guide us in various practical activities such as gardening, playing tennis, investing our
money, etc. Philosophy thought-provoking sayings, such as, “You can't wake a person who is
pretending to be asleep.” – Navajo Proverb . So while these are not typically confusing in
their own context, they don’t accurately capture the fullness of the field of
philosophy. Philosophers continuously wonder about how what they are studying is relevant
