2. My Life In Sunderland Documentary Concept
◦ My Initial idea is to make a documentary, about my life in the northeast. I will go in depth about my life as a
content creator, what it’s like to make content in the northeast and the overall culture in the northeast. I plan on
talking about my SAFC Instagram account as well, and how SAFC influences the lives of people in the NE, and
why it heavily dictates the overall mood and success of the city of Sunderland. I will also discuss the problems and
opportunities I have being a content creator in Sunderland, and whether it’s good or bad for me and my progress.
As well as this I will also talk about the overall culture in Sunderland, and how it has rubbed on me as an individual.
I will try to get some interviews from people who live in Sunderland, to get some different perspectives of how life
is here. I intend to flex my editing skills when making this product to show everyone, exactly what I can do, as well
as make the best product I can possibly make. I hope to get some footage from football games, Sunderland city
centre and my life in general. I plan to start my documentary by talking about how infamous Sunderland is, then seg
waying into the documentary itself. I hope to make a polished, comedic and informative product.
3. The Equipment I Would Need To Make This
◦ Camera/Smartphone that can film in 1080p or higher.
◦ Tripod to capture certain shots that require the camera to stay still.
◦ SD Card/USB Stick to back up the footage and make sure you don’t lose it.
4. My Instagram Account
This is my Sunderland Instagram account. I use this account to post my
thoughts and opinions on SAFC. This links to Sunderland culture and I can talk
about this account in my documentary. This is helpful because it helps you seek
a deeper insight into what people from Sunderland post to social media. SAFC
is also a huge part of the culture here in Sunderland so it makes sense to
include it in my documentary.
5. Making A Proto Type Video
◦ So I decided to make a proto type video where I show you what it’s like to make content in Sunderland. This is not
an exact proto type of my full documentary, but it does show you me making content around the local area, which
fits in with Sunderland culture. I also flex my editing skills in thus video, which helps display my technical skill. The
video is a bout me travelling to a Seaburn arcade to see what I can win with only £10, I know it’s a strange concept
but that’s content for you. I also travel through Sunderland in this video so you get to see some iconic Sunderland
land marks. Here is some pictures the video will be on my blogger.
6. How I filmed and edited the video
◦ I filmed this video using my phones 4k camera (Samsung Galaxy s20fe). I made sure to rotate between my front
lens and my back lens in order to get better shots. I obviously made sure to film in 1080 or 4k in order to make sure
the video was good quality.
◦ I used Kinemaster Diamond to edit the video since I know how to use that editing software. The edits I used where
splitting and cropping the video in order to zoom in and out, clip graphics zoom in and out and slide across which
is something you use to make the videos enter in cool ways, video and picture overlay to shoe other pictures and
videos on top of others, I added music and sound effects to make the video sound better, I also used this feature to
add a narrator (me) and last bit certainly not least the good old cut (scissors) to cut certain parts out of the video.
7. Location Scouting
◦ So with this Documentary being themed around Sunderland culture I must make sure it’s filmed in Sunderland.
◦ Sunderland City Centre will be a really good place to film some footage.
◦ My House (in Sunderland) is a place where I can film some segments.
◦ Sunderland College Bede Campus
◦ The Bench in Silksworth (fields next to sainsbury‘s)
◦ The streets of Sunderland (not going to disclose they exact place for safety reasons)
I think these locations are all good places to film because there in Sunderland and they all have there own uses. City
for broll, House for personal conversations, College for interviews and The Bench for filming fun occasions.
8. The problems I might come across whilst filming this
Documentary
◦ I could run out of storage on my phone so I must make sure I have a USB stick and SD card available just in case I
run out of space. Plus they are also useful to help back up my footage so I don’t lose anything, which is another
problem I might come across.
◦ I might struggle to film in public locations due to bad weather or mass numbers of people. However that’s an easy
fix since I can just wait until the conditions are right for me to film what I need to film.
◦ I must make sure to use my time wisely and get things done. If not i might miss my opportunity to speak in my
house whilst it’s quite or get a certain shot. I will get around this by managing my time wisely.
◦ Finally I might end up falling over whilst recording, so in order to reduce the risk of this happening I must be
careful whilst filming and watch where I am going.
9. Interacting with others
◦ Over the summer I have interacted with other people and we have shared our ideas with one and other. We have
also gave each other help and feedback.
◦ I believe that this is good thing because it’s good to let a fresh pair of eyes judge your ideas.
◦ I have also helped other students film their footage and I was also acting in some videos as well.
◦ Here are some pictures.
10. What have I learned?
◦ So over the summer I have learned more about my editing style and
how I want to edit my videos.
◦ I have also improved my social skills and I have learned how to
interact with other people and share ideas
These are helpful skills that will help me produce better work and
better myself as a content creator.
