Drilling Engineering Planning
Perform planning of the oil producer sidetrack wells, starting from KOP selection, building and optimizing well
trajectory with the given reservoir target. Accomplish offset wells analysis and extract the applicable lessons and
learnings. Select casings` seat depths, mud weight and cementing strategy. Complete casing design, by performing
the casing burst, collapse and tensile load checks and selecting the applicable casing grade and connections.
Prepare detailed BHA plans for each hole section, based on torque and drag analysis, ECD management, logging
and underreaming requirements.
Operations and Execution
Support offshore team during execution phase, by preparation of RWIs (rig work instruction), casing make up
instructions, casing running drag charts, drilling one pager, including the drilling, tripping parameters, first responses
to losses, wellbore stability and stuck pipe events, jarring procedure. Complete weekly based AAR (after action
review) meetings with offshore and onshore teams to capture the main learnings.
Safety Management
Plan the well activities prioritizing people safety and zero harm to the environment. While planning complex and
risky operations, which deviate from standard company practices, perform the risk assessment, gathering all
involved parties and reviewing risks, preventions and mitigations. Upon the mutual agreement to proceed or
cancel/modify the operation, document the risk assessment and follow the decision with the designated actions.
Actively participate in Company`s Low Carbon initiative, targeted to reduce carbon footprint.
Cost Optimization and Operational Efficiency
Prepare stochastic time and cost estimation via Monte Carlo simulation for planned wells. Acquire inputs based on
offset wells timing, cost calculations from the service providers and inclusion of relevant NPT (non-productive time)
events. Monitor the costs and equipment status on daily basis during operations and assist in the well cost
reconciliation process at the end of operations. Actively participate in cost reduction initiatives, such as reduction of
extra personnel and equipment on board, opportunities to reuse durable and long-term equipment fitting for purpose
(not compromising the safety), by performing necessary inspection and undergoing relevant EIA (equipment
integrity assurance) process. Complete NPT and invisible lost time analysis on well by well basis and generate the
remedial/prophylactic actions for the future operations.

Professional Experience
2014 – 2015. Well Site Drilling Engineer - East Azeri Platform / DDGG Semisubmersible Rig
 Learned about key rig equipment, drilling tools, systems and procedures (Well Control drills, Drops, Red
Zone Management, Safety Cards). Have good understanding of rig equipment specific to semisubmersible
rigs, such as riser tensioners, drilling compensators, subsea BOP/koomey unit and etc.
 Supported offshore drilling team by measuring and preparing casing tallies. Performed key casing cement
job and balanced plug volume and displacement calculations. Prepared casing and BHA drag charts.
 Supported WSL (well site leader) by performing rig audits with the crew. Populated daily drilling reports,
casing and cementing reports into Open Wells.
2015 – Present. Drilling Engineer – Chirag Platform
 Worked on feasibility study for the future platform wells, selecting the best donor wells for the available
targets, evaluating overall complexity of each well, optimizing trajectory, assessing casing condition and
performing high level casing design.
 Completed planning and execution of multiple whipstock sidetrack wells. Including the following activities:
KOP selection based on the donor wellbore trajectory, anti-collision, target location, formation tops, PPFG
window. Building and optimizing well trajectory on Compass software. Completing drilling ECD, casing
surge, hole cleaning and other hydraulic simulations on Well Plan software. Completing torque and drag
analysis for drilling BHAs, casing running/rotation, packer/liner hanger setting and etc. Performing detailed
casing load analysis on Stress Check and Well Cat. Performing regular estimations of kick tolerance.
 Involved in multiple abandonment operations, including cement plug placement, planning of remedial
cement squeeze job through perforations, mechanical plug installation, logging and etc.
 Completed planning and execution of casing leak remediation project. Detailed working on different repair
options, such as internal/external patches, expandable patches, pumping of sealant material, installation of
scab liner, performing cement squeeze job and etc.
 Involved in number of complex casing cut & pull operations` planning and execution. Worked out the details
of cut depth, cutter selection, contingency spear runs, kill mud weight estimation and SCP (sustained casing
pressure) killing procedure. Worked out details of breaking containment with complex casing hanger/casing
hanger slips and pack off retrieval.
 Involved in execution of several ERD sidetrack wells. Got exposed to the relevant challenges, such as hole
cleaning, casing running and severe BHA torque and drag issues. Supported team in working out the
options to reduce stick-slip severity and torque spikes after connections.
 Worked on planning and execution of the wells with very narrow PPFG window, driven by wellbore stability
issues and depleted formations. Have experience in application of SSC and DSC to prevent losses and
strengthen the formations (Static and Dynamic Stress Cage).
 Completed comprehensive Sidetracking Guideline for the region.
 Have good experience working with procurement and logistic teams. Preparing long lead equipment lists,
purchasing new equipment, working with offshore to ensure delivery of required tools in timely manner.
