2. Target Audience: My core audience is between the ages of
15 - 30. Male and female, it has violent scenes therefore the
beginning age is 15. The audience can be of any class and
status.
3. Outline: Damari, is in college and he is in lesson and burst out and gets into an
argument with a colleague and then a teacher. He is very antisocial, isolated in his
own corner and doesn’t really have many friends because he pushed them away.
He also has bruises on his body and face (Beginning). He goes home and locks
himself in his room, however someone’s starts knocking really hard and he opens
the door and his dad comes in beats him up. There is screaming going on he is
begging for him to stop. He then pushes his dad away and manages to runaway
(middle). Next day he goes into school and finally decides to speak to his teacher
and she helps him (end).
4. Character Breakdown:
Name: Damari
Age:17
Race: Black Caribbean
Gender: Male
Profession: He is in college doing A levels
Personality: He is very antisocial and doesn't have many friends. He isolates
himself as he is violently abused by his father so he doesn't trust easily and
doesn't really know how to act around people.
5. Visual Elements:
Lighting - Low Key, because it is a sad storyline and therefore it can create the mood
of sadness.
Camera Movement - High angles (make him look vulnerable) Middle shots, close ups
(to show his emotion to the audience) tracking shot.
Editing - Slow motion
Setting - School corridor, house
Actors - Damari (main character male) teacher (female)
Costume - normal casual clothing
6. Audio Elements:
Soundtrack - fast paced (ending) slow ‘sad’ (beginning)
Effects - Door knocking, door slamming, body hitting
7. Rationale: I chose this idea because children being violently abused by their
parents happens a lot, and it's a problem that not everyone can speak up about,
because the individuals affected are scared and fear that it will only get worse. So
I chose to do this topic because whoever sees it and might be going through the
same problem might end up having a voice and wanting to make a choice in their
life. However I know that it is a very sensitive subject to talk about and show but
hopefully it can show audiences what actually happens in real life and that some
people really aren't fortunate to go home and have a loving atmosphere.
8. Primary and Secondary Research:
The NSPCC estimated that over half a million children are abused in the UK each year. Meaning 1 in 14
children are physically abused.NSPCC - over 6000 children were identified as needing protection from physical
abuse last year.
There are many types of child abuse:
- Domestic Abuse
- Neglect
- Sexual Abuse
- Online Abuse
- Physical Abuse
- Emotional Abuse
- Female Genital Mutilation
- Child Trafficking
- Grooming
- Bullying and Cyberbullying
9. Requirements and resources:
I'm gonna need a camera person and also a lighting person.
I'm going to use the harrow college cameras and also two scenes will be shot in
harrow college. We are gonna need to record a scene in a house, we will need
permission to take the camera home and keep for a few days etc.
Constraints and contingency:
The problems we might encounter is the lighting, especially inside the college and
inside the house, it might be too dark so we might have to use extra lights.
