Alveoli loses its elasticity and expands
Cell wall of alveoli is damaged
Surface area of alveoli become smaller
Exchange of gases become less efficient
Damage to alveoli is permanentand the ability to breathe well cannot be
restored

Infected by virusor bacteria
Effects:
Bronchioletube is inflamed with the production of alot of mucous
Symptoms:
Continuouscoughing, difficulty in breathing, chest pain and sore throat.

Causes(Damaging Substance):
Cigarette smoke, exposed to asbestos and carcinogens
Effects:
Lungcancer is caused by uncontrollablecell division
Can spread to other organsin the body for example liver and bones
Symptoms:
Continuouscoughing, difficulty in breathing, coughing out blood

Substances that can cause an allergy reaction, for exampledust and pollen grains.
Effects:
Bronchioletube becomes inflamed, swollen and smaller
