have now progressed to the position of Production manager so I know what it takes to be

I was initially employed at Schenck as the workshop supervisor leading a team of 15 people
consisting of assembly fitters an electrician and a painter producing pneumatic conveying
equipment to a very high standard. I excelled at this role for 5 years completing training
courses and taking on more responsibilities and eventually I was offered the position as
Production Manager.
As the Production Manager I was responsible for the welding and fabrication department, the
assembly shop, stores and the shipping department.
I managed a team of 29 personnel. 3 of these were direct reports which consisted of the
workshop supervisor, shipping supervisor and the stores supervisor.
I have also had to manage a lot of change at Schenck. When we moved to larger premises
and also when we brought the mechanical conveying part of the business to our factory and
we had to reconfigure the workshop to fit in welding and fabrication cells and equipment.
My other responsibilities include;
Driving the Lean Strategy forward by looking at where improvements could be
made and pulling a team together to achieve these.
Managing PDR’s and personal development throughout the team.
Absence management
Attending handover meetings and agreeing project milestones.
Implementation of budgets.
Promote Health & Safety awareness throughout the team.
Lead department Health and Safety meetings.
Creation of Safe Operating Procedures and risk assessments.
2. Lead morning manufacturing meetings with all Operation’s staff, Project managers
and Engineering to ensure that milestones were being achieved and to discuss any
changes or issues which may affect the delivery to the customer and put any action
plans in place to prevent this.
