Shift Manager
Duties included but were not limited to: Oversight of the leads and crew for the shipping, production,
maintenance and tank departments. Overall management of daily operations, with a very lean workforce
of 25-30 employees in a 450,000 square foot facility. Timely communication of changes, goals and
progressions, scheduling, managing production line, line ups and assign related job assignments.
Employee performance evaluations, assessments, discipline, training, interviews and related
documentations. Troubleshoot equipment, maintain budgeted yields, daily gemba walks, continuous
improvements to all aspects of the plant processes, loss product research and root cause analysis.
Manage M.I.P. (manual intervention program) Worked closely with the safety department, I was the
leader of PPE team researching better safety processes and gear for reducing injuries and other projects
to meet and above OSHA requirements. Oversaw the 5s program on the floor throughout the plant.
Managed weekly projects for all 4 crews that included reduction in stock loss and root cause analysis, 5s
projects, clean up, straighten, standardize and sustainability. Everyday responsibilities of a fortune 500
company with more than 46,000 employees for over 15 years.

Achievements
I started at PPG in 1999 as a production worker, in 2005 I was selected to be a wareroom lead man,
during this period PPG was doing some restructuring on the shift manager position and deemed the
wareroom lead as the acting shift manager, for the first 2 years as a new lead I was the acting shift
manager and then in 2008 I accepted the shift manager roll at PPG.
Training
Trained all new employees on all aspects of 80% of the jobs in the plant. Trained new lead man
supervisors on operational production efficiency standards of safety and productivity functioning with a

2. lean staff, due to high turnover rate of employees. Trained all process operators on daily operations and
work flow process charts, including melter, furnace, bath operations, all wareroom operations and
shipping jobs, when needed, to ensure targets and goals are meet daily.
Carried out the implementation of 5s projects in the plant, flow charts, process maps, etc. Success of
getting buy in for our crew employees to upper management’s expectations. Kaizen every day!
Reducing labor costs, running leaner, with 3-4 less employees than all other crews, yet still managing to
go above and beyond with safety and production.
Lead our PPE team to develop new gloves with a manufacture to greatly reduce the injuries for our
employees where they were getting cut often on the back of their hands. Resulting in a reduction of I/Is.
(injuries causing employee to be away from work for 30 days) Worked one-on-one with plant safety
officer to maintain employee safety and continuing education.
Assisting in a historic PPG low iron glass production run by being proactive in resolving problems and
getting employee buy in to focus and pay extra attention to detail.
Productivity
Organized man power throughout the plant to ensure all daily/monthly goals where met, pushing
satisfaction of shipping logistics and plant productivity.
Consistently rated successful in annual performance reviews.
Diagnosed and worked management flow chart for 5S and Lean Management resulting in continue
efforts for minimal down time and loss of productivity. Communicated with upper management and
department heads to ensure daily processing changes were communicated properly and completed.
Took the lead to ensure my crew achieved the “Thin-to-win” goals where we managed production of 8”
to 6” and started the 5” production without loss of product while maintaining daily tonnage, maximizing
profitability.
