Job Title: Software Testing (HIL) Engineer
Department: Electronic Systems & Controls
Reporting to: Software Validation Principal Engineer
Closing date: February 2016
Purpose of the Role:
The candidate will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Hardware-in-
the-Loop system used to perform Verification and Validation of Powertrain and Chassis
ECUs and the whole Electrical/Electronic Architecture.
Principal Accountabilities:
Working as part of a team with HIL integration and modelling engineers to achieve
successful integration of Powertrain and Chassis Systems models with physical
control units in a HIL environment
Managing the hardware and software configuration of the HIL rigs in accordance with
the Software Validation plan
Designing wiring and supporting build and commissioning activities to ensure the HIL
rig is to the correct standard and level for system testing
Working closely with software test engineers to develop the HIL interfaces and
capabilities in accordance with the Test plans
Producing documentation and reports, managing the hardware and software
configurations with appropriate version control
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Experience in development of Hardware In Loop test benches, appreciated in
particular previous experience with one or more of the following:
DSPACE SCALEXIO, ConfigurationDesk, and ControlDesk
Concurrent SIMulation Workbench
Vector Canoe, and VT system
Excellent knowledge of Matlab Simulink, and development of models for Powertrain,
Chassis, and Hybrid components
Good knowledge of Automotive protocols CAN and LIN 2.X, including Physical Layer,
Data Link Layer, Interaction Layer and OSEK Network Management
Good knowledge of diagnostic protocol UDS ISO-14229, XCP, and CCP protocols
Good debugging/troubleshooting and electronic laboratory skills
