content and finding appropriate apps for your children can be a
difficult job. Google has taken the big step to make parents
feel more satisfied with what their kids are experiencing on
smartphones or tablets.

3. How will Google Play store filter content?
The developers have added a new ‘Family Star’ on the
homepage, which will take users directly to selective
applications which are relevant for kids.
Google Play product manager, Eunice Kim explained in a blog
post that parents can browse apps and other content in the
Play Store according to age and interest. Information such as
which apps contain advertisements will also be displayed to
help decide if they are right for the family.

4. Developers connecting with families
Developers who wish to submit their apps for the family
friendly category must pass a review process and earn a rating
of ‘Everyone’ or ‘Everyone 10+’ from the Entertainment
Software Rating Board, and it should also be in accordance to
the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
Developers currently tailoring their apps for a family audience
include PBS Kids and Crayola.
