how
Uniqlo fosters relationships
with suppliers and how it
contributes significantly to-
wards its success.
Uniqlo “calls its suppliers
‘partners,’ and goes so far as
to place technical experts in
supplier facilities to act as
trainers and coaches to im-
prove production,” Labowitz
and Baumann-Pauly write .
This leads to added trust in
the relationship, as evi-
denced by this anecdote.
“One Chinese supplier that
works with a range of Euro-
pean and American buyers
described how Uniqlo provid-
ed him with 18-month fore-
casts of order volume. If the
company deviated by more
than a certain percentage,
Uniqlo would apologize and
offer to compensate him for
thelostproduction.Otherbuy-
ers, in contrast, would simply
cancel orders or reduce vol-
umes with neither an apology
northeofferof compensation.
Because of the trust Uniqlo
has fostered, the supplier is
more likely to accommodate
unforeseen changes in or-
ders. The suppliers are happy
to receive additional training
and technical support.
Using the vendor manage-
ment best practices will
strengthen your company’s
overall performance in the
marketplace. Ignoring these
sound vendor management
principles will result in a dys-
functional relationship that
will have the potential to neg-
atively impact your business.
Getting better at Vendor
Management can provide
your organization a strategic
competitive advantage. It’s
estimated by Ardent Part-
ners that only 22% of large
organizations have a formal,
technology-enabled vendor
management program in
place. Just make sure you are
doing it the right way
.

FOCUS ON 370 LOK SABHA SEATS, FORGE ALLIANCE FOR REST: KISHOR TO CONGRESS
New Delhi (Agencies):
Congress chief Sonia
Gandhi is holding a
meeting with a select
group of party col-
leagues to discuss the
proposal of election
strategist Prashant
Kishor for the revival
of the party and its
game plan for the 2024
general elections. There
is also the crucial final
call to take about
Kishor’s joining the
party — a plan that has
once fallen though due
to dissent from within.
This time, Kishor has
pitched a proposal un-
der which, sources
said, the Congress can
contest 370 seats and
have coalitions with
friendly parties in par-
ticular states.
Kishor has suggested
that the Congress fight
alone in Uttar Pradesh,
Bihar and Odisha, and
form alliances in Tamil
Nadu, West Bengal and
Maharashtra, to which
Rahul Gandhi has
agreed, media earlier
reported, quoting un-
named sources.
The Congress, sourc-
es have said, has time
till May 2 to revert on
the proposal.
The meeting at Gan-
dhi’s 10 Janpath Road
residence in Delhi is be-
ing attended by her
daughter and party
General Secretary Pri-
yanka Gandhi Vadra,
and senior leaders
Mukul Wasnik, Ran-
deep Singh Surjewala,
KC Venugopal, and Am-

There has been con-

wards Kishor and his
proposal in view of his
close collaboration with
leaders who have been

and have had a fractious
relationship with the

Among them are Ben-
gal Chief Minister and
Trinamool Congress
chief Mamata Baner-
jee, her Andhra Pradesh
counterpart Jagan Mo-
han Reddy and Telan-
gana Chief Minister K
Chandrashekar Rao.
Kishor’s organisation
IPAC had crafted ex-
tremely successful elec-
tion campaigns for both

.
While talks for
Kishor, or PK, joining
the Congress fell

conversation with the

Dejected parties taking refuge in
vote bank, divisive politics: Nadda
New Delhi (PTI): BJP
president JP Nadda on
Monday accused the op-
position of waging a
“direct onslaught on
the spirit of our nation
and casting aspersions
on our hardworking
citizens”, in a reaction
to the rival parties’
joint statement attack-
ing the Modi Govern-
ment over incidents of
hate speech and com-
munal violence.
In a letter to fellow
Indians, Nadda said the
opposition parties’
“tried, tested, or I
should say dusted and
rusted approach of vote
bank politics, divisive
politics, and selective
politics is no longer
working” as Prime Min-
ister Narendra Modi’s
emphasis on ‘Sabka
Saath, Sabka Vikas,
Sabka Vishwas and
Sabka Prayas’ has seen
Indians being empow-
ered and getting the
wings to rise further.
Nadda’s letter follows
a joint statement of op-
position parties on re-
cent violence. “Under
the leadership of Prime
Minister Narendra
Modi and his emphasis
on ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka
Vikas, Sabka Vishwas
and Sabka Prayas’ eve-
ry Indian is being em-
powered and is getting
the wings to rise fur-
ther. Unfortunately
, this
thrust towards develop-
ment politics is being
bitterly resisted by the
rejected and dejected
parties who are once
again taking refuge in
vote bank and divisive
politics,” Nadda wrote.

Pakistan is cutting elec-
tricity to households
and industry as the
cash-strapped country
can no longer afford to
buy coal or natural gas
from overseas to fuel its
power plants.
The South Asian na-
tion is struggling to pro-
cure fuel from the spot
market after prices of
liquefied natural gas
and coal surged to re-
cords last month as the
war in Ukraine exacer-
bated supply shortfalls.
Pakistan’s energy costs
more than doubled to
$15 billion in nine
months ended Febru-
ary from a year earlier,
and it isn’t able to spend
more on additional
shipments.
About 3,500 mega-
watts worth of power
capacity had been shut
due to the fuel shortag-
es as of April 13, accord-
ing to a Twitter post by
Miftah Ismail, who has
been selected as finance
minister by new Prime
Minister Shehbaz Sha-
rif. A similar amount is
offline due to technical
faults, he said.
The more than 7,000
megawatts represents
almost a fifth of total
generation capacity, ac-
cording to Tahir Abbas,
the head of research at

NESO urge Shah to revoke decision
on Hindi must subject till Class X
Shillong (Agencies):
The North East Stu-
dents’ Organisation
(NESO), an apex body
of eight influential stu-
dents’ organisations of
the region, has urged
Union Home Minister
Amit Shah to revoke the
decision to make Hindi
a compulsory subject in
all the northeastern
states up to Class X as
“the move in the region
would be detrimental”.
The NESO told Shah
that imposition of Hin-
di as a compulsory sub-
ject in the northeastern
region would be detri-
mental not only for the
propagation and dis-
semination of the in-
digenous languages but
also to students who
will be compelled to add
another subject to their
already vast syllabus.
NESO Chairman
Samuel B Jyrwa and
Secretary General
Sinam Prakash Singh
in their letters to Shah
said that in the region
each state bears its own
unique and diversified
languages spoken by
different ethnic groups
ranging from Indo-Ary-
an to Tibeto-Burman to
Austro-Asiatic families.
“In the region, a na-
tive or indigenous lan-
guage or a mother
tongue is an important
marker for a communi-
ty
. Native or indigenous
languages are being
further enriched in
terms of all aspects
such as in literature,
academics and arts.”
On April 10, Union
Minister Amit Shah
had said that Hindi
should be accepted
as an alternate
language to English
but not to local
languages.

INTUC IS A PART OF CONGRESS,
SAYS JAGDISHRAJ SHRIMALI
In the programme, INTUC State President Jag-
dishraj Shrimali also mentioned in front of CM
Gehlot that the ministers do not take name of IN-
TUC in the programmes. Shrimali said that INTUC
is a part of Congress. The names of the forward
organizations of Congress are taken in the pro-

should also get respect and respect in the party,”
he said. Earlier in the programme, INTUC officials
submitted a memorandum to CM Gehlot regarding
the problems of the workers, on which CM Gehlot
said that the government would take steps to solve
them. The CM told them to strengthen INTUC.
CM GEHLOT LAUNCHES WEBSITE
TO AUCTION MEMENTOS GIFTS
First India Bureau
Jaipur: Chief Minis-
ter Ashok Gehlot on
Monday launched a
website for the auction
of mementos he has re-
ceived.
Addressing the func-
tion, Gehlot said that
CP Joshi had asked
him about the idea of
online auction of me-
mentos. He said that he
got the inspiration for
the auction from Indi-
ra Gandhi and he start-
ed this initiative when
he became the CM.
Through the website
www.RajCMMemen-
tos.com, auction will
be held online from
April 25 which so far
was being done offline.
Gehlot said that his
wife Sunita Gehlot has
a big contribution in
managing mementos
he got on various occa-
sions. He also praised
his PSOs. He said that
whenever there is any
natural calamity or cri-
sis in any state of the
country, people of Raj
have cooperated whole-
heartedly through
CMRF or other means.
“Helping the victim in
calamity has been a
great tradition of Raj,
which we are all proud
of,” he said. “It is our
endeavor that the pro-

GEHLOT AGAIN TARGETS BULLDOZER POLITICS
First India Bureau
Jaipur: Chief Minister
Ashok Gehlot has once
again targeted the run-
ning of bulldozers over
properties of riot ac-
cused in UP and MP
. Ge-
hlot said the BJP gov-
ernments are running
bulldozers on innocent
people. The CM was ad-
dressing the state work-
ing committee meeting
of INTUC (Indian Na-
tional Trade Union Con-
gress) here on Monday
.
“Riots happened in
Karauli without any rea-
son. These people are de-
liberately prolonging it.
They do not understand
that bulldozers are run-
ning on innocent people
in their ruled states of
UPandMadhyaPradesh.
They don’t care about
them and are doing poli-
tics here,” he said.
Gehlot said this is
preparation before the
2023 assembly elections,
so these people are de-
liberately creating such
an atmosphere. “This is
a dangerous environ-
ment. Today politics is
being done in the name
of religion. If you want
to win the election by
doing Hindu-Muslim,
that is an easy task.
Compete on the basis of
ideology. Who makes
good policy in the inter-
est of the country soon,
there should be a debate
on this,” he said.
Gehlot said that there
is a dangerous environ-
ment in the country
right now and there
should be no place for
violence. “What is hap-
pening in the country
today? Those in power
have come by winning
in name of democracy,
but they have no faith in
democracy. There are
anti-social elements
who commit violence.
PM should go ahead
and say this,” he said.
Sonia Gandhi has
also suggested the same
by writing an article.
These people are delib-
erately creating a dan-
gerous environment.
When everyone will live
in peace only then there
will be development in
the country and the
country will remain
one and united.

New Delhi/Jaipur:
The three day ‘Chintan
Shivir’ of Congress is
likely to be held in
Udaipur on May 12, 13
and 14, said sources on
Monday
. Around 400
Congress leaders from
across the country are
expected to gather in the
'Chintan Shivir', in
which Congress Work-
ing Committee (CWC)
members, All India Con-
gress Committee (AICC)
office-bearers, former
Union Ministers, State
Presidents and Legisla-
ture Party leaders will
be invited to discuss the
reasons for the defeat of
the party in the recently
concluded elections as
well as the upcoming
strategies.
CM Ashok Gehlot on
Monday said that the
party high command is
thinking with regard to
the Shivir, which is
likely in the second
week of May. When Ge-
hlot went to Udaipur in
the programme of Seva
Dal, he had inspected
some hotels.
“If the party high
command gives instruc-
tions, there will be a
large scale event in Ra-
jasthan,” Gehlot told
the media on Monday
.
This 'Shivir' is very
important for the future
of Congress as a new
Congress President is
likely to be elected in a
few months. However, it
is not yet decided wheth-
er Rahul Gandhi will
take over the reins of
the party or not.
It is an interesting
coincidence that Con-
gress' last Chintan
Shivir was held in
Jaipur in 2013 in
which Rahul Gandhi
was made the party
vice-president. It is
possible that the road-
map of Prashant
Kishor will also be dis-
cussed in the Chintan
Shivir. —With Agency Inputs

RAHUL GANDHI LIKELY TO VISIT
JAIPUR ON MAY 9 OR MAY 20
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit
Jaipur on May 9 or 20 and address a big gathering
in Dudu or Kotputli, party sources said. The rally in
Jaipur's Dudu may be on May 9 or at Kotputli on May
20. The Congress’ Azadi ki Gaurav Yatra is passing
through Rajasthan and Rahul may address
them. Dharmendra Rathore and Pawan
Godara have been entrusted with the task
of preparations. Both have been made in-
charges of Jaipur district regarding the yatra
and are likely to visit Kotpulti today. There
will be a roadshow in Jaipur on May 13.
Gehlot is forgetting
that Sangh is an or-
ganisation based on
national policy, not on
politics, the aim of
which is to make
Akhand Bharat. This
organisation has al-
ways tried to eliminate
class distinction, caste
discrimination and
high and low discrimi-
nation in the society.
—Vasundhara Raje, ,
National Vice President of BJP
It has been great tradition of Rajasthan to help the victims in calamity, CM says
Karigiri run by designer
sisters Sulakshna and
Arpita are fine examples
of how best to fuse one’s
talents for the greater
good, given they have
already made footprints
in India and the Gulf
they seem well-
prepped to grow and
branch out like a
banyan tree. In an
exclusive interview
with City First, the
designers talk
about their
journey in the
glamour
world
ell us something
about Karigiri.
Our goal is to
breathe new life
into women’s
clothing that
exudes ele-
gance, grace, and beau-
ty with a dash of boldness
and pride. We would like our
brand to be an umbrella label
where women can find any-
thing and everything except
bridal wear.

z When did your love af-
fair with design begin?
How would you describe
the emotion?
Designing is our love, this
was a childhood hobby en-
couraged by our Mum and
later snowballed into a pro-
fession when we chose Fash-
ion as a career stream. Sulak-
shna acquired formal fashion
education from Pearl acad-
emy of fashion in New
Delhi, while I
have complet-
ed my degree
from NIFT, New
Delhi. 8 years
back, on October 26,
2014, we laid Kagiri’s
foundation, but launch-
ing our bootlegged
brand Karigiri and scaling it
to entrepreneurial success
was not a cakewalk.

z What do you truly enjoy
working with?
We like experiments and our
brand, ‘Karigiri’ offers a
wide range of fashion op-
tions. We have just launched
our collection “Cheap
Thrills” in Dubai at ‘The
Fashion Connect’, a collec-
tion which is inspired by the
new-age bride, full of life. As
the brides are adapting to a
modern approach in today’s
changing times, we created a
collection that displays the
energy, happiness and vi-
brancy that a bride looks for
in her wedding functions and
her life ahead. The collection
‘Cheap thrills’, is inspired by
the boho tribe, full of bright
neon colours, tribal hand
paintings, mirrors for the
perfect bling and the silhou-
ettes which scream ‘playful’.

Ringus CHC head Dr Satish Poonia, his teacher wife Sarita Poonia and other family members from Thikariya in Sikar district were returning from Sri Anandpur Sahib to Sikar, police said. Police recovered bodies of two men, two women and a child while two children were feared to have been washed away. Dr Poonia’s son Daksh, daughter Gudia, brother-in -law Rajesh, his wife and a girl. Deputy Superinten- dent of Police Ravinder Singh said the bus of a private company involved in the accident has been impounded and the driver arrested. He said police identified the victims from the documents recovered from the ill-fated Creta car. New Delhi: The CBI has taken over the probe into the case of coins worth Rs 11 crore going missing from the vaults of the SBI branch in Mehandipur Balaji in Dausa, officials said on Monday. State Bank of India (SBI) had approached the Rajasthan High Court seeking a CBI probe into the matter as the missing amount was higher than Rs 3 crore, the threshold for seeking a probe by the agency. On the high court’s directions, the CBI has taken over the FIR earlier registered by the Rajasthan Police. The matter came to light after the SBI branch decid- ed to carry out counting of money after a preliminary enquiry indicated discrep- ancy in the cash reserve at the bank. A Jaipur-based private vendor was roped in to carry out the count- ing of coins worth over Rs 13 crore, according to branch account books. The counting revealed that over Rs 11 crore worth of coins were missing from the branch. Only 3,000 coin bags carrying about Rs 2 crore could be accounted for and were transferred to the RBI’s coin holding branch. Naresh Sharma Jaipur: Reacting to re- ports of the Enforce- ment Directorate regis- tering a case into the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teach- ers (REET) paper leak case of Rajasthan, CM Ashok Gehlot on Mon- daysaidthateveryagen- cy has its role and they should play their part. “All the agencies have their own role, they should play their part, what can we do in this. The truth will come out… and the truth must come out,” he told reporters after an event at the CMR on Monday . Gehlot said that the BJP has come in the election mode and the incidents and decisions are part of their elec- tion mode. When told by the reporters that the Rajasthan High court had ruled out the need of CBI probe, Ge- hlot responded that they (BJP) wanted something so they found a new way and roped in the ED. In February, the state government had can- celled the REET level-2 examination, held in September 2021, due to paper leak. The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police is probing and has arrest- ed more than 40 people. P he Supreme Court has pulled up the Allahabad High Court for treating the FIR in Lakh- impur Kheri massacre ac- cused Ashish Mishra’s case as “an encyclopedia of events” and for “ignoring ju- dicial precedents”. The apex court also said that the high court order “is based on ir- relevant observations”. A three-judge Bench headed by CJI NV Ramana court can- celled the bail of Ashish, who is the son of Ajay Mishra ‘Teni’, the Union Minister of State for Home, and remand- ed the matter back to the high court where a new bench may hear Ashish’s bail application afresh. Ashish has been ordered to surren- der in a week’s time. The October 3 incident of last year in which eight peo- ple were killed during a farmers’ protest over the now withdrawn farm laws had caused shock and anger. Even after a Supreme Court- appointed Special Investiga- tion Team confirmed Ash- ish’s role in the dastardly crime his bail was not op- posed by the UP government which called the offence “grave” but said Ashish was not a “flight risk”. That led many to suspect the state gov- ernment’s intention of bias. Ashish Mishra’s case com- pels one to recall what former Supreme Court judge, Justice Deepak Gupta said in his farewell speech in May 2020. The rich and powerful can both delay and expedite their trial, Justice Gupta said. “If somebody who is rich and powerful is behind bars, then time and again he will approach the higher courts during the pendency of trial, till someday he obtains an order that his trial should be expedited,” Justice Gupta pointed out. Guess who can help you accomplish these? Supplier relationship man- agement allows for planning and carrying out of strategic plans between both parties. You can benefit from your suppliers’ expertise because they can work with you in identifying key areas that need improvement, contrib- ute towards product develop- ment, and modify current strategies to draw sales and increase market share. Regardlessof whatbusiness you’re in, vendors play a key roleinthesuccessof yourbusi- ness. The time, money and en- ergy used to nurture a positive vendor relationship cannot be measured directly against the company’s bottom line.  How- ever, a well-managed vendor relationship will result in in- creased customer satisfaction, reduced costs, better quality , and better service from the vendor. Whenandif problems arise, rest assured that a well- managed vendor will be quick to remedy the situation Being in the business of business — whether you’re the manufacturer, shipping specialist, retailer or some- one in between — requires a significant amount of faith in other people. Whenyourelysoheavilyon others to ensure that your business is operating at its highest efficiency , you need to recognizehowimportantyour vendor management system is. A vendor management sys- tem allows you to build rela- tionships with your suppliers and service providers, which in turn not only helps your businessbuttheirsaswell. It’s a simple analogy — when all enginesarerunningsmoothly , your train will be the first to arrive at the station. Your suppliers are critical to your success in the market and your profits; they’re at the heart of many of your or- ganization’s processes and activities. To get the best val- ue for your money , you should betakingastrategicapproach to efficiently managing your suppliers. Doing so will have myriad beneficial effects. Take the example of Uniqlo. Uniqlo is one of the fastest- growing retailers in the in- dustry . The brand, owned by Ja- pan’sFastRetailing, isknown for its colorful basics and sci- entific approach to clothing. In a report for New York University’s Stern Center For Business and Human Rights, Sarah Labowitz and Dorothee Baumann-Pauly have clearly mentioned how Uniqlo fosters relationships with suppliers and how it contributes significantly to- wards its success. Uniqlo “calls its suppliers ‘partners,’ and goes so far as to place technical experts in supplier facilities to act as trainers and coaches to im- prove production,” Labowitz and Baumann-Pauly write . This leads to added trust in the relationship, as evi- denced by this anecdote. “One Chinese supplier that works with a range of Euro- pean and American buyers described how Uniqlo provid- ed him with 18-month fore- casts of order volume. If the company deviated by more than a certain percentage, Uniqlo would apologize and offer to compensate him for thelostproduction.Otherbuy- ers, in contrast, would simply cancel orders or reduce vol- umes with neither an apology northeofferof compensation. Because of the trust Uniqlo has fostered, the supplier is more likely to accommodate unforeseen changes in or- ders. The suppliers are happy to receive additional training and technical support. Using the vendor manage- ment best practices will strengthen your company’s overall performance in the marketplace. Ignoring these sound vendor management principles will result in a dys- functional relationship that will have the potential to neg- atively impact your business. Getting better at Vendor Management can provide your organization a strategic competitive advantage. It’s estimated by Ardent Part- ners that only 22% of large organizations have a formal, technology-enabled vendor management program in place. Just make sure you are doing it the right way . There is also the crucial final call to take about Kishor’s joining the party — a plan that has once fallen though due to dissent from within. This time, Kishor has pitched a proposal un- der which, sources said, the Congress can contest 370 seats and have coalitions with friendly parties in par- ticular states. Kishor has suggested that the Congress fight alone in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha, and form alliances in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Maharashtra, to which Rahul Gandhi has agreed, media earlier reported, quoting un- named sources. The Congress, sourc- es have said, has time till May 2 to revert on the proposal. The meeting at Gan- dhi’s 10 Janpath Road residence in Delhi is be- ing attended by her daughter and party General Secretary Pri- yanka Gandhi Vadra, and senior leaders Mukul Wasnik, Ran- deep Singh Surjewala, KC Venugopal, and Am- bika Soni. There has been con- siderable dissent to- wards Kishor and his proposal in view of his close collaboration with leaders who have been directcompetitorstothe Congress in the states and have had a fractious relationship with the Grand Old party . Among them are Ben- gal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Baner- jee, her Andhra Pradesh counterpart Jagan Mo- han Reddy and Telan- gana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Kishor’s organisation IPAC had crafted ex- tremely successful elec- tion campaigns for both Banerjee and Reddy . In a letter to fellow Indians, Nadda said the opposition parties’ “tried, tested, or I should say dusted and rusted approach of vote bank politics, divisive politics, and selective politics is no longer working” as Prime Min- ister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’ has seen Indians being empow- ered and getting the wings to rise further. The South Asian na- tion is struggling to pro- cure fuel from the spot market after prices of liquefied natural gas and coal surged to re- cords last month as the war in Ukraine exacer- bated supply shortfalls. Pakistan’s energy costs more than doubled to $15 billion in nine months ended Febru- ary from a year earlier, and it isn’t able to spend more on additional shipments. About 3,500 mega- watts worth of power capacity had been shut due to the fuel shortag- es as of April 13, accord- ing to a Twitter post by Miftah Ismail, who has been selected as finance minister by new Prime Minister Shehbaz Sha- rif. A similar amount is offline due to technical faults, he said. The more than 7,000 megawatts represents almost a fifth of total generation capacity, ac- cording to Tahir Abbas, the head of research at Arif Habib Ltd. in Ka- rachi. The electricity crunch is complicating the already tough eco- nomic challenge for Sharif — who has yet to appoint an energy min- ister — after former leader Imran Khan was ousted last week follow- ing a period of political turmoil. A relatively poor na- tion that’s highly de- pendent on energy im- ports, Pakistan has been hit especially hard by rising fuel costs. NESO urge Shah to revoke decision on Hindi must subject till Class X Shillong (Agencies): The North East Stu- dents’ Organisation (NESO), an apex body of eight influential stu- dents’ organisations of the region, has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to revoke the decision to make Hindi a compulsory subject in all the northeastern states up to Class X as “the move in the region would be detrimental”. The NESO told Shah that imposition of Hin- di as a compulsory sub- ject in the northeastern region would be detri- mental not only for the propagation and dis- semination of the in- digenous languages but also to students who will be compelled to add another subject to their already vast syllabus. NESO Chairman Samuel B Jyrwa and Secretary General Sinam Prakash Singh in their letters to Shah said that in the region each state bears its own unique and diversified languages spoken by different ethnic groups ranging from Indo-Ary- an to Tibeto-Burman to Austro-Asiatic families. “In the region, a na- tive or indigenous lan- guage or a mother tongue is an important marker for a communi- ty . It is an interesting coincidence that Con- gress' last Chintan Shivir was held in Jaipur in 2013 in which Rahul Gandhi was made the party vice-president.
