Sensequake develops software, sensor units and provides services based on its proprietary
technology. Sensequake is the first sensing-based platform to assess integrity and natural hazard
vulnerability of infrastructures. Rather than relying on visual inspection and traditional
engineering practices, Sensequake performs smart assessment based on real data from temporary
sensors deployed on structure surfaces.
Job description:
The structural engineer will be responsible for the following tasks:
Designing sensing layout (will be trained by Sensequake)
Supervising the sensing tests
Performing modal identification to derive modal properties (will be trained by Sensequake)
Performing time history analysis for seismic analysis
Predicting the performance level based on HAZUS and ASCE 41
Proposing a retrofit scheme
Writing engineering reports
Communication with clients
Presenting the technology in different venues
Marketing and finding new clients
2. Expertise and skills needed:
Member of OIQ
3 to 10 years of experience in structural dynamic analysis, design and retrofit of existing
structures
Bachelor, Master or Ph.D. degree in structural/earthquake engineering
Strong background in physics, mathematics, structural analysis and earthquake
engineering, advanced dynamic and non-linear analysis
Proficiency to work with the following software: Sap2000, Etabs, AutoCad, Matlab, and
other Finite element software
Experienced in structural design and retrofit schemes
Strong communication and writing skills in both English and French
Assets:
Experienced in shake table and sensing test
Software: OpenSees, Robot, Revit
Other possible contributions to Sensequake technology
Extending the Sensequake technology to bridges; this task will include direct seismic
assessment of bridges based on ambient vibration test without making any finite element
model
Direct seismic assessment of flexible roofs based on ambient vibration tests
Structural analysis of buildings with wind loading directly based on ambient vibration tests
Modification factors to estimate non-linear response from the linear analysis
Implementing P-delta effects
Soil-structure interaction in ambient vibration levels and its implementation when the
structure is subjected to strong earthquakes
Damage detection based on ambient vibration tests
Non-structural assessment based on ambient vibration tests
