Santiago's soul continues on, despite his old years and the ultimate physical disability of his
body, according to the quotation. Santiago's sparkling eyes are the doorway to a spirit that
remains an almost magical relationship with the natural environment, despite the fact that his
body has fallen to the evil forces. Santiago’s eyes are as blue as the sparkling water that covers
him, signifying that he deserves here. He has become one with the sea. Santiago has the power
and inner will to endure the numerous trials and obstacles that nature throws at him and that he
is required to conquer in his epic journey to net a massive fish since he is a vital part of the
natural world.
