WHY IT’S IMPORTANT?
Communication is an essential skill for every
profession, but especially a Change leader. A Change leader is responsible for
relaying messages to everyone in the organization and with the right skills can
transform the transition the organization is attempting to facilitate. The
Change leader should be an effective communicator that can sell the vision,
convince others to support, and bridge the gap between senior level
management and the employees (Kotter, 1996). Communication is important
because it can undermine or support all efforts being made (Gleeson, 2016).

understand which form of communication is effective within the organization. If
email has been the primary form of communication, leaders should continue to
use it. Listening is another important way to facilitate the development of
effective communication. Active listening requires taking turns in the discussion,
restating what was heard and the proper body language. Also, understanding the
communication patterns of others The proper tone is also important in all
aspects of communication, as the leader should seek to be respectful to
properly deliver the message (Belonwu, 2018).
BEING USED TO OVERCOME OBSTACLES
Effective communication can be used to overcome
obstacles by providing a safe space for people within the organization to share
ideas, not lose out on potential opportunities, and work through
misunderstandings in ways that benefit the organization. Employees that are
happy with their organization feel like they are being heard. They also have
more buy-in for changes being made and face less resistance (Bosworth, 2019).
Lastly, the ability to effectively communicate and overcome an obstacle is
essential to climbing out of business slumps, overcoming negative press and
transitioning during an organizational change (Garfinkle, 2019)..
