Study on drawing and doubling
Object of Jute Drawing:
1. Straighten the fibers in the sliver.
2. Parallelization of fibers in the sliver.
3. To reduce weight per unit length of sliver by drafting.
4. To reduce the thick and thin places in the sliver.
5. To increase smoothness, luster and strength of sliver by doubling.
6. To remove impurities from sliver.
Function of jute drawing:
1. Drafting the finisher card sliver to a count suitable for feeding the spinning frames.
2. Reduction of weight irregularities by doubling.
3. Straightening the fibers and laying them along the sliver axis so that when they come to be spun on spinning frame they will evenly drafted & twisted to form an acceptable yarn.
Types of Jute Drawing Frame:
According to Faller bar there ae two types of Drawing Frame:
1. Push bar Drawing Frame
a. Orthodox.
b. High speed type.
2. Spiral Drawing frame
a. Single thread types.
b. Double threads type.
c. Triple thread types.

2. What is Drawing & Doubling ?
• Drawing: Drawing is the regular and uniform elongation of the
sliver to make it lighter.
• Doubling: Doubling is the running of two or more sliver
together to make one.
3. Object of Jute Drawing:
• Straighten the fibers in the sliver.
• Parallelization of fibers in the sliver.

• To remove impurities from sliver.

Spiral Drawing frame
According to Faller bar there are two types of Drawing Frame:
6. Desirable Features in any types of
Drawing Frame:
An ideal method of pinning the slivers, that is, the gill pins must
enter and leave the sliver as nearly perpendicular as possible.
Small lead of gills or fallers to avoid undue tension on the sliver
between the faller bar and retaining rollers.
Shortest possible ‘Nip’ to give maximum possible control of fibre
in drafting.
Freedom of movement of sliver in the drafting zone.
Reliability of the working parts.
High speed of fallers permitting maximum production.
Less noise of fallers when working.
7. Different Parts of Jute drawing Frame:

8. Definition and terms of jute drawing frame
Reach: The distance from the centre point of the retaining roller to the bite of the
pressing & drawing roller is known as reach.
Nip: The distance between the foremost gill where the pins leave the sliver and
the bite of the pressing and drawing roller is known as Nip.
Pitch of Faller: The distance between the one raw of pins of one faller bar to the
pins of next faller bar is called pitch of faller.
Lead%: The difference in the surface speed of fallers over the surface speed of
retaining roller to give sufficient tension to the sliver is known as lead%.

13. Change Pinion in Jute Draw Frame
and their effect.
Speed Change Pinion: Speed change pinion is a driver pinion.
Therefore, a bigger speed pinion means more speed of all the parts
of the machine giving more production per unit time and vice versa.
Draft Change Pinion: The draft change pinion or DCP is a driven
pinion. There for, a bigger pinion means slower feed speed, more
draft, less material fed per unit time in the machine and vice versa.
Faller Change Pinion: This is driver pinion. Therefore, a bigger
pinion means more speed of the faller bars, increased percent lead
of faller bars over back roller surface speed and vice versa.
Variable V-pulley Pinion: This is a driver pulley through which
motion is transmitted to the fluted feed roller of the roll feed.
Therefore, if pulley dia. Is bigger, roll feeder speed will be increased
and vice versa.
